In the first of my photo/video trip reports covering China. I tried to use the MAGLEV for the first time to go to the Airport, and this report covers it.

Excellent pictures! The maglev probably makes more sense on longer routes.
The video is great too! Do you feel much of the acceleration? It seems as though the ride is not too bumpy at 430 km/h?
As you said, the Chinese will never recoup their investment. I suppose it doesn't matter to them, as this is mainly a prestige project.
Also, I read somewhere Shanghai is expected to grow past the 70 mio people mark - maybe then they will be able to fully utilisize the maglev!

Awesome !!!
I've been to Shanghai last summer, unfortunately the Transrapid hadn't been inaugurated yet...
Happily the next time I'll go to Shanghai I'll be able to take a ride at 430 km/h

Big thank you for all your reports. Enjoyed each and every one of them. I was supposed to go to Shanghai a few weeks ago but had to postpone it until June or July. Look forward to riding the Maglev!

Very nice thank you. If everything goes well, we'll see that maglev in Munich They're planning 9 or 10 minutes travel time here with 6 hourly trains per direction.
