Okay so this is my first ever trip report so bear with me!!!
Aircraft: A320, was supposed to be a A319
Status: Overbooked, Ontime
Ok so my day started off at 3:30 in the morning, I had to go and pick up the other person in my group, anyway we got to the airport and there was no NW curbside check in, and no one to help bring our luggage in, but believe it or not the police officer helped us bring our stuff in, there was a medium line at the check-in for coach, there was absolutely no line for first class check in, so we got in to the line and the guy yelled "First Class Check In" and I went over he asked my name and the names of the others in our party, he was not very cheerful, but not un-cheerful, check-in took a strange amount of time (around 15 minutes), anyway I was surprised and very happy to see the addition of "Priority" Luggage tags to our luggage! We were directed to our gate 3, and the guy with the wheelchair came for my grandmother, security was a fast and easy process, we were in the new addition of MHT, it is absolutely great, and easy to find your way around! So we get to our gate and about 10 minutes later the woman, not a very happy woman, but she didn't let it show to much, announced that the flight is overbooked and that they were offering a $300 dollar voucher and a seat on the next flight. About 10 minutes after that she began First Calss boarding we went towards her and she stopped the rest of the people from getting on board and took us down shutting the door behind us, she was working alone, anyway once on the plane we were greeted by a very nice woman who took our coats and got us a beverage. The seats were very comfortable!!!! After everyone boarded and the door was shut the first thing out of the f/a's mouth was well she was depressed, referring to the gate woman. I did not enjoy hearing that, I don't think that they need to talk about things like that it does not give them a professional look. Once we took off the in-flight service started, we got another beverage and then a continental breakfast, cereal and a warm muffin, it was actually pretty good. After breakfast the f/a's were very attentive always on the ball keeping our every need attended too. After landing they wished us a lovely day.
I hope your not sleeping yet, there's still much more!!!
Aircraft: 757-300, was supposed to be a 757-200
Status: Overbooked, Ontime
Okay this plane in my opinion was not as comfortable as the A320, but still it was good! Boarding was not that good, they made me take my grandmother down the jetway myself and she wouldn't put my Skymiles number in . Anyway she was working alone to. Moving on once on-board the f/a's did not greet us until about 15 minutes later, then they got us drinks they were not very cheerful, two guys and they were so loud talking too these two old ladies in the first row that were going to phoenix, I don't think that is necessary either but maybe it is just me? Ok so there was no food service on this flight, oh strike that there was actually a granola bar, if that counts as food, I really like how they serve the drinks in actual GLASS!! This was a pretty basic flight from here on out, and the one thing I don't like is on a plane with two doors why don't they let the First Class Passengers out the front door??
Transfer: 7-DTW is a very nice airport
Okay this is an absolutely a great aircraft! I now love DC-10's! I felt like I was swimming in my seat it was so comfortable, the seats almost lie flat!!!! And the leg and foot rest is great!! The personal IFE is small but is still very useful! When boarding this aircraft we were greeted with Mai Ta'is and very nice f/a's! There was 1 Japanese woman and 1 man, it took a very long time for the rest of the aircraft to finish boarding, during that they offered more Mai Ta'is! Once we started to taxi the pilot came on and told us that there was a little bit of weather on the way out of MSP and that he would come on again when we reached our cruising altitude. Just a side note NW owns MSP we were in line to take off behind 5 other NW aircraft and behind us I saw at least another 5. Anyway once we took off and reached our cruising altitude 31,000ft. (info. Provided by the airshow!) The inflight service started, drinks at first then we watched some short programming, after that about an hour and a half. They asked us what we wanted for dinner, Chicken or Pasta, I ordered the Chicken, it was good, it came with a little side salad and a roll with some potatoes, the pasta came with some sausage. After that they offered us an ice cream sundae. Then the movie started, "Big Fish" it was an okay movie, during the movie I felt like the f/a's just left us alone, they seemed to disappear. After the movie they served another meal, Pasta Salad, 3 pieces of shrimp mmm and a piece of Key Lime cheesecake. After that they played more short programming which always ended with an episode of Pink Panther ! After landing they finally let us out the front door!!!

Greetings FunFlyer. Sounds like you had fun. There's nothing like jetting around the world up front. The meal service on your MSP-HNL flight seemed
a little sub par for such a long flight but as long as you enjoyed, that's all that matters. I love the DC-10 as well. Best windows in the sky. Looking forward to your next report.

If i'd paid or used mileage for a First Class seat i'd sure expect more than a granola bar!
Looking at a 7 day round trip between DTW and MSP,the fate is $1732.30 for a 1 hour 51 minute flight, and all you get is a granola bar! - have they lost the plot or have the people who pay this crazy money???!!
