And so the best event of my life begins, we leave our temporary home in Phoenix for Sky Harbour, I couldn't wait to see the beautiful and almighty Falcon, an aircraft I've always wanted to fly on.

I got to the hangars at PHX around 8'ish, ready to help the Flight crew start her up, the weather looked pretty strange, especially for Arizona, USA, massive rain clouds were headed towards SanDiego, to sweep up the south of the country towards Phoenix, and the rest of Arizona.
I climbed up the steps and headed into the Cockpit, there the co-pilot, Andy, was carrying out pre-flight checks and starting the APU. All I needed to do was sit back and relax until our departure time of 09:20.

Around 09:15 our pax arrived, the owner of this jet, belonging to Pacific Connections Inc. We shook hands and generally greeted each other.
Before I knew it, we were bringing up the doors, and taxiing towards Rwy 8. We stopped being a Beechcraft Horizon (I think, strange lil' thing  Big thumbs up) . One thing I love about jumpseats is the amount of seatbelts needed to strap yourself in! (for those of you who don't know, there is one that comes up between your legs, round your waist, and over your shoulders). We entered the runway and waited for take off clearance. We finally got it, and without any problems, and an extremely hort take off roll, Andy called out "V1, VR, rotate" I was amazed at how short the take off roll was, I've never been on such an aircraft like it.we cruised upto 6000 and made a right turn to the southwest, encountering a lot of traffic along the way, mainly Southwest 737's. There was a lot of "Continuous Chop" which got rather annoying after a while! We continued to ascend to FL240, then to FL320 which was quite a lot, considering the flight time. We were cruising through thick cloud most of the flight, making a sharp bank right in the middle of it, which made me almost pass out, I was just really disorientated, we were banking hard, but we felt level.
Now some pilots out there will know that Carlsbad isn't an easy airport to land at, its slightly elevated, and has a very curved runway, and the whole length is only about 5000ft (please correct me if im wrong). We descended down through the clouds, and out so we could see the ground properly, before we were even on base leg, the undercarriage was out, and the flaps were set, which I found weird. The autopilot was turned off, a couple of master warning flashes, and we were flying on our own. We made a sharp left turn, then left again, too early. The captain lost sight of the runway, we were just using VFR. The ATC controller made a rather funny remark (IMHO) " Falcon 220, do you actually have visual with the airport?!" By this time, Randall (captain) was frantically looking around, we eventually found it, and made a very awkward landing, swaying all over the place. We taxied, and parked in the JetSource area. Where I got some pics...

Other regs spotted: N983J, N39EL.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, I will add some more ASAP, we have dial up at the moment, and it takes ages for them to upload! Pissed

We hired a car, had some breakfast, randomly drove around to kill time, and arrived back. We jumped back on the aircraft, and fired up her APU, (I got to turn the avionics, APU, etc on!)
Our pax arrived, hopped on, and we were soon on our way again.

Like I said, I have many pictures of this part, but I cant put them on, sorry  Sad

There are so many flippin Beechcraft king airs at CRQ!!

By the time we were ready for departure, I could see the massive curve in the runway, This time, it was a full power departure, and we used 4,800Ft of the runway.

Take off and climb were pretty normal, flying once again to 4000, then 24000, then 32000. Same chop as before, just a bit more is a couple of places. We hit a massive rain shower in the clouds, it was like millions of needles being attracted to the window, and hitting with massive force.

We began to descend, putting our power to idle, we were then told we could fly at our desired speed, (YAY!!) Randall said "Lets go a little faster shall we?!" He pushed the throttles to full power, now this was the mose exhilarating but, I was pushed injto the back of my seat, the wine of the engines, and the speed rising, I wouldn't swap this moment for anything!

We made decent, came in and landed, loads of bug splats on the window!

We made a pretty rough taxi back to the hangar, and that ended the best event of my life.

I will never forget what happened that day, I cannot thank Randall and Andy enough for inviting me along with them for this flight, Thanks guys  Big thumbs up

I really hope you enjoyed my trip report, and I welcome comments very much, sorry if its a bit long!

The Dassault Falcon 2000 is an amazing aircraft, and I long to fly on it again  Love

Cheers

Tom
