today I well post a day-trip report what I did last Sunday (24.04.2005) from Frankfurt (FRA) to GranCanaria (LPA)
FRA-LPA with DE-7982 and LPA-FRA DE-7983.
5 weeks ago a bought the tickets for 58€ return per person in the internet on the condor homepage. Not bad for a 4:30 hours flight.
At nearly 12:30 am we decide to make the way to the Frankfurt airport with my car. We took our bags and we started to the airport in a rainy night. Our home is 10 km to the terminal 1 of the Frankfurt airport, so this was not a big act.
We parked in the public parking garage at the airport terminal 1, for this short trip the costs where not to high, like 25€.
After the parking we searched the Condor Check-In area witch was located in the "B" part of the terminal 1.
The line was not very long at the Check-In but at 1:00 am in the morning the only airline check-in what was opened and also the service was quick as 6 counters where open.
We received the boarding passes with the seats 34E and 34F, just behind the wings of the long baby the B757-300.
We decided to go to drink a refreshment to the IrishPup at the Frankfurt Airport because it was some minutes past 01:00 am and the boarding was announced for 02:35.
With the great Weißbier the time passed very quickly. Just one hour after arriving at the bar it was time to leave the Irish community and make the way to the A part of the terminal where the gate was located where our Condor B757-300 was waiting for us. The exact gate was A13, perfect because gate A40 for example, can be in Frankfurt a very long march.
We passed the security line in just 2 minutes, the reason was again the time of day, beside our flight there where just 2 Condor flights what departed nearly the same time, one to another CanaryIsland Lanzarote, and the other to the germans favorite island Mallorca.
We arrived the gate and our beauty was waiting for us in a rainy night.
The gate area was full, mostly older people and some families with young children ready for there vacation. After some minutes the gate crew announced the boarding procedure with beginning the boarding from the last rows. After a quick boarding the plane was packed. The flight was almost fully booked. After all handbaggage were stored the FA´s did the normal announcements. The security procedure was given via the overhead televisions located every 4 rows.
Changing to other depatures in Frankfurt this time due lack of flights at 03:00 am in the morning the airplane rolled quick to the runway and with a powerful rolling-takeoff begun the airplane to move. The flight was heavy loaded so we needed a big part of the runway but after takeoff the airplane was drilling into the sky.
The captain was speaking and informed us about some details of the flight. The estimated flight time was 4:20 hours.
The flight route was from Frankfurt to Luxembourg, than to Paris, southbound Madrid, finally arriving the coast nearly Cadiz and going on southbound along the Maroccan coast direct to the CanaryIslands.
Over Paris the FA´s begun with the service. It was a hot breakfast, a herbpancake filled with cheese and gammon turkey, some roasted potatoes, and mashed-potatoes. Also a small roll and a slice of bread was served. Some butter a slice of Salami and cheese and a small cup of yogurt was also on the table. The quality of the food was very good just too small for a 4 and half hour flight.
After the breakfast I decided to sleep a little bit because of the long long day what was waiting us. In dreams the flight goes very quickly and I woke up 30 minutes before arriving LPA. We passed all the Island and for the final approach we did a turn and passed again all the island from the south and landed finally at the LPA airport, who is located in the middle-east of the island. We where one of the first flight who did arrived this Sunday morning. The first flights departed the airport, some intra CanaryIsland hopper (Binter).
After desembarcation we decide to check-in for the evening flight back to FRA. 3 Condor check-in desks where open and after 10 minutes we could check-in and received our boarding passes for the flight. This time 18A and 18B.
We took the coach for the quick trip to LasPalmas, the capital of GranCanaria. It cost for both 4 Euros.
After a great day in LasPalams it was time to go again to the airport. Boarding time for the flight to Frankfurt was 06:35 pm
We decide to take the bus again, because the connection from LasPalmas to the airport by bus was great, fast and not expensive.
We arrived 05:30 pm at the airport so there was some time to have a small dinner (sandwiches) at the airport. They were expensive compared to the other costs at the Island, each sandwich 5€.
We went through the security (very unfriendly guys) and made our way directly to the DutyFree shops, they are still allowed also for EU bound flights because the Canarys are not member in the European DutyUnion....
I invest my money in two bottles of the famous Dominican Rum Brugal, this Rum is very expensive and very hard to find in Germany. Also I bought some Spanish turron and a package of GranCanarian bananas.
This time our gate was A29, we arrived there and our B753 was allready at the gate.
heavy operations around them, loading, cleaning, catering. etc etc. etc.
20 minutes after the boarding was announced. This time without any speical procedure.
Also this flight was very full booked. Left out of my window just arrived an Iberia A340 from Madrid full with people.
Doors where closed and the push-back beguns. The way to the runway was very quick and after an Binter flight what departed and one arriving TUI flight we received the ok for the takeoff. A powerful takeoff was done and the very beautifully Island was under us.
We passed the CanaryIsland Lanzerote and the service beguns with a refreshment drink, I ordered a FantaOrange...
Now it was time for the dinner. Condor offered a selection of pasta with spinach or chicken with rice and vegetables. I took the pasta and my wife the chicken.
the quality of both entrees were very good, just the salad was not really fresh and good tasting.
After the small dinner I decide to make some photos of the great sky.
The sun was going done and some 20 minutes after that we arrived Europe and passed over Faro the coast. The flight continues to the north and passed Valladolid, Bayonne in France, and after a small sleep finally arriving german airspace.
The final approach was passing Offenbach and the Frankfurt Skyline from the east. Without any problems we touchdown at Frankfurt Airport of one of the last flights/first flights this day at 12:30 am.
As we didn´t checked-in any luggage the way to the parking lot was very quick and after the 10km way to my home I was very happy to be at home after this long great day with my wife.
A great long day for just 200€ including 2 tickets for medium-houl flights, food, parking lot, 2 bottles of rum. etc etc. etc.

Nice report and great pictures, Avianca!
I´ve also tried to book those cheap tickets on Condor´s website but whenever I have the time for making a short trip to the sunnier regions, the good fares aren´t available anymore
Do you know if there is a possibility to find out what aircraft DE uses on certain flignts? I didn´t find anything on their website but if I book a flight like yours, I would like to make sure that the equipment is a 753 (which I´m still missing in my "collection").

normally I recheck the flights on websites like Opodo.de.
You can put in the flight data and search for flights, than normally the DE flights will show up with information for the flight (hours, aircraft type etc etc)

Very nice to read another German contribution to this forum. Seems like you guys in the FRA area have better luck regarding daytrips when it comes to the famous Condor Fliegenpreise. Here in NRW, it is very hard to find suitable day returns for 58 Euros.
Thankfully, Condor has not done away with full meals on their longer flights - but then again, spending four and a half hour with just a small yoghurt and a "flour brick" (the infamous dry baguettes Condor throws at their pasengers on flights to the Iberian peninsula) would be really too much to ask.
BTW, regarding the question, which equipment is used on the various Condor flights, I usually log on to http://www.amadeus.net .
