basically , it was end of term , and had to pack my shit b4 heading off bak home to dubai ...i seriously couldnt wait anylonger !just finished my exams, and left Leeds straight away on friday , stayed over the night at my friend's house in Man, then i woz off to the airport on Sat .
This was my first experiance with BA for sometime , the last time i travelled woth them was in early 2001 ... so i thought id give them a try, cuz i heard they changed alot !
BA 1405
dept 1840 actual 1910
arrival 1940 actual 2010
Economy
Manchester to LHR
A320
I checked in at 4 for that flight . the weather was awful , it was rainy and very windy ! plus thunderstorms were over london, -checking in was uneventful . not to many desks , (about 4 were operational ) The woman told me that the flight to Dubai was 100% full , and overbooked too. i managed to get a front row seat on World traveller PLUS .
flights to ams and cdg , cork ,dublin and aberdeen . after wondering ages around terminal 3 - which is very boring , no boarding anouncment was made till 1830 , where they said that the plane was delayed till 1855 due to late dept. from LHR . the acft landed , and we boarded the plane , i was in 7A , and right infront me ,was , believe it or not , SVEN ERIKSON , ENGLAND'S FOOTBALL MANAGER !! He obviously was quite busy , but managed to sign my boarding pass for me.
The acft was the most comfortable ive ever been on .. it had leather seats, very good condition , wich felt very comfortable, and even on a such a short flight , a snack box was given , which consisted of a tuna sandwich , kitkat , water . no screens were on th acft though , but i didnt matter on such a short flight. the FA's were very efficient and helpful , and there were many as well , about 6 (?) . The flight was 95 % full . landed in LHR , as we cruised around london town for abit . BA def surpasses AF and KL inthis . were they are under staffed, less helpful and no food ...
found my way to terminal 4 , i woz supposed to meet up with 2 other kuwaiti gurls in the temrinal, but they didnt check in yet , as their flight was over booked as well , and BA offered them a night's stay in LHR ... they werent very happy ...
as i got into terminal 4 , made a last few phone calls , the terminal was packed . with loads of flights, to Australia, srilanka, Kuwait, Seoal .
All of a sudden the fire alarm went on , and we had to evacuate the main terminal !
what a mess ! it was a flase alar, anmyways , so were were back just in time for my flight .
BA 109
B777 to DUBAI (DXB)
world traveller plus
Seat 21K
gate 8
dept 2140 actual 2150
arrival 0830 actual 0730
OUr flight was next to the BA flight kuwait . the irls didnt make it , so i decided to check in to my flight .
I went to the gate, and right infront me was a 17 year old girl travelling on world traveller , the agent at checkin said to her , 'how about an upgrade to world traveller plus ?' , she repleid by saying : that would be lovely!' , then told her her new seat was 21K , which was ironically , my seat !
then came my turn , and he sayd : ' how about an upgrade to club world Mr Al-Hilou?' , your new seat is 10E ... i was thrilled ....
i boarded the acft, and flight was 100% full in all 4 classes .... the clubworld seats were simply AMAZING !! the looked like fist class seats ! i was facing towards the end of the plane , which was quite odd during takeoff and landing !
The seats were very comfortable , as i explored the eat , i accidently opened the life vest jacket ...lol! i ofcourse got strange looks from this posh granny next to me ....
take off was more or less on time , the captainm also anbnouced that some bags were not loaded on the acft with us because of the fire alarm , so i just hoped mine would be on ...
when we took oof , the Dinner service commeced straight away . this was on the menu :
APPETISERS
PRAWN AND CRAB COCKTAIL
OR
A COMBINATION OF SPICED AUBERGINE AND RED PEPPER WITH YOUGHURT AND HERB DRESSING
WITH
FRESH SALAD SERVED WITH VINAGAIRETTE
MAIN COURSES
GRILLED BEEF WITH TARRAGON BUTER, WILTED SPINACH, SAUTEED MUSHROOMS AND POTATOES FONDANTES
OR
FISHERMAN'S PIE WITH GLAZED POTATO TOPPING
OR
TOMATO, BASIL AND MOZERELLA CHEESE RAVIOLI
OR
STICKY CHICKEN AND NOODLE SALAD
DESERT
CHOCLATE MORELLO CHERRY CRUMBLE TART
AND FRESH FRUIT
COFFE, HERBAL TEAS AND ALCOHOLIC DRINKS ...
BREAKFAST
CONSISTS OF ORANGE
SPECIAL ENERGISING SMOOTHIE OF YOGHURT STRAWBERRYU, ORANGE AND MINT
FRESH FRUIT AND GREEK YOGHURT
SELECTION OF WARM BREADS AND PASTRIES
I HAD THE ABURGINES WITH SALAD FOR STARTERS AND THE BEEF FOR MAINS AND THE PUDDING FOR DESERT , WHICH WAS VERY GOOD !!
i watched a few episodes of friends and abit of Terminator 3 b4 going to sleep . I missed breakfast and got woken up 10 mins b4 descending into dubai ,
very smooth landing , but had to wait ages for a long taxi ,
since we were extra early , our gate was occupied , so had to wait for the ethiopian B767 to taxi out . I laso managed to see loads of EK A330's and A777's plus the A340 (looked stunning!) and AQ b777 and GF A320 ,plus LH A343
managed to get thru customs and baggage claim very easily , my luggage was the fist to come out ... i also saw an old friend from dubai (leena) who came from Dublin , she was on the same flight but i never knew !!
Basically , Im well impressed with BA , well done on a new product, and they have def improved . They are much better than AF and KL in my opinion , and is ver close to Emirates .... BA's bizz seat are far better , but EK's catering compensates for this ...
But i will def. try BA agaon . ive still got my return next month .
Its good to be back in Dubai - the weather is excellent , and miss my parents .
off to the Motor car shows - todays the last day ...
any comments ?

Excellent trip report, Ahmed. Looks like the demi-annual student migration back to the UAE has begun, and is now in full swing! LOL
I' due to fly to the UAE myself, this Saturday--only I'm going to Abu Dhabi, and am flying NW/KL. Who would've thought that I'd actually miss AD in my lifetime? haha

Excellent trip report. I myself just got into Kuwait from the US this Monday on NW/KL. British Airways is always full to KWI, it never ceases to amaze me.
Glad you enjoyed British Airways. I agree with you on all comments when comparing them to EK. EK's food is better otherwise everything else is of a lower standard. The only exception from my experience is that, BA's crew's have more consistency when compared to EK's crew.
Though I still prefer KLM to BA and EK. KLM's crew genuinely cares and always seems to go the extra mile for their passengers and that’s why I keep coming back to KLM. The service and the airport in Amsterdam.

i def. agree with you , The New Emirate's cabin however does look impressive, escp the entertainment ,. This combined with the excellent catering could make this surpass BA . however , BA this time Def. Impressed me , it has been such a long time , and will def. try them again whenever possible .
KL , however , did def dissappoint me when i tried them from lhr to dxb post sept. 11 , nothing was good !! when they start flying the 777's this summer to dubai , i might give them another try .
hope you have a good time in Kuwait ...
