Hello!
Usually, my trip reports are very ( VERY ) long, but this time I want to shorten it a bit, but show lots of images.
I went to Nice, France, for holidays, and found a good price on Swiss Air Lines' website, 101 Euros for ZRH-GVA r/t only, and 69 Euros for GVA-NCE r/t on EasyJet. This is inclusive taxes and fees! Not expensive at all!
I arrived at Zurich 2 days before my flight, did lots of photography and also visited my aunt.
On the 27th of July, I went to ZRHs best early morning spot for the first time. The parking garage number 3!
Here are a few impressions of that day:
Weather in Geneva was very hot, about 34°C! I spent a few hrs on the viewing terrace on the top of the terminal.
Second Leg:
Routing: Geneva GVA - Nice NCE
Flt. Num: EZS 929
T. ( Scheduled / Actual ) 20.25 / 20.26
Arr. T. ( Scheduled / Actual ) 21.25 / 21.20
Aircraft / Reg Num.: Airbus A319-111 / HB-JZC
Seat Num.: 15F
That flight was very full, 118 passengers onboard!
We took off during a very nice sunset, with an amazing view of the airport, Lake Geneva and Mt. Blanc - All visible on that image:
The descend into Nice is amazing, no matter if during night or day, a 270° turn above the sea with a final approach low above the water.
Here are some impressions:
Downwind:
Airport in sight ( we landed on 04L )
After we left the active: ( these shots were taken at ISO 1600, with shutter speed 1/50 or lower, it actually was night! )
Terminal 1 with Transavia 73G, Austrian Arrows CRJ and Vbird 320 visible:
Flightdeck shot of our Airbus:
I spent 1 very nice week with my family, we had lots of fun.
2 days got dedicated for spotting, 1 day at Nice Airport, and another at the Monte Carlo Heliport. Here are 2 images:

Hello,
Very nice trip report. I also Flew the Geneva-Nice route this summer. All flights on time and full.
It is strange that there were not many people on board on the ZRH-GVA-ZRH. I flew this route about 10 times and it was always full. One time, the plane was an Airbus A310 and one other time an Airbus A330!!!

I'm glad you like my image

I was wondering about so few passengers too, they have several daily flights with A321s, A320s....
Avros would do the job, too.
BTW: Should have been some years back when you flew on an A310 heh
cheers,

Hi
Nice trip report. Very cool pictures!
Seems like LX is losing pax in GVA to other airlines (no big surprise to be honest). The latest reports on marketshares show it too, with decreasing numbers in ZRH, GVA and BSL...
Once again, nice trip report!

Hey Florian!
Nice trip report here! Very cool photos. That makes a report much more enjoyable. I hope you had a great time on the "Promenade des Anglais" in Nice. Wish I could come back there anytime soon.
As for Zurich, what advises/tips would you give to another photographer (let's say myself , comin' in September 30th hehe) for spotting on a short period? What did you plan to get the best of your stay in Zurich?

Spotting is not that great anymore since the Terminal B ( with the terrace on the roof ) does not get any traffic anymore.
The best thing would be the early morning, between 6 and 9am, from the parking garage number 3. Look at the very first images of this report, they are from the parking deck!
Otherwise, the heliport is highly recommendable, you would need a car to get there, though.
cheers,
Florian

Florian,
Thank you very much for the information. For sure I wanna get those early morning shots from the parking garage. That's a must! Btw, great pictures you got from up there!
As for the Heliport, our hotel is quite near this location (Park Inn). So hopefully we won't have to pay for a car rental.

Excellent pics of GVA. I lived for 5 years close to that airport, and I appreciate every photographic opportunity to see it again.
At my time easyJet was not flying there yet, and Swissair was the dominant carrier. Since then there has been a lot of change at GVA. SWISS is more and more moving away, and easyJet dominates the airport. Pity!
