Hello all, I apologize for not posting this report sooner, I had typed it on a seperate computer and saved it, then it got deleted somehow. My flight numbers were unavailable at press time.

Here is a trip report from my weekend adventure in my hometown.

Friday August 29th, 2003
Delta Air Lines
Boeing 767-300
MCO-ATL
10:05 AM-11:26 AM
Fl# N/A

Check In: I arrived at Orlando Int'l Airport at 8:30 AM and checked in my baggage at the curbside check-in. The Skycap was very friendly and efficient. Total check-in time was about 4 minutes. I proceeded to security which was slightly busy. I passed through without incident with security time being abour 3 minutes.

Boarding: Boarding went as smooth as you can get on a Boeing 767-300. I was seated in row 35 seat A. The aircraft was extremely clean, the seats were in excellent condition, and I wasnt cramped at all.

Flight: We took off from MCO about 3 minutes early under beautiful sunny August day. We took off northbound and passed direcly overhead downtown Orlando, then our Captain turned us slightly to the northwest as we passed through northern Florida then into southern Georgia. About midway into our flight we passed over this power plant of some kind that I have noticed nearly I every time I fly this route, maybee someone on this site knows what I am talking about. Headphones were placed in our seatbacks and I tuned in and listened to some music for awhile as the F/A's came through the cabin with offering the traditional snack mix, and water, orange juice and a couple other limited beverages. I opted for some water. The F/A that served me was extremely professional, and courteous. We approached Atlanta from the west and I had an awesome view of the downtown Atlanta skyline just before we touched down on the southside of the airport. As we were on the taxiway I observed several Delta aircraft from MD-88's to a couple 777's, an AA Super 80, 2 Continental 737's, and a few CRJ's. We docked at Concourse E which is the Int'l Concourse in ATL.

Baggage Claim/Transportation: I took my time walking to the baggage claim. If you are not familiar with ATL's layout, ATL has 6 concourses (T,A,B,C,D,E) and E is the farthest from the baggage claim. A high speed train connects the concourses together and they also have moving escalators that will take you from concourse to concourse. I chose the moving escalators since I needed the workout. I picked up my baggage without any problems and headed to the MARTA station to board a train to the Peachtree Center station which was near my hotel. The train ride was about 15 minutes and I really enjoyed it. I stepped off at the Peachtree Center and walked to my hotel, which was the Westin Peachtree Plaza  Smile

Delta Air Lines
Boeing 767-300
ATL-MCO
5:20 PM- 6:49 PM
Fl# N/A

Check In: I arrived at Hartsfield Atlanta Int'l Airport 2 hours early so I could do some aircraft viewing and grab a bite to eat. Check-In was a breeze as I tried Delta's new Kiosk system and it took me about 1 minute to check my bags and I was all set to pass through security. Security was not a problem as lines were short and it took about 1 minute to get through without any incident. I stopped in at the Chilis to go in Concourse A to get some dinner before doing some aircraft viewing.

Boarding: As much as I dreaded leaving the great city of Atlanta, I was looking forward to another flight with Delta Air Lines. I was seated in row 19 seat F aboard another Boeing 767-300. Once again the aircraft was clean and the seat was comfortable.

Flight: I was sitting next to a very nice lady in her late 40's and we chatted about the city of Atlanta, flying and all kinds of other stuff. We departed ATL right on-time towards the west, then turning southbound over central Georgia. As we were over the Macon area we encounted some light turbulance as we passed near a storm brewing in the vicinity. Sortly after that we were in clear weather and the F/A's came through the cabin to offer limited drink and snack service. I opted for water as I usually do in these short flights. The F/A that served us was extremely attractive and polite. We approached Orlando from the north and flew just west of downtown before touching down on-time.

De-Boarding: I was the last passenger in the aircraft to leave their seat and I went to one of the F/A's and asked them permission to take some photos. As I snapped a few photos in coach and made my way into the First Class Cabin. The attractive F/A that served me thought it was great that I was taking photos and invited me to the cockpit to snap a few pictures. On my out she gave me permission to snap a photo of her, which I did. Due to security reasons I will not state her name or her crew base.

Key:

ATL: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Int'l Airport
MCO: Orlando Int'l Airport

Overall: I enjoyed my trip to Atlanta! Delta Air Lines did an excellent job. Flights were on-time, F/A's were very nice and polite, the aircraft were clean, and In-Flight service was excellent for a short flight.

Stuart,

Thank You for the review. Yes, I'm a 767 guy, I've fown more 767's than any other aircraft (including the 737). I've eaten at the Chili's probably over 75 times. Sorry I had to get off AIM so quick.

Nice trip report! Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. The 767's a great plane...probably the plane I've been on the most along with the CRJ. I've noticed the plant in Georgia and have wondered what it was as well.

Jeffrey1970: Thank you for your review, you responded to my last trip report when I flew Southwest to  Smile I havent posted the pictures yet but I plan to very soon! I noticed the controversy about how you put "God bless through Jesus" at the end of your posts going on in the site-related forum. I support you and I think its great that you include it!

BH346, Thank you for the review. I fly the MCO-ATL/ATL-MCO route all the time so thats probably why I fly the 767 so much. I have not been on a CRJ yet, but I would like to give one a shot soon. I'm glad i'm not the only one who has noticed the plant.

That was very nice trip report and did got very good flight to ATL and how is they doing? You did took on the MARTA to the peachtree? Which one of the station that you were got off with their train? I was used on the MARTA to my brother apartment in Sandy Springs all of the times. Also, those are alot of too many traffic in Atlanta and it would be not good for us and I decide to take on the marta myself. Thanks anyway!  Smile

Excellent report!! I'd love to see some pictures.

I fly through ATL and CLT a lot down to SAV and HXD. And yes, I know the power plant you are talking about! I snapped this picture enroute from CLT - HXD (Hilton Head) on a USAirways Express Dash-8 in November 2002, I'm happy to share it..

Is this the powerplant you are reffering to.. I snapped this shot on a cross country flight between SFB and AHN which is just east of Atlanta.

ScottysAir, Yes I did take MARTA from ATL to the Westin Peachtree Plaza. I got off of MARTA at The Peachtree Center Station. MARTA is a great way to get around, especially if your not a local.

Captain777/Mjzair, Thanks for your reviews! Both pictures look familiar but I am still not sure which one it is. Hopefully we'll figure this out!

The picture I posted would most likley be it - As it is more southern in the state and if you were flying to MCO you would most likely pass it.

But it could be the one that Mzjair is talking about....

Great trip report! Did you get to chat with the pilots when you visited the cockpit? Sounds like you had a nice FA on the flight back to Orlando!  Smile

Again great trip report, please post another one about your next flight!

Thank You for the review! The Pilots had already de-boarded the a/c so I didnt get a chance to talk to them. The F/A was really a sweetheart, I wish I would of been single at the time Big grin
