It came time for my annual trip to Phoenix to see some family. I usually go alone, and this time my cousin Michele was coming along with me. My mom drove both of us to Chicago Midway Airport, I was very happy for that, because parking at the airport is very expensive. My mom dropped us off curbside at about 6:00am. We went inside the terminal and got in the line for Rapid Check In kiosk. It took a good 45 minutes to get through the line, because the Southwest lines were very, very long. After checking our two bags and getting our A boarding passes, we waited about 30 more minutes and then made it through the security checkpoint with no issues. I bought and orange juice and then listened to my iPod at Gate A2 as our plane pulled up. I asked the gate agent if the flight would be full and she said it would be. They called the A group and I let a larger family go ahead of me and then proceded down the jetway to the plane where I was greeted by a very happy flight attendant who asked me if I needed any help. I took my seat in 15A. We loaded and the safety demonstration was given and we pushed back and took off three minutes later.
It was a very smooth flight. The flight attendants gave out snack boxes that contained oreos, cheese crackers, and graham crackers. I had a coffee with it and then during their second service I had a cup of still water with ice. I tabbed through SkyMall and Spirit Magazine, but mostly listened to music and looked out the window.
We started flying over the west, over the mountains and such, and some weird marks appered onto my window, which explains the weird pictures.
Then the marks went away for the rest of the flight...
We landed early and taxied to gate D4. It was very nice. Baggage came out fast and my aunt met me on the North Curbside.
I drove up to the Grand Canyon. It was beautiful. On the way up the mountains, the car was making terrible noises and the tachometer was pointing to the number 5, which was in the red zone! But we did make it okay. We stayed at the Red Feather Lodge in Tusayan. It was a nice hotel for the night. The hot tub felt really good that night after a long day of hiking and driving. We spent one night at the Pointe South Mountain Resort in Phoenix, it had an amazing water park with awesome slides, some were like freefalling! It was awesome!! The rooms were all suites. They had super comfortable beds! (I love that smilie)
Sadly, it was time to come home. My aunt dropped us off at the curbside again. The lines were very long, but the staff was very efficent and we got through in 15 minutes. We went up to security checkpoint, which there were like 10 people. I made my way to gate C4 for the Chicago flight.
Phoenix has a very nice airport. It was soon time to board.
We took off on time and had a very bumpy flight. The crew was telling a lot of jokes and having fun with the passengers. They were even playing with a beachball and the passengers were very happy.
We landed at Midway early. I got my baggage and my dad picked me up on the curb. Like usual, I enjoyed my Southwest flights. They provide a great product.
I have a video of taking off from Phoenix. I can send it via AIM. My screenname is patrickMDW. Please leave a comment if you want to see it and need it another way.
