Well, on Sunday I moved a car-load of things up to Connecticut and Wednesday found myself a new apartment in Bridgeport, CT (about 22 miles from where i'll be working).... then moved my stuff in and left my car w/ a family friend and she took me to the DL / KBDL), USA - Connecticut">BDL airport. Hartford seems to be under construction right now; American Airlines is one one side of the airport in one terminal and everyone else is in a pretty new looking terminal, one half looking as though it isn't finished yet. Anyhow Delta had some delays with its departures yesterday afternoon (better than NYC where some flights didn't go at all) so we were a little late getting out of Hartford.

Thursday, July 1st
DL / KBDL), USA - Connecticut">BDL-ATL
Delta Flight #1499
Scheduled departure time: 3:30 pm
Actual departre time: 4:05 pm
Scheduled arrival time: 6:04 pm
Actual arrival time: 6:43 pm
Seat: 4D - first

Boarded in Zone 1 for a change to my seat 4D and had a diet coke as a pre-departure drink. It is amazing how attentive the flight attendants are to your every single need if you are sitting in front class... they almost seem dissapointed when you do not want something to drink- i even got a refill of my diet coke prior to leaving the gate. They had left small dasani bottles on every seat along with the customary pair of DL headphones. Though the departure time is listed as 4:09, it was a few minutes after that before we pushed back and even longer (about 4:30 or so) before the 757 filled to capacity in F/C and about 110 people in coach rocketed very very fast down the runway. We took off towards the southeast then made a turn toward the Long Island Sound and back over towards land going up to 37,000 feet. They routed our flight in the westerly direction to avoid the thunderstorms around the NYC and DC area. The "Delta Horizons" began and then beverage service began and I had a Finlandia vodka and diet sprite- one drink and i was feeling it; i don't know if they are just strong on airplanes or what. The f/a came around with snacks and I had a bag of the DL ranch snack mix, cape cod pretzels, fisher pretzels, and a biscoff cookie- i don't fly first often so I wanted to get the full complement of snacks  Wink/being sarcastic She came around consistantly for more drink orders; I had another diet coke after waking up from my short nap... About 25 minutes prior to landing in Atlanta it began to get a bit choppy so the captain asked the f/a's to prepare for arrival... we descended through some very tall cloud formations and it did indeed get a bit choppy... the extremely professional on-board leader, who did all the PA announcements as flawlessly as I've ever heard them, clearly read the connecting gate information for passengers going to such magnificent locales as Tucson, AZ, Dothan, AL, and Wilmington, NC. We slammed down on the runway about 40 minutes off schedule and pulled into gate B32. This flight (in theory) was continuing onto Dallas/Ft. Worth, however, the flight crew deplaned and our aircraft was readied to board a flight to New Orleans (wouldn't mind a visit there  Smile/happy/getting dizzy )....

Delta Flight #730
Scheduled departure time: 8:22pm
Actual departre time: 8:22 pm
Scheduled arrival time: 9:25 pm
Actual arrival time: 9:38 pm
Seat: 5A

This flight is a continuation (for real this time) of a flight from San Diego, CA. I was the sixth person to board the aircraft - nice so i had a place for my rollaboard... i had another diet coke as my pre-departure beverage as the cheery and laughing flight attendants were chuckling about something i don't know what. Nevertheless its nice to see that they are having a good time at work; thats all you can ask for. We pushed back from our gate A5 on schedule and were fourth in line for takeoff. We took off toward Macon, GA before making the turn towards Dublin, GA and then into Savannah. Beverages were then served- but no snacks in first class- and i believe that coach only got dasani bottles. Flight was smooth initially before chopping up a bit; air-traffic control routed us around some thunderstorms so we made a turn or two before coming in from the south- i couldn't even tell which runway we used but it probably was the one over by the old SAV terminal. Since I'm moving during the weekend and will not be returning to savannah after that, I heard on the PA, for the last time  Smile/happy/getting dizzy "It is Delta's pleasure to welcome you to Savannah, the local time is 9:40 pm. Please remain in your seats with your seatbelts fastened until the captain has turned off the seat belt sign....blah blah blah....."

We pulled into the famous gate 5 and i told our friendly f/a's not to have too much fun down on the river (nice that they get a Thursday night layover in SAV- lots of bars are good on Thiursdays) and then I said good night to the Delta agent waiting for our flight; the same agent who has boarded my SAV-ATL flights many times (including last Thursday)... and I took a last look at Savannah Hilton Head International. Nice place, but I will never be back. Second airliners.net member to depart SAV recently after Captain777 (Adam) left for the northeast too late last year I believe....this may be SAV's last trip report for a while!

Well, I learned a lot by spending my last 9 months in Savannah, and as an aside; had I never moved here i might never have flown with Delta. Being from outside Detroit I am a NW faithful (and moving to CT I likely will fly more often with them from DL / KBDL), USA - Connecticut">BDL). But, since I moved to Savannah in September 2003 I have flown 37 flight segments (thats a lot for me).... and 29 of those flights have been with Delta or Delta Connection (25 mainline, 4 ComAir to be exact). Plus the majority of their Savannah based ground staff are the nicest people around. While I never will come back to Savannah, I will not think twice from here on out flying Delta.

Go Blue!!
