here comes the newest trip report and I've to admit, I've gotten much more for my few bucks (44 EUR all incl. each way) than expected.
Last wednesday I heard that I should come to Francfort yesterday and as my husband had his birthday on saturday I knew that I've to fly from ZRH once again, well I did a quick check about an direct flight into FRA - LH had only BUS class places left for a little bit more than 700 EUR which is inacceptable for me for an maybe 100 day contract and LX liked to have the same for an ECO seat without food so I looked about other possiblities and found cheap flight from ST into DUS - and a Fokker 100 was still missing in my log-book so I booked ST 6091 ZRH DUS on 8th of dec and today back ST6090 (unfortunatly done by an B737-300) and I took the train into FRA (ICE 123 btw ICE 122 both on 8th of dec.).
So yesterday I arrived at ZRH airport on 07:28 and was looking for an germania check-in at Check-in 3 which I found soon and I've gotten Seat number 4F Gate E47 ST6091 08DEC0840 and the girl informed me that they will get closer information about boarding time 20 min. before 8. Well, I tried to find the gates numbered E after buying some duty free cigarettes, but wasn't that easy - the new sky metro didn't come for approx. 5 minutes or but than it worked - security was done also rapid and I've gotten a coffee while waiting for boarding nearby gate E47 which was nice because I'd a perfect look onto the runway. 0810 the flight from DUS arrived and our boarding was done by 0825 and quickly all pax entered the plane and so pushback was only 5 minutes late (and the plane was well fullfilled)
D-AGP? ZRH-DUS
landing in DUS was on time and the nicest thing was everything on board except alcohol costs 1 (!!!!) EUR ! *WOW* so I bought a cheese sandwhich and a coffee and pid whopping 2 EUR !!!!
disembarquement in DUS was done by bus (not so in ZRH and not so back) and passport control was done rather quick - it helps to smile and tell "my train !" but again the sky metro to the db station took time
unfortunatly ICE 123 was 30 minutes late and I was frozing too death on DUS main train station. Interview itself was also fine except that the guy does not know when he needs my help ?! *grrr*
return I took ICE 122 (Plan und Spar and Bahn Card 25 ) which was late too but the people where helpful and told me my connection to Neuss a few minutes before arrival (change from 19 to 12 within 1 minutes - nearly without baggage and with two good feet it worked). Met my friends later - and had a little accident also later - you should be more careful if you ran with socks on a timber floor (gut gewachster Pakett) - because I lied myself onto it (auf die Fresse gefallen) - ok my noise hurts.
Well today after 3 hours of sleep I arrived on DUS airport at 0550 and checked in for ST6090 09dec C40 0645 seat 5C which I changed into 23A B737-300 this time it made beep at security but afterwards passport control was rather quick and boarding was done by 0605 pushback was early and we land also in ZRH 4 minutes early
again everything for 1 EUR and not usual for a flight that early three very, very friendly flight attandands
D-AGEE DUS-ZRH
again passport check was quick and I arrived back on 09:30 and went into bed again at 10 (very, very tired Jumbolino with a ramped noise)

Hi Jumbolino,

I think youre positive surprised about Gexx, isn´t it?
What about the load factor on your flights?
Greetings to your ramped nose, think positive!

Hi Markus,
although two flights are not that representative I can highly recommend GEXX flights on time, leather seats, cheap beverages, all seats the same price, friendly crew - also early in the morning - what need you more ?
ZRH-DUS was nearly full booked (Fokker 100), but today DUS-ZRH the B737-300 was only 15 or 20% fullfilled.
Thanks for your greetings - hopefully my noise will be better soon - but now it looks like it will change the color a little bit into a nice lila

Oh my, this is so shocking that they used the 737 instead of the F100! I´m booked on a GEXX flight in two weeks, only in order to fly the F100 - I hope they don´t change the equipment...
Thanks for the report.
BTW, did you know when an ICE is runnning 30 minutes late you´re entitled to a 10 EUR voucher?

Nice report Jutta ... sorry to hear about your mishap !
Good to hear GermaniaExpress are shaping up well - we are using their MUC/IST flights for some of our passengers based in NUE and Augsburg, and I`ve not yet heard any feedback from them.
Hope you managed to persuade your prospective client that they simply can`t survive without your help

Hi Jutta,
It is good to hear that Gexx is offering a very competitive product - when it works. Unfortunately, from what I have heard so far, Gexx is rather unreliable, both in terms of punctuality and in terms of route planning. If you are following their announcements, they constantly keep introducing and withdrawing new routes, so for me, it seems to be rather hard to predict, if a service will still be around if I am booking months in advance.
However, I really like the idea of a "flat rate" ticket price - very business-friendly, I wish there'd be something like that on my frequent-flying route to VIE. LH/OS tries to rip you off with fares in excess of 700 Euro in Eco if you want to book five or six days in advance, 4U still charges >360 Euro, only AB is offering a good value for money at round about 280 Euro (but is often booked out a few days before my appointments).
Anyway, a very interesting report about a little-known airline. Can't wait to read about your next travel experiences.

To all thanks for your kind replies,
and yes, I know about the 10 EUR voucher, but when the purser came it was running only 20 min. late so I didn't ask for it and in francfort I had no time left
and I know germania very well, he was one of the Atraxis flight planning (SkyTrack) customers in 2001
and as I know today I was lucky to get the Fokker 100 which was as mentioned left in my log book

@Frederic, if gexx don't change their mind (I heard something like that they will change it) you can fly the Fokker100 from BRU soon
and Patrick - I was surprised too, as I saw a 737-300 tuesday morning instead of an expected F100 but maybe they had too many bookings for the return flight ?

Thanks for posting this Gexx report, I was quite surprised when I read that you got a 733 - because I never saw Gexx using the 733, and I thought the remaining two (or three?) Germania 733s were busy with ethnic charters to PRN and SAW.
@Daniel, Patrick, Frederic, ...: I wouldn't worry too much about getting a 733, they have so many F100s and so few 733s, chances are little that you get a 733 on both flights (well, Daniel has only one flight on Gexx...).

Hi Alex,
it was efinitly a 737-300 what I had gotten for return, and for outbound I have gotten an F100 as expected before and yes, the chances are good to get at least one F100 flight if you book two (all others arriving something before 8 am. in ZRH from ST where indeed Fokker 100's as usual, therefore I was thinking that maybe the return flight for DUS was very well booked and therefore they used a bigger plane)
and yes, Alex I've never heard before that any other airline is selling all non-alcoholic drinks as well as ham and cheese (ham or cheese) sandwiches for whopping 1 EUR
