Hey guys,
Just a short one to let you know about my trip if you're interested...

SYD-SIN(x)-Cape town- innsbruck - Salzburg- Geneva- Boston - LAX- SYD

Took off Sydney on Dec 15 2000
Singapore Airlines to Singapore, changed planes there and then another b 747-400 Megatop to Cape Ton via Jo'burg.
I love sinagpore airlines and everything about them was great, again.
food was good- entertainment AWESOME!!! the 25 hours on the planes flew by... wow.
the f/a's pay attention to the smallest of things - it was great.

January 3 2001
Then took Lufthansa B747-400 to Frankfurt,
awesome too- great airlines (food was brilliant- i hate airline food!)
and seats comfy and good pitch!- highly recommend it to anyone.

Changed at Frankfurt for an innsbruck flight (on Tyrolean airways - subsidiary of Austrian)... flew on a Dash 8 - was quite an experience in the clouds and coming through to land! lots of turbulence! Even got a light meal on the 40 minute flight.

January 16th
Next i departed from Salzburg for Geneva via Frankfurt again.
This time on a Fokker70 (i think.. or maybe it was 100)
and changed again, this time onto a Boeing 737 on Lufthansa - pathetic in that no meal or snack was served! (i guess us Australians are spoilt here!).

And like all European flights, 2/3 of the plane was "business class" and the back 1/3 was economy! - quite weird - and business class is so pathetic in that pitch is maybe 1" more, and instead of 3/3 config. it is 2/3 (but if youre stuck on the side with 3 people its the same as economy!!

January 23rd
From geneva to Frankfurt again to change on Lufthansa again, this time on an A320.
Changed onto a B747-200 to Boston. Flight was empty so had 4 seats to strech out in! Good flight and great food again. Lufthansa long hauls are great!

(what was interesting was that between 10am and 10.50 when my flight left, lufthansa operated 8 flights from Frankfurt to US cities such as LA, NY, Boston, Chiacgo etc...) That amazed me- plus there were ones later in the day, plus AA, UA, CO, etc who fly there too!)

January 29th
Then a United b767-200 from boston to LA... the 6.5 hour flight was great - I even got upgraded after asking if I could use points - they said only if you were a United FF member. But as we were about to push back, the gate agent came aboard and handed me a Biz class ticket!
It was one of their Internationally configured ones... with First class too- so the seats were BIG (unlike the Lufthansa inter european ones)
Food was awesome and F/A's were great too!

Then finally back home took a United 747-400 from LAX to Sydney on the 1st of Feb to Arrive back on Feb 3rd. the flight was OK... nothing great- United food was average and the service was completely lousy. Food was chuked at us, as if they couldnt care less. The average age of the F/A's was like 50 or something really bizzare!

Had a great trip and looking forward to hearing about other peoples summer vacations too!

Cheers!
