Ahh... The nice leg of this flight ....

Airline: HP
Flight: 250
Service: PHX-PHL
Aircraft: A320-200
Number: N622AW

I arrived at Sky Harbor ready for fun time as usuall at the airport. We already had boarding passes and we went straight to check in our bag and through security to T4 gate A29. My mom picked up some things from Paradise bakey while I had a good hour at my gat for some plane spotting. Almost all of the planes that I saw were HP. Here they are (if it is not HP I will say so). nOT ALL ARE CORRECT... I COULDN'T SEE A FEW AND HAD TO GUESS

N923FJ CRJ-???
BEECHCRAFT 1900 (appeared to be a private jet, however it had the green on its engines but was unmarked with HP. Could it still have been them?)
2 CRJ-200 (COULDN'T SEE NUMBER)
N98HA DASH 8
N371788 CRJ-200
N732?AV CRJ-200
N667AW- A319 OR 20
N174AW 737N665AW A320
N634AW A320
N929FJ CRJ-700
N327AW-737-300
N622AW OUR PLANE A320-200
N664AW A320

DELTA CONNECTION CRJ-200-N411SW

I happily boarded the aircraft only to find that it was an older one with terrible seats. We were in row 17 E,F. I had the window and my mom the middle. My seat went back 2 IN. and had the worst padding but I lived because I had good viewing of the T.V. I watched the corny safety video and stared out the window to see ALOHA, MIDWEST, UAL, DELTA, FRONTIER, NORTHWEST, SOUTHWEST and so forth. We had a sprightly take off and I awaited to check the service that every passenger received on board the aircraft. Well, as I watched the flight attendents come around with the first service of drinks... I service was warm and attentive but still not the greatest you could ask for especially when your butt is killing you. The movie was The Prince and Me and for some stupid reason I forgot headphones so I payed 5 bucks just to test out the quality of the entertainment. I must say that the movie was cheezey but sound quality and radio channels were excellent. I wathced the shorts as the F/A's came around and the announcement that we would have a 4 hour 25 min. flight (1 hour 30min.+ it took them to say that and it didn't really mean much now). I got a menu to test out what they would be serving and it did look preety ok except for the cheese burger. I got out my paradise bakery and had my sandwhich and cinnamon roll and when the second drink service came and the food, I ordered a Mrs. Fields milk choco. chip cookie for fun for $2 dollars. It was preety good but still a rip off. As soon as the third drink service came around the pilot thought it would be nice to tell us that there were T storms int he area and it would be bumpy (great time especially with the drinks) I drank mine as fast as possible and I soon as I had taken the last drop of the preety pathectice serving of soda that had been delievered by a flight attendent who sneezed in my moms face... we started bumping harder and harder and some overheads opened up and some stuff fell out and drinks spilled and some people through up and someone was still in the bathroom but was too scared to come out and the F/A. I could have swarn was ready to barge down that door when it stopped for a sec. and he went back to his seat terrified and as soon as I saw him sit down and the last of the luggage put back up... we hit some more and the final descent was called and we landed with me hitting my head on the sit in front of me and the same overheads opened up again and we landed and I couldn't wait to get off the plane. Terminal D was preety bad taking to thought that there were about 20 seats per gate I could get out of their.

Danced in the North American Irish Dancing Nationals and got 16th (my first time) out of 60 kids. Saw the sites and had no idea what was to come..

We arrived at the airport just two hours before departure and found that we had to go to Continental's desks to check in because HP couldn't find people to work for them in PHL. The Continental team at the line was friendly and supportive and even though I had a small hope that we would be flying them due to the fact that our Boarding Pass was a Continental one... My hopes were shattered when there was a differend HP A320 awaiting at gate D17. Well it started to drizzle around 6:30 WHEN OUR FLIGHT WAS SUPPOSED TO LEAVE but we were being delayed becaus the F/A's onboard were still CLEANING. And even though they were done at 6:35--- our Continental gate agent was too busy sweet talking when of the people who was driving those golf carts for the frail people. SHE ALONE DELAYED US UNTILL THE STORM HAD TURNED DANGEROUS and that we couldn't take off. Well, as other flight were leaving on time even though the storm was brewing still--she still held us up and easily went over the maximum late time of 45 min. before people would miss there connections.. one man would miss the birth of his child. When our flight attendent had finished her pack of gum she thought of a novel idea of maybe boarding us and when she did that wasn't the end. The seats were ok yes (just a bit more butt cushion would be nice) but buy the time we pushed back... the line was huge to take off so we waited in line for 1h 45min. with our demented captain telling us when we first got their it should just be 10-15 min. yeah sure-- sure my a*s! Well when our pilot came in with some "good news" that we were number 10 in line for take off we were all over-joyed (yeah over-joyed)- we all sarcastically clapped. When we did finally take off I read a good book and fell asleep untill drinks came along dreaming about what it would be like to be off that aircraft... when we landed we all mobbed to get off and I was so mad- I can't even remember last night very much taking to though that we were 3 hours late. We have all decided that we are going to switch to UA's FFP and get out of HP. I was also wondering who I should point the blame to- HP or Continental- you can answer in my post in the Poll and Prefs. section.

it isn't that hp cant find agents to work for them in phl, it is a co-op agreement between them and co from their old codeshare. hp operates a lot of co flights out west in stations where co only flies one or two flights a day, co does this in the east where hp only has limited flights. by sharing gate and counter space, they both save money in smaller stations. as for the co agents in phl, dump them all i say, i can't wait for hp to get their own agents in phl

I would probably point the blame at the weather..... really. It sounds like you're making a LOT of assumptions about things. Flight crew cleaning, delayed cuz of a gate agent flirting...

