Sorry if this is a bit poorly written or lacking, I'm very busy with the beginning of school. All the photos are of my friend, except one.
I booked two tickets to Louisiana for Labor Day, total price $301. I purposely booked 757 flights, knowing that we'd have a better chance at upgrading with the additional seats. I didn't actually realize until later, that both 757's were international 757's with business class! Luckily, we were notified a little before 48 hours that all our legs had been upgraded. (We're both OnePass Gold)
SAN-IAH 757 Business Class 8/29/03
The flight left ontime at 9:30am. The flight was mostly full, with business class about 12/16. I think at least 4 of the business class passengers were F/A's or friends of the F/A, since they knew one of the first class F/A's. Pre-departure drinks were taken, I had OJ. After takeoff, another round of drinks were taken (this time Baileys), along with lunch orders. The F/A took orders from the front to rear, with choices of salad or sandwich. We took the sandwich. Soon, the movie started, but it was some horrible De Nero flick and I wasn't interested. Besides, our TV monitors weren’t working too well. For some reason,
I thought business would have PTV's, but they didn’t. But overall, the seats were extremely nice. Equal to UA's business class.
After another two Bailey's, I was sleeping, but my friend decided to start drinking Champaign... and so did the guys behind us... when I woke up 30 mins later, the male F/A was popping another bottle open, and I decided to join the drinking. Another bottle later, we were informed by the F/A, "You queens drank all the Champaign!" That was ok, since the flight was almost over. The F/A told us all, "See ya later ladies" while we were exiting. Nice touch.
First class again, but my memory starts getting hazy due to the alcohol from the plane, and more at the airport bar. The First Class was completely full. The plane looked quite nice. Pre-departure drinks were taken, We got vodka and cranberry. The female F/A decided to card both of us (we're 23 and 21), and we continued our pre-New Orleans drinking. During the 50 minute flights we had at least two re-fills. By the time the plane was ready to land, we were both dancing in our seat (Channel 7 plays hiphop dance music), and I'm sure I was making an embarrassment of myself. Who cares though, it's a flight to MSY. The F/A had to ask us to stop dancing and settle down since we were about to land.
I'll skip the details since most was the same. MSY-IAH was a 757-300, and I was quite impressed by the newness of the plane. I liked the 737 style LCD videos instead of the older CRT's. The plane landed at the new terminal, and I was extremely impressed. If my camera hadn't stopped working, I'd have taken photos.
IAH-SAN was slightly late, probably due to bad weather. Since the flight was leaving at 9PM, a snack was offered. It consisted of deli meat, cheese, an artichoke, olives, and chocolate. It was quite nice. I slept during most of the flight. The video was a private label Showtime flick, I wasn't interested.

I'm sure it will go away (in large part) because this year was a complete bore. The police had some new law that forced everyone to behave or face severe penalties. Of course, if women wanted to show their boobs, that of course, would be ok.
No offense to your city, (I'm sure this sounds like typical California snobbery) but your city can use all the money it can get, and shouldn't complain where you get it from. Even the tourist areas are quite dirty and very dangerous in some areas, and the city as a whole looked run down.
We only went to hangout with a large group of friends, so I still had fun.

The police were supposed to be enforcing existing laws last weekend, something the NOPD conveniently ignores during most festivals.

None taken. I moved here from Los Angeles myself (being raised there) back in the late 80's (job-related at MSY). The difference from LA to NO was very disappointing to me to say the least. I don't hesitate to put down a lot of things that NO is and does. That said, we live in a suburb out towards the airport, so we're in a much better, cleaner, more residential area, away from NO itself, and aren't affected by what goes on down there (crime, Quarter, etc).
Glad you enjoyed your trip. Good report, BTW.

Boy, you always get the awesome upgrades to first/business. I'm jealous. Hopefully with my new job I'll start earning enough miles for some of those awesome upgrades... I just blew 60,000 miles on DL for an upcomming trip; not too many left now
Great report though, wish I could have joined you for the dancing LOL!

I had a post in Civil about dressing for flights. I had asked people what they wore when they fly... Now I know. I don't care if you "pay" for your ticket or "get it for free"... flying is something special and should be treated that way... You can be just as comfortable in nice looking clothes as you can in a t-shirt.
I know our constitutional rights allow us to wear what we want, but they also give me the right to say what I want...
So, where is your post about Southern Decadence? Some friends of mine went and I can get no stories out of them either.
