Well, of course every trip that I take with DL turns out to be a fun and exciting adventure. This one was no exception. Actually the excitment began on the return trip...but I digress

ALB-CVG DL769

MD-88

The a/c was freezing at 6am. It seriously must have been below 50 degrees in the cabin. I grabed a blanket on my way to 26D in hopes that it would do the trick. Unfortunatly 25D was taken so I settled in behind the exit row. We departed on the full flight on-time and was in the midst of a beautiful blue sky in no time. Of course once we were in the air the cabin temperature turned tropical and I ditched the blanket as sweat beads formed on my forehead. Service on the CVG flgiht was basic, nothing extrodinary. Although those little breakfast cookies DL gives out are pretty good . Cabin was clean and bright and f/a's were a joy at the ungodly hour.
We arrived on-time into CVG at gate B3. There was less than an hour until the MDW flight so I headed to concourse A right away.

Ok, I had an idea of what to expect of the 328...basically a CRJ with the wing above the a/c. Riiiight. Well, it looked a lot smaller in person than I had expected, but no worries. We boarded quickly and I was soon in the cabin. Once inside it wasn't that bad. It was like a short ERJ. I also loved the rotation on this baby. It made me think mini 757. I loved it
I was very surprised with the service on ACA. The f/a was very personal and after the beverage service we each recieved a warm towel...how nice at 9am . Those extra little touches made the flight very enjoyable.
We arrived at MDW a little ahead of schedulde which was great.
I was also really impresed with MDW. I guess I had a vision of a small run down airport, but that was definatly not the case. MDW was bright and clean. A very nice surprise. It was quite the architectual piece with the terminal and concourses seperated by a road and connected with a bridge. I personally liked it and plan on traveling into MDW over ORD in the future. (I'll explain... ) With that said, and bags claimed, off to downtown I go to see what Chicago has to offer.

BTW, Chicago was amazing. It was my first time there and I was truly surprised by how much was there. I felt like I was in a mid-west NYC, but friendlier. Lots to see and do, you should all go there, the end!

ORD-CVG DL1030

Check-in and security were a breeze...ok, thats when the breeze ended and the gale force winds began.
First, the CVG flight coming in was about 30 mins late due to ATC holding arriving traffic. Ok, not a big deal, we would still be in CVG on-time. Second, we boarded 10 mins before departure time and then began to head to the runway at 4:20pm. Once we reached the runway furthest away from concourse L (it ran parallel to the road leading to the UAL terminal, dont know the #) we found out that we were #10 for departure. At this time it was roughly 4:45pm. Once we reached the #3 departure spot there was a hold on departing traffic on only our runway...OF COURSE . Ok, so its now 5pm, the flight back to ALB leaves CVG at 7:10pm and we have to cross the time zone...so that makes it 6pm. We finally get airborne at 5:15pm (6:15 CVG time) and I'm praying we make it to CVG at least by 6:45 so I can make the last flight to ALB for the day.
With that said, service on the flight was brief (fastbeak...water or lemonade only) and luckily the flight was shorter than expected and I had an exit row seat (the only redeeming factors ) .

Well we arrived in CVG at 6:50pm, unfortunalty by the time we got to the gate and the door was opened it was 6:58ish. We found out the ALB flight was departing from A17..nice. Time to run, but I wasnt alone in the boat, a whole load of passengers began to sprint when they exited the a/c. Well I began to jog from B9 to A17. I dont think I have ever ran so fast in a public place before. I didnt bother to wait for the tram underground so I ran on the moving sidewalks (BTW, if you were there at that time and I pushed you out of the way...sorry, because somone got an elbow ) I then truged up the stairs and began to run again to A17...of course it was the gate at the end of the concourse, but thats just my dumb luck. When I got to the gate area there was no one there. All of a sudden a woman appeared and kindly asked for ID as I was panting (oh, btw I did the whole run in sandals...shoes next time definatly). Once on the a/c I got that evil glare from the passengers for being that "last one" on. A very nice f/a saw me panting and sweating and kindly brought a bottle of water and paper towels. The moment I sat down the door closed and we were on our way. Now the only though in my mind was...did my bag make it? Oh well, who cares
Service was basic Delta, like all the other flights the cabin was clean and smelled fresh and the f/a's were pretty friendly. No complaints on the service end. It was geneally a good time, except for the unexpected workout .

I'm sure there will be another story to add to the DL file in December...ALB-ATL-MLB-ATL-ALB.

Oh, I apologize for mis-spelled words. I typed it once and at the end my comp shut down. This time when I did spell check it started to act up so I figured screw it...so here is the raw version

Excellent Trip Report! Did your bag make it?

Thankfully the bag made it. It was the first on the baggage claim carousel, which makes me think it was the last on in CVG  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
