Hi everyone, here is my first published trip report from November 2000.
14 November 2000
Arrived at LHR at 0445 for the 0730 departure.Check in was quick as the que was quite small at this hour of the day.Departure was delayed due to a heavy frost and waiting on the de-icer to arrive,we departed about 45 min's late.I am not a fan of the 767 series,I much prefer the 777 or DC-10 to it.
The flight was about half full. The food seems to have improved since my last UA flight. No service issues.
We arrived on time at ORD but had to wait 20 minutes for an ANA 777-200 to be pulled off of our gate. This I could not understand as this and a JAL 747-400 were the only planes at the international terminal!
Due to the arrival time.about 10:45,we had no que at imigration and customs. We were off the plane and had our bags in 10 minutes, amazing.
Took the tram to our connecting flight.
Flight left on time,no service issues.I love the A320 series, the extra width in the cabin is a real bonus when compared to the 737/757.Slept the entire flight.

N322AW(second flight on this plane)
I always try to use America West when on the west coast.I know lots of people have service issues with them, but i've had about 20 flights with them(not bad for a european!)and all have left on time with good service.
This flight was on time and full!! The plane was full of Koreans off to gamble their money away in the fantastic Las Vegas.
18 November 2000
Took the red-eye for a connection in ORD to MIA to see the Dolphins vs Jets.Got upgraded to Econaplus, the extra 5" is well worth having.Best economy seat/space yet...well done United. No food service as it's a red-eye.Had a couple of beers and slept.Arrived on time at ORD.
Nice to get an old 727 as in a few years they will all be gone from regular service. The captain announced a delay due to an inspection of the aircraft. Then another delay. One hour later they lets us back into the terminal with $10.00 of food vouchers each.We managed to depart two and a half hours late after they riveted some parts of the wing together!(my girlfriend almost died..she hates flying)
To be fair to UA they gave us all $10.00 for food, and on the flight they handed out $50.00 travel coupons to everyone.
The thing that upset me was due to the delay we arrived at the end of the 2nd Q for the Dolphins game(because we were behind schedule we got stuck in the late arrivers traffic to the game!)
22 November 2000
Another delay on a 727 flight. The number one engine was leaking oil but they could not locate where from.
The covers came off the engine and they ran it up to full power at the gate to try and locate where the leak was from. The leak was found and fixed. We departed one and a half hours late.
N767UA(third flight on this plane)
The flight left on time and was uneventful. This is the last of 3 UA LHR bound flight's from ORD and it was totally full.Landed on time at LHR to a rather cold wet day.
United seems to have overcome many of the issues they faced in the summer.I am glad they are pulling forward the de-fleet of the 727-200 by 25 planes this year. It's not that I dislike the plane,I don't.I just want my plane to leave on-time.
America West were as good now as they were last time I flew them.
Both airlines performed well and would not hesitate to re-book them again.
My next trip may be in April with US Airways from LGW-LAX.I want to travel on a US A333 before UA sends them back to Airbus if the merger goes ahead.
