BA302 LHR-CDG February 11th 2004

We arrived at London Heathrows Terminal 4 at 4am, Check-in didnt open until 4:30am, once we checked in we were given boarding cards and were also checked in to tonights return flight. We proceeded through to departures only to find not one shop was open! We proceeded to gate 1B where we went through to the lounge, our flight was called at 5:40am, we walked down a few ramps to a waiting bus to take us to our aircraft. We got to the aircraft which was parked away from the terminal building, we boarded our Boeing 757-200 (G-CPEM) and took our seats, I was seated in 29B. We pushed back at around 6:22am and taxiied to runway 27L, we were number 2 for take off.

At 6:40am full power was applied and we were off, thundering down the runway and up, we climbed to our altitude of 23000ft, for the entire flight we didnt climb any higher, about 12mins into the flight the cabin crew started to serve breakfast, the 'all day deli' it consisted of a muffin, vanilla and peach yoghurt and fruit salad, followed by a drink of your choice, after 20mins the captain anounced we were to be landing in 15mins so there was a rush to get breakfast cleared away. We were descending through some very thick cloud, the cabin called for cabin crew to be seated for landing, thought it was strange, we still in clouds, then all of a sudden the clouds cleared and we only had a bout 100ft to go, we touched down right on schedule at 8:20am local time, it would be some 25mins before we were on stand due to an arguement between the pilots and french atc, we eventually parked on a remote stand away from the terminal building after doing 2 laps of the terminal.

BA329 CDG-LHR February 11th 2004

We arrived back at CDG at 6:20pm, as we were already checked in for our return flight we went and enjoyed a french mcdonalds, at about 7pm we decided to head through to departures to do some duty free shopping, only to find there was only about 3 shops, we now had 3 hours to wait until boarding, it was the longest wait of my life, at 9pm the flight was called for boarding, we headed to gate 28B, had our bags scanned and went to board the aircraft, yet again, we had to go on another bloody bus, the aircraft was parked a fair way from the terminal. We boarded our 'babybus 319' (G-EUPA) to our delight we were upgraded to 'Club Europe' we pushed back a little late, captain must of been in a hurry as some passengers were still standing putting their things into the overhead lockers. During the taxi, I happened to notice the right hand wing was missing its winglet, I checked the left wing, this one did have a winglet, thought it was strange to fly with only one winglet. We took off a little late and dinner was served, I turned away the club europe grub in favour of a tuna and sweetcorn sandwich from euro traveller. We crossed the south coast of england and were only 20mins from landing, the captain requested a landing on runway 09R instead of 09L so we had a short taxi to Terminal 4, his request was succesful and we landed 10minutes ahead of schedule despite leaving CDG late

Great report, enjoyed reading it! I love the sound of the 757's when they increase throttle on the runway - it's a great sound!

Hi Markus,

Yes load factors, the 757 was pretty full only counted 3 maybe 4 empty seats, as for the A319 there were only around 30 people on board, most of them sleeping too. Very pretty F/As on both flights too! Oooops forgot to mention those! hehe
