Okay, me and my travelling buddie Dan Valentine decided to make a break for LAX for the weekend to meet up with two of our friends.
This was my first time to LAX and I was quite excited because I had always wanted to go but didnt ever get round to it.
Anyhow, I managed to finish work at lunch time and make a break for heathrow. Unfortunatly I hit traffic on the M25 and became slightly delayed... ALL i needed. However I still managed to get off the coach and meet up with Dan at the queens building. We walked round to T3 and thought that we had missed the flight for check in. However we hadnt and we got to the desk to be told to wait while we found out if we were on the flight or not.
After about 10 or 15 minutes, the lady behind the desk produced our PURPLE boarding cards. I instantly knew that this meant Upper Class... Shame it was on an A343 but I wasnt really complaining at this point.
We ran through T3 to get to our gate on time... We made it, JUST and got in our seats. I called a few people stuck back at work just to rub it in that I had UC. :P
We taxied out to the holding point for runway 27L and waited for about 5 minutes. I was playing with the seat controls at this moment in time... LoL. All of a sudden, we were on the runway and my seat was flat out in a bed. How embaressing lol
I tried to get it up in time but for once, this A343 was reasonably powerful. Still took us all the way down past the cargo centre before we rotated and it was a slow climb but boy were we shifting... hehe
So here I was, sat in Upper Class. Surrounded by a load of rich panzies. I thought that some alchomohol was in order so I went and sat at the bar, it was at that moment that I realised that I was sat next to someone reasonably famous...
Mr Lee Ryan from Blue. He had just paid £4500 for an upgrade from Premium Economy. I felt quite surreal to be sat at a bar, sipping champagne with a multi-millionaire.
we just generally talked about whatever, i asked him about what he was doing and that and he told me about being a pop star. I hate the band blue, but I suppose i had to be as nice as pie to this geeza as he was sat next to me hehe... In the end we pestered the hosties a little too much for booze, so they showed us where everything was and said "Help Yourself" so we did...
I went back to my seat and had some food. Its on demand in UC, you just ask for it when you want it. I had a jacket potato with strips of beef in a creamy and spicy sauce. It was LUSH!!! hehe...Then had Macadamia nut icecream and sunk into a film.
I fell asleep and slept for about 3 or 4 hours. Its really easy to sleep in the J2000 seats as they are so comfortable and you never worry about not having enough room
I woke about 2 hours before landing and ate a scone with butter cream and jam. That was the best food I had EVER eaten on an airplane, so I had another two
Necking another vodka, we started our descent and arrival in LAX. It was quite a bumpy approach as we broke through the clouds. However after that it smoothed out. We heard the honourary gear release noise, where you hear a massive **THUD** and then loads of rushing air. Arriving on runway 24L, we landed and taxxied to the gate. We were like the 3rd or 4th group of people of the aircraft and straight through security no problems...
I met up with clovis and then made our way to the parking garage to wait for chrisK who was driving from LAS.
