Hey guys, as many of you might know, im the guy who got criticized of the LGW-IAH Continental Trip Report. Well, I recently flew DME-LHR-DME on British Airways and I would like to share this wonderful experience leaving all the bits that I found out you guys didn't like
Departure City/Time: Moscow Domodedovo Airport/21:05
Arrival City/Time: London Heathrow Airport (T4)/22:10
Aircraft: Boeing 757-2...
registration: No Clue
I arrived at the airport comming directly from school and I was really excited to get out of Russia and into my favorite city in the world, London. I weather was ok, a bit cloudy but nothing special, though it was very very cold. This flight happened some time ago as you can see that the flight still operated into Terminal 4 at Heatrow. The weather in Moscow was easing down and the bitterness was slowly fading away.
Anyway, got followed by my dad to the check-inn area and I know that many people wont believe me, but I have the boarding pass ticket thing to prove it!
There was no que at the Club Europe check-inn and the check inn staff were very polite. I got my boarding pass and the invitation to the Navigation Club on the floor above. Security, no problem, no ques or anything. The new Business Lounge at DME is really nice but a bit to small. As I found out later on the flight was delayed but I didn't really care, there I sat enjoying myself on the internet watching out over the gates where to my surprise many Boeing 737's from Transaero were parked. Is this their hub or something?
Afterwords the speaker came on and we were ready for boarding. The flight was 100% full, there wasn't any separate or priority boarding for the J passenger but I didn't really care at this moment. I just got another 15 minutes to look at the beautiful 757 in it s wonderful livery. I was one of the last people to board the ac. My seat was number 3A, to my surprise it was situated in the very first row on the left side of the aircraft, Extra legroom! I was quit happy because the configuration of the ac was 2/3, so I didn't feel very cramped. We pushed back and the safety demonstration started on the overhead TV's. We rushed down the taxiway and take off started almost immediately after line up on the runway.
As I had predicted, no turbulence, it was a very calm take-off. The seats were ok, I don't really like the leather seats but that's just me....
The FA's came around with white hot towels ( don't know what you call them ) and then drinks. The FA's looked a bit grumpy thrue the whole flight but that wasn't going to ruin my flight. The food was served and I chose chicken, the dessert was something unreconisable so I didn't tuch it.
The BBC news came on and I listened, boring stuff again..... Then a the simpsons swicthed on and I finally started to enjoy the flight. I then fell asleep for about 2 hours or so.
When I woke up the food tray was gone and it was really dark, they had swicthed off some of the cabin lights, I was getting really tired, we had been in the air for about 3:30 minutes. We then started to decent over London and there was no holding time at all, we glided inn and the landing was perfect as well. We then took to the right where I could see Terminal 4. There we stood parked, the Capitan came on and told us that we had to wait for a 747 to taxi by. So we waited and waited, then this huge plan crossed our view. We then taxied to our gate on the back of the terminal and we disembarked.
Overall Rating; 8/10 ( due to the grumpy flight attendants )
Inbound flight trip report to come soon.
I found that the FA's weren't grumpy on the LHR-DME leg (they were very much the opposite), but they were a little on the LED-LHR leg. I think that the London to Russia flights are always a very long day for them.
