Gates at Larnaca are very limited as they are all far away from the terminals.
We actually boarded at Gate 4 and boarded a bus t take us to the aircraft.
Approaching the aircraft I saw the pilot looking strangely at the right engine, which had failed on our outbound journey from Manchester. See my previous MAN-LCA flight.
The cabin crew at the bottom of the stairs halted everyone whilst the pilot walked up. My first impressions of the cabin crew were very professional however I don't think they were by the end of my flight.
Confusion over seating, row 12 is Extra leg room medical. Ok its what we booked, however there are four seats in the middle, need I say there should be 3 but its charter. There was a woman who was sat in the row with my family all three of us. She snored throughout the whole 4 hours but the less said about her the better.
Slow power up, and the plane took all the runway to take off, according to a friend on the ground who we had been to see as well.VERY VERY slow climb, must have took 45 minutes to get to seat belt release which I believe is 18000.
Ok I fancied a Tea, not the best thing to have on a plane, but there you go. So that's what I ordered, I wouldn't have done if I could have foreseen the problems. Actual dialogue.
"Can I have a PG tips tea please"
She disappeared for 5 minutes and came bag with it.
"that's Â£3.80 please"
"ok im not arguing must have been stressful making it".
they disappeared further up the plane, and I realized in the little bag they give you with a spoon, sugar and serviette, there was no milk.
"5 minutes of constant pressing of cabin crew call"
"how can I help you sir"
"could I get some milk for this tea please"
disappeared once again.
"there is only one little carton left sir"
it was half ful, talk about cut backs.
anyway most of it went down the vacuum suction of the nearby toilet.
On the DC-10 the trays came out of the arm, in two sections and then the second section folded over to make a table.
I spent 5 minutes searching for a second section to my tray, there wasn't one.
we started our decent over London, and the captain confirmed this over the p/a.
"Kestrel 141 decent and maintain FL 17000"
and then he spoke to us, quite good to hear live ATC over the p/a system.
"London centre this is Kestrel 141 descending 27550 for 17000"
"sorry about that ladies and gentlemen."
after a few dips and lots of shaking the plane was finally down, thank god.
Notes about MyTravel
The entertainment on the particular DC-10 and outbound were both 18 rated films, and there was many young children onboard, something like a Disney drama film would have been better.

Again, I'm sorry about your bad experiences, but G-TAOS is in the scrap yard now, so MYT's service should be better this summer. In my books, you are lucky. I would have loved to go on one of those MYT DC-10-10's and delays, service etc don't really bother me.
MyTravel will have a much better service this summer. Major delays were caused last year by the DC-10-10's going tech, B757's had to be shipped to/from LBA to make up the numbers, a tight schedule where almost all aircraft were in service all the time, so any faulty aircraft caused big problems. However this year, they have dumped the DC-10-10's and have aquired a few more (more reliable and brand new) A320's and A321's. If last year's anything to go by, there shouldn't be too many problems, however all aircraft whatever age and size can have problems, so you just may be on a flight that has a 24hr delay.

Nice report. I flew on one of their DC10s last year and it was awful. Cramped seats, two hour delay, dreadful service and miserable cabin crew. No wonder MyTravel is in the state it's in. I'll certainly avoid them in the future, new aircraft or not!

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. MYT's charter arm has, operationally, a very good reputation in terms of professionalism and safety. In fact, they make rather alot of money. It's the rest of the group that ate up the money.
It takes a big man to admit they are wrong, and I am not a big man.