It doesn't help to get mad at the pilot...I"m sure if he could've taken off in 10-15 minutes, he would have. There's people that tell him where to go and when, THEY decide when the plane takes off. And I have to agree with what someone said in your post in the Polls section.... if the guy knew his wife was THAT close to giving birth, maybe he should have left earlier? Just a thought.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you're young. You're going to have A LOT of delayed flights in your life. Just take it in stride. Your flight crew wants to get home just as much as you do. You'll find that travelling is a lot more enjoyable when you let go of your unfounded anger.

This is not good for HP flight on their way to PHL and why you don't need something else with those airlines to PHL. If you want to take on US Airways or Delta.

This has to be the longest sentence I have ever read.  Big grin

SHE ALONE DELAYED US UNTILL THE STORM HAD TURNED DANGEROUS and that we couldn't take off.

Some rather serious allegations for someone who is just a pax. An airlines does not delay a flight just because the gate agents are busy picking there noses or checking out their nails. A decision to delay comes from either the airline or the pilots (in consultation with flight dispatch).

If you are avoiding HP simply for this reason of delay, then I suggest you'd better look deep within yourself. If the delay was due to weather, you cannot blame the airline for taking the safe option by keeping the plane on the ground a bit longer. Yes, other flights were taking off but the onus is still on the captain because the safety of the 100+ pax is HIS responsibility.

Remember what happened to AA 1420 that landed in Little Rock? The captain had the chance to cancell or delay the flight in Dallas. He even had the option to divert. But he chose to push the aircraft right into the storm cell to land the MD80. No need to remind you what happened after that. Do you want that to happen to you?

You are only 13-15, therefore, remember... don't assume. Things always happen for a reason.

I must admit that I was a bit heated when I typed that and yes some things that I said were a tad over the top, but still even though this was just one delay-- My family has been constantly experiencing bad things on HP so this isn't just the only reason to leave.

Really, It must have been a horrible trip. Have you found proper mental counseling yet?

Bad weather - too bad it happens. The overhead bins opened - oh my god! It never happens on 30 year old 747s in developing countries... Must have been a nightmare for you.

Lazy gate agent who HP didn't care to hire???

Most INTERNATIONAL airlines have outsourced their check-in. Heaven forbid HP from doing so. Have any idea of economics?? Hoped to fly CO?? QF checked me in for TG 992 BKKSYD - maybe I should have been afraid getting stuck on a QF aircraft.

Thai doesn't have their own check-in agents in BKK, their largest hub? I find that hard to believe. Nothing against you, I'm just surprised.

That was terrible. It was hard to read. The bad punctuation and spelling only made it worse. A lot of assumptions were made. I am having doubts about the authenticity of the report. I have never seen bins fly open on an airbus in over ten years as a FA (due to turbulence or any other reason.) Nor have I seen anyone hit thier head of the seat in front of them due to a bad landing.

Yeah, TG992 is AKL-SYD-BKK indeed. I had consumed a few too many glasses of duty free liquor last night, my apologies.  Big grin Ryan, thanks for the correction.

But seriously... If these HP flights were horror, I suggest u stay home next time instead of flying. Once u fly outside the United States, you will surely end up landing in very terrible conditions once in a while... I have been on a TG A300 at UTH, OX 757 at BKK and OX 747 at Phuket where every U.S. airport would have ordered a ground stop...

I have never seen Airbus O/H bins opening either... Old 747 with the small "old-style" downward-opening bins are a whole different story though... They never stay closed in bad conditions.

Hahaha.... but seriously, I have been on a MAS 737 when the turbulence was so bad that the bins popped open. But not before hearing the airframe creak and strain to the beatings outside. Passengers were screaming too... Not a nice scene to witness.

Agree with mostly everybody. If you think that was bad and would warrant "leaving" an airline for another (especially a failing one) than I suggest you really need to get a grip.

Great choice!  Big grin Thanks for choosing United! On a related note, it won't be UA mainline in/out of PHX: my understanding is that everything into PHX now on UA is on TED. Any miles earned flying TED can be redeemed on UA mainline, anywhere in the UA system.

I must agree with several of the replies.

PHL is absolutely horrid for traffic delays when the weather comes down. I was on a flight on HP to Vegas out of Philly on July 12th, and EVERYTHING was delayed. I also happened to have a friend was was flying Frontier to Denver that night. That flight was late, and diverted for more fuel. She, and all the rest of that flights passengers, had to wait almost 4 hours before her flight was able to board.

Now, as far as being late: you didn't say how many minutes to departure you arrived at the gate. Perhaps the flight was in late becuase of the weather, and they had just got everyone off the plane.

In summary, you can't blame your problems on the airline, when the weather and the FAA arethe controlling factors.
