Friday, March 19, US 3860 (Allegheny), Dash-8 ISP-PHL:

Decent flight, despite the snow, left ISP on time, got into PHL about a half-hour late due to ATC at PHL, Dash-8 was about half-full...gates at PHL were right near each other, I forget which ones...layover was about an hour, not overly significant...had 8A-C to myself...

Friday, March 19, US 2830 (Mesa), ERJ-145 PHL-RDU:

Was originally supposed to be routed on a Mesa CRJ to DCA, and then a Piedmont Dash-8 from DCA to RDU...the PHL-DCA flight was delayed, so I successfully stood by on an on-time flight nonstop to RDU...was about 80% full, although my row (15 A-D-F) was empty except for me...got into RDU on time (effectively two hours early for me), and got to my LaQuinta Inn hotel via an airport shuttle they had between the airport and the hotel, about a half-mile away...

Spotting advice at RDU: The hotels down Airport Boulevard are all very good places to spot...the LaQuinta I stayed in may have been the best place to spot, but anywhere in that clump is very good...of course, I wasn't in the area for the weekend looking out for the GlaxoSmithKline Triple-Seven Virtual Charter...additionally, if you are interested in a different type of spotting, the Texas Steakhouse is just a block away...the bartenders there are VERY easy on the eyes...

Saturday, March 20, Seton Hall vs. Duke, RBC Arena, Raleigh:

My boys from Seton Hall got killed, ending their season in the second round of the NCAA's, and yes, I know nearly the entire team...didn't make me too happy...had to stay overnight before flying back the next day

Sunday, March 21, UA 5382 (Air Wisconsin Airlines), BAe-146 RDU-IAD:

Was stuck in seat 13E, and then found myself sitting next to somebody who needed a seat-belt extender...fortunately, that was the low point of the flight...a very nice person to talk to, and fortunately, both myself and the person sitting in the window seat weighed, combined, maybe 250 pounds soaking wet...left RDU on-time, got to IAD about 15 minutes early...BTW, I HATE the IAD airport's layout...had to take the mobile lounge between gates...not fun...got into C16, left from A1

Sunday, March 21, UA 7870 (Atlantic Coast), CRJ-200 IAD-PHL:

Had 5A and C to myself, which was cool, left an hour late because they had to get the Auxiliary Power Unit fixed (turned into a 2 and a half hour layover at IAD)...laughed every time the Flight Attendant said "Thank you for flying United Express/Atlantic Coast Airlines" and at the end of the flight asked her if she really meant "Thank you for flying Independence Air"...she said she couldn't say that yet...got to PHL at the end of the D concourse, and had to go to F22 for my ISP flight, which meant I had to re-clear security at terminal F...fortunately, I still had an hour and a half to catch my flight, and the lines at Terminal F at PHL were not a factor...

Sunday, March 21, US 4262 (Piedmont), Dash-8 PHL-ISP:

Left on time, had the entire row 9 to myself (5-across, needless to say, I stretched out on the makeshift bed from takeoff to landing)...left on time, got in on time...uneventful flight...

Overall: Certainly couldn't complain...I bought my tickets 7 hours before takeoff, so to pay $264 from ISP to RDU wasn't bad at all...would have been nice to see a Seton Hall win though... Sad

Very interesting trip report. You really managed to get on quite an assortment of regional aircraft and airlines. All in all a very interesting panorama of regional air service on the East Cost.

I saw a dude from Seton Hall on David Letterman a few nights ago. I think his name was Andre. He was throwing items off a building onto the street below. It was pretty funny. He threw pizza dough, paint can, water jug and a bottle of champagne and tried to get it in a basketball hoop in the middle of the street.

Squad-You're talking about Andre Barrett, the point guard and unquestioned star of the team...I missed the episode, unfortunately, shame on me...from firsthand experience, he really is a great kid...hopefully with some luck he'll be picked in the NBA Draft this June, although at 5'10" (officially, that's stretching it slightly) most people consider him somewhat undersized to play in the NBA...
