this ones a bit late too...
HEL-ARN (Stockholm) dep. 05/01/2001
AY933 DEP.0745 ARR.0745 (i hour flight, time difference)
got to the airport at 7am was very tired and very hungover since i only slept two hours and was out clubbing the previous night. Well went to check-in and found out that the plane was full so i was put on stand-by (again..see.Hel-jfk-hel) well went to the gate to find out that the plane was completely full so once again i ended up in the cockpit jump-seat since it was the only extra jump-seat on the md-80. Took my really cramped seat between the pilot and co-pilot. Took of in schedule. had a beautiful view when we got to cruising altitude, sun was shining and pretty blue sky. F/A came and offered me a salmon sandwich from c-class which i refused beacuse i was feeling very sick...had only one glass of water the entire flight. Fater 30 mins we started decending to stockholm Arlanda Airport...landed in time, waited for the other passengers to leave at the cockpit door and noticed that everyone was staring at me like " was he in the cockpit?" anyway then went throught passport..well they didnt even check my passport..and then jumped on a shuttle bus to town...
decided to try SAS this time since i always fly this leg on Finnair. Well went to check-in only to find out that, suprisingly, i was on stanby(again!!). So well, went to the gate and noticed about 10 other satnd-bys...we all waited untill 10 mins before departure befored they called us i got my seat which was very luckily 7F so i was seated in SAS EuroBusiness Class. The cabin wasnt really more spacious han econmy. Food was okay..Got salmon..(cold though) with some potatoe salad and strawberries had a bit of champagne and a oj and then we allready landed. Had only hanbaggage so headed through passport to the taxi staion and took the taxi home....

I flew HEL-ARN with SAS back in May 2000. It was on board a B737-600 in Economy. Flight was practically empty which was great even though it was just a 40 min hope. Vantaa Airport is fantastic, I really like the lay out and it has a nice feeling to it. Everything was so efficient. Arlanda on the other hand looks really run down, and there is a distinct lack of shops in the departure area(its basically the same 3-4 shops in each pier)

What is your opinion of Arlanda? I will have a layover ther for about 5 hours this summer and I was wondering if it is a nice place to spot etc. Has anyone here ever been to the SAS airline lounge there as well?? Thaks for any info.

I have been to the SAS business lounge at Arlanda. I think it´s great. Maybe a bot small but really comfortable seats and you serve your self with wine, beer, whisky or whatever you might want. They also have small breads and crackers with different chesse and so on. Enjoy your stay at Arlanda!

Why are you having a layover for 5 hours in ARN? I do believe you should hop a Finnair flight to Helsinki and spend two hours or so there... there's basically a departure between HEL-ARN every hour... besides that's more of a oneworld hub anyways and I hear the lounge is fantastic...

Trvlr, the restaurnt(non-airside) upstairs has a good view of part of the terminal. Or else if you walk along the windows of the Arlanda SKy Shopping(? whatever it is called) arcade you will see them quite well.

Thanks for all the responses. It was real hard, but I finally found the Stockholm Airport website. It looks like a nice airport. Can anyone tell me how easy it is to get from Terminals 4 or 5 to Terminal 2? Thanks
