San Diego - Los Cabos
March 24. Dep- 11:20 Arrival-14:30
We don't live in San Diego but we decided to fly out of SAN because it was cheaper and it was a non-stop flight. We woke up around 8am in a motel that was literally 100 yds from runway 27; we didn't even use the alarm cause the landing planes woke us up. We left the motel in less then an hour after waking up and headed for the supposed busy spring break season at SAN. We arrived at the counter and there wasn't more then 20 people waiting in line. We were very surprised, security was the same way too. The SA)">HP employee advised us to go early because there will be a lot of travelers but there wasn't that many at all.
We were ready to go more then 1.5 hours before our departure time. Fortunately SAN was a very nice airport to spend some time in. San felt like it was an art museum because it is beautifully constructed, its a breath of fresh air compared to LAX. There were many food and magazine stores and they even had a mini museum about Charles Lindberg's first flight accross the atlantic.
When we settled in the waiting are at HPs gate 33, there was what seemed like a brand new SA)">HP a320 that was using that gate before our flight. That flight to Phoenix left and about 30 minutes later our CRJ900 which was flying from Vancouver taxied to our gate and it looked beautiful.
The new crew that served our flight looked like a senior crew because all, inclueding our Female Captain looked to be more then 40. We quickly took our seats and in less then 15 minutes we were lined up for take-off. I sat in row 2 on the left side and engine noise was VERY minimal, all I could hear was the wind noise. After our left turn over the ocean we flew straight down BaJa and exactly 2 hours later we were in Los Cabos.
I loved the In-Fight magazine kept me occupied with interesting articles. Service of the F/As was great because there was humor and it was efficient service. They served us Drinks and there were crackers on request. I really loved the MESA service and I think that they are a very safe and serious airline. I would really recomend them on long RJ flights. The pilots were VERY quiet and they didn't even tell us how long we would be flying, not that it mattered because I loved flying in row 2 of the CRJ900 anyways and didn't want it to stop. They did come on at the end to wish us good bye though.
I am a member with United but lately we have been flying America West and have really enjoyed what they offer, new planes, good service and they are partners with one of the best Regional Airlines which flys the CRJ900.

I stayed in a hotel that was inland, but we spent most of our time at Pueblo Bonito in Downtown. They had the best beach spot. The food was what I enjoyed most at Los Cabos, it wasn't even comparable to food even in the most expensive restaurants in the states. And the service was great, comperable to service you get in europe and asia. There was an obvious economic immbalance that I noticed at los cabos because they charged with U.S prices yet the Infrastructure of the city was very poor and many poor people around. Where does all that money go?
