After spending our last day of vacation on Condado Beach, we arrived at San Juan-Luis Munoz Marin International Airport around 2:30 to check in for our scheduled, 3:35 departure. Check In was fast and efficient. There was a line, but it moved quickly. The JetBlue check in desks are adjacent to United Airlines in Terminal B (?).
The computer randomly selected us for extra security inspection. We proceeded to the TSA area and x-ray. My bags were opened and searched but the staff were efficient, friendly, professional, and told me every step of the way, what they were doing. After about 10 minutes, we walked over to Gate 22, spend a little time at the Alliance Duty Free shop and watched activity at the gates around us. Across the tarmac, we watched an ATA Boeing 757-300 taxi to its gate, a Delta 767-200 in 1997 colors be loaded and then taxi out to the runway. Next to it was a US Airways 757-200 and on the other side of the pier, a US Airways A330. At the far end of our terminal sat an Iberia A340, which I think was a -600 because it seemed long, but it might very well have been a -300. It was filthy, with black stuff around the windows, streaking down and the tail marking was scratched.
Boarding was quick and efficient and at 3:30, the doors were closed. We pushed back right on schedule and headed to the runway, passing several American Airlines aircraft at their terminal, including 3 Boeing 757's, one Airbus A300-600, and several ATR-72's. We lined up behind the US Air A330 and our plane began its roll down the runway. Lift off was quick and quite powerful and within seconds, we were climbing, and at quite an angle.
There was no TV programming on this flight, not even the Fox Movies that we had on the way down. The cabin crew were extremely pleasant and very cheerful. Within 30 minutes of take off, the took our drink order and then came around with the snack basket. They made four rounds with the snacks, despite the plane being nearly completely full. We hit some turbulence near Bermuda and again about 25 minutes prior to landing at JFK.
Around 6:25pm, the DirectTV programming came on, but not all of the channels were vieweable. Descent into JFK began at 6:45 and after cruising over Brooklyn, we made a sharp turn and landed on the runway that its parallel to Terminals 6, 7, 8, and 9. We turned and I could see a couple of planes parked at Terminal 4, including the Air India 747-400, Kuwait Airways 777, and parked near Terminal 4 was the Emirates A340-500, a North American 767-300, and also parked at a gate was a KLM 777. We taxied into our gate. Our flight was over.
The service was impeccable and highly professional, and the crew were very friendly. The plane was spotless clean (this was not one of the newer A320's in the JetBlue fleet). I believe N535JB was delivered in 2001 or 2002.

Hope you enjoyed my home country of Puerto Rico, I was at SJU last Sunday catching my flight back to the states and I saw the Iberia flight come in and depart (my ATA flight got delayed by 2 1/2 hours) and it was an A340-300- so most prob you saw a 300 model. Then again the A340 looks impressive in San Juan, on a side note I was lucky to see the VS A340-300 opearting the charter flight from LHR- its a rare site in SJU. Dragon Lady operated the flight into San Juan last sunday.
