Another fine trip completed by American Airlines! I was happy to fly them once again!

I traveled with my dad, my sister, and my grandmother. We flew down to Miami for a short vacation b/c of the NJEA teachers convention week (my sister and I were off on Thurs and Fri.) Our outbound flight was 12:40 pm on a 757 leaving Newark.

Onboard, I found the 757 to be one of cleanest I have encountered. Unlike the older AA 757's, this one had no stains on the walls, and the carpet and bulkheads were clean. The wings had absolutely no wear and tear, and looked new. I was startled by how clean this aircraft was, until the interior was quite worn. Like all 757's they had the old seats, which were worn! It looked like AA jacked the seats from an existing 757 and put them into this new one. Sorry guys, didn't catch the Reg.  Sad

We had a late take-off out of EWR, due to fog and just crappy weather. AA Let passengers get up to use the bathroom, one at a time. Once we were on our way, drink service began, and it was smooth flying from here. I was offered a drink and a bag of pretzels, and that was it. I didn't mind, nobody gives away food anymore  Sad IFE was standard (CBS eye on American) which was somewhat interesting. I just like to look around the plane!  Smile

We descended into Miami, and it rained once we arrived.

Coming home Flight 1700 A300:
I admit it, I was not too thrilled to fly an A300. After flight 587, I was a bit nervous on flying one again. I arrived at my seat (row 37, the last row.) Yet I still had some generous recline! We took off and I felt the G force! Man the A300 is a rocket! On take-off and throughout the flight, I felt strange shaking vibrations from the a/c, probably due to its curved fuselage. Once in the air, I was fine, and watched CBS Eye on AA. Drink service rolled around, and I received a Dr. Pepper. Afterward, I asked for another can of soda, and the f/a happily gave me another. You many not get food on AA, but you do get a soda with a smile!

The A300 is probably my favorite Aibus after the forgotten A310. Once I was up in the air, I was happy to be aboard! The A300 was showing its age, with slightly worn seats, and older style bulkheads. I heard that AA installed PTV's into some of there A300 for flights to Europe. Did they take those out?

Flew on N8067A and N25071 back in 1999 on JFK-LHR-JFK and both aircraft had the PTVs installed. Don't know if they have been removed since the 777s replaced the AB6 on the LHR runs.

I'd be interested to know too!

regards

The A300s are all in a 2 class config now. They do not have the PTV's installed, =(... Just the standard video, and of course now the LRTC...

Cool report- I love the A300, it actually was my first choice before ending up in the A310. I'm not crazy about flying the A300 after #587 as well. And if I recall....Tomorrow ( 11/12/ ) is the anniversary of #587. RIP

Nice report. I fly those 2 flights at least 1x a month. Flight 1700 has been delayed quite a bit lately due to "flow control" into NYC. Not looking forward to flying up this Winter - probably will be delayed each time (not AA's fault).

Yeah, AA is going to lay off all of their flight attendants and replace them with coke machines- with a smile painted on them.

Geesh. Flying has turned into a McDonald's trip!!!

Well, good that you had a nice flight!
