We Are Going To Ayia Napa 2000

It is an early morning in the middle of June 2000. 6 tired 18-20 year old boys and girls ( 4 boys, 2 girls) are creeping out of a mass of bottles of wine, whiskey and beer. We have been the only "survivors" of last nights party. The party to say good bye to the Zillertal for...a week. In 8 hours we are going to fly to Cyprus-but not for sightseeing- we will go to Ayia Napa - the better Ibiza 2000. We all are terribly tired but we have to catch the train to Munich after a breakfast consisting of rotten pop-corn and and some beer in the bottom of this 100 litre "thing".

In the train we manage easily to sleep until it becomes time to show our rail-passes. We only have some advertisment with us-looking like a real pass-consisting of a rail and fly arrangement. But it is not valid-the controller only says: "I've never seen that before but I dont want to do anything wrong with this expensive ticket, you may travel." So we travel for free about 250 kilometres-notice that this is the only cheap experience if you travel to Cyprus!

Munich airport is a great place(more later...). We 4 boys now are ready for a last German beer before we have to go to our gate. I take the passport of Florian, a friend who looks totally different to me, and have no problems with the passport control.....busy people??.
Then we are imprisoned for about 10 minutes in this narrow thing which connects the airport with the plane. But with a radio it was quite funny-even other people dont think equal. As the only youth on that plane-a Hapag Lloyd Boeing 737-800-it isnt difficult to attract some older ones attention. But we, of course dont behave annoying! Maybe the flight-attandents think so because we are so hungry this afternoon. Thanks to Hapag Lloyd to give everybody who wants 2 meals and as much to drink as you want.(no alcoholic drinks! - somebody has to say that beer has to be free again!)

I am a flight-enthusiast and so I have to tell some things about the plane. As I said before, it was a 737-800 and you can feel that the plane is brand-new. Don't be shy and visit this cockpit-you wont think thats a 737's. It isnt recogniseable that the cabin isnt as broad as that of the A320 because the mock-up(similar to 777's) is well done. D-AHFF/D-AHFI are great planes!

The only thing I want to say about Ayia Napa is:
"GO THERE!"......but travel with Cyprus Airways-the beer is free there...

Before departing Larnaka, we play frisby in the airport-but the police dont seem to like this and send us outside. There Florian gets hurt, and with an extra bus, with some delay, he reaches the plane with a huge, bleeding wound at his knee. I wont forget this scene as he enteres the plane last, because there has been something wrong with his boarding pass, bleeding and holding the frisby under his arms. There is no seat order to Paphos and he has to sit next to an old, very old woman. He tells her about an accident with a pelikan and she finally calls the steward for help.

Then we spend the night at Munich Airport, but the Burger King has already closed. But with a wastepaper-busket we manage out to become some food at the drive-inn. I will never forget this night under the construction of the huge Munich Airport Center...

Arriving Mayrhofen next day we stayed there over night to make a final party.

A great trip finds his end as it has started: between whiskey, wine and beer, but with some remembers of a great flight and a beautiful holiday-destination.
