737-700 Old Livery w/ winglets
Departure 9:25 AM
I started out the day heading for PHX to dance in the North American Irish Dance Nationals in Nashville to be held at the Gaylord Opryland. Traffic was not bad at the airport, and I had already checked in that morning for the 9:25 AM flight at 4:00 at got myself and my mother in A, but my grandmother was in B, but that could be change when we just boarded because she was part of our party. We had all carry on luggage and quickly bypassed check-in and went straight to security. Our Gate was in the D concourse, so we wented to D Security and hit a short line, or so with thought. We had the absolute SLOWEST TSA agents I have ever met, it took 15 minutes for us to move up one party! We finally made it through security and made our way to the concourse where we sat down at our busy gate where another flight was getting ready to board. Southwest needs to hurry up the assigned seats thing. I don't like having the unorganized "groups" lining up hours before boarding. We found a seat, and I made my way to the end of the concourse and started to snap some pics of aircraft taking off on runway 27 (L or R, I cannot remember). Here are some of the pics
Parked at a gate, I couldn't get a picture of our aircraft, but it was just like this one. Old livery with winglets.
Dash 8 taxing for takeoff with HP
Southwest 737 just after rotate
Just as I turned away, getting nervous about taking picture because of my close procimity to patrolling security. I see the FedEx DC-10 make a GORGEOUS rotate extremly early on the runway (the 737's and CRJ's went much farther). I quickly grabbed my camera, and just caught it, not very well though as it climbed, here it is.
DC-10 Climbing of FedEx
I turned off my camera, and walked away because I got worried about security. I went to the Wendy's in the new concourse and got myself a frosty and sat down for a while. I then decided to take a quick shot of the concourse bcause it was really nicely done by WN. This was my first experience with them, and I liked the way they did their concourse.
I then went back to spotting other aircraft. Most were just WN, but I caught some pics.
737 taxiing. Gosh! WN 737 taxi REALLY fast, I never taxi that fast on HP! They really have tight turnarounds
Man catering the 737
Eventually boarding was called and we made our way to the buidling A line. After pre-boarding, we were herded onboard (they need assigned seating...). I took my seat right on the engine to get some good pics . The whole plane was boared in 15 minutes which I think was impressive, and we began taxi. I got some nice shots during this time.
Legroom was quite nice and so were the seats. Very comfortable. I like the leather!
View out my window of the gorgeous winglets.
I was lucky to get the HP 757 named Ohio in special livery
This AA MD-80 was obviously having engine issues or something like that
This Delta 767 is 1 of only 2 widebodies to fly into PHX. The other being the BA 747. The 767 was probably going to ATL.
We rolled onto the runway, and immediatly began to takeoff with a very powerful lurch. I loved the takeoff!
Climbing out of PHX
As soon as 10,000 feet was announced. The cabin crew was "realeased". They came around with the snack boxes first, followed by the one and only drink service that was publicly announced. Here is picture of the snack box.
This box consisted of Oreo's, Fat Free Cheese Nips, and Honey Maid Graham Crackers. I just ate the Oreo's and ordered a Coke for my drink. It was served to me with no acknowledgment of my existance, and was a very small serving. This picture doesn't accurately describe how small it was!
I had pulled out my DVD player and was starting to watch Farenheit 9/11. Here is a picture, though messed up because it was paused.
George Bush on farm
I couldn't understand what I crusing altitude was once it was announced, or the flight time but it was 3?,??? ft. and 3 and ? hrs. It ended up to be about 3 and 1/2 hours. I took the picture, a little out of PHX.
I settled into my movie, and wrang the F/A button to get a tired flight attendent to see what I needed. I asked for a coke and brought it shortly thereafter and didn't smile or even look at me, and gave it to my mom who was in the aisle.
Think cloud cover formed below and I snapped some shots.
Beautiful clouds below
Thick cloud cover
I went to the bathroom after trash was collect soon after. The bathroom was quite small, and I didn't like it very much. the lav's on HP A320's are much larger, but it's just a lav. so what can you do that's so important. I finsihed my movie and filled out my review chart which will be posted at the bottom. As soon as I filled out the last thing, descent was announced and I snapped this shot somewhere over the area around Nashville. I think the Pilot said 93 miles away. It looks almost like approach into LHR. Rolling green fields.
Nice scenery below
Quite quickly after descending through some bumpy clouds, final approach was announced and I got ready for landing. (I.E) hiding my electronic device from the F/A's who were passing through the cabin.
A bit of a harsh landing, I think we came in a bit fast, and reversers were deployed. I got a nice shot of it as I was jiggling all around my seat.
Spoilers came up thereafter, and I got a nice picture of them too. We seamed to take a long time to slow down. More than usual.
We got to an empty airport. I was quite surprised how little planes there are at Nashville. More than half the gates are empty. I let everybody get off and took a picture of the nice cabin, and said goodbye to a great flight. I was planning to get a pic of the A/C, but there were no windows so I couldn't.
Overall, after my first experience on WN, it was OK, nothing spectacular, but nothing that I didn't expect. Here is my breakdown of the flight.
Very efficient online. But my grandmother was in B instead of A! But we got that changed
Boarding Porcess 0/5
I didn't care for the groups who line up 2 hours before boarding
Nothing of course
Only 1 drink service, 1 other optional. Rushed, and was inadequate for the flight.
Seat Comfort 10/10
Cleanliness of A/C 10/10
Departure/Arrival ON TIME 15/20
A little late because of busy taxi ways at PHX
Extra Credit +0/5
Okay flight. Service not stellar, but adequate for an LCC. I would have liked to have seen the F/A's a bit more. But I did like their joke at the end. "We ask you to take caution when opening the over head bins, as the bags to tend to shift during flight, and let's face it, shift happns!"
74/100 - 74%
Not bad on my hard judging .
Note: this is my first photo trip report, and all comments are welcomed.

Great trip report.
I'm sorry the service didn't seem friendly and rushed. On a long flight that seems surprising that it wasn't more friendly. I must admit at times our service can be rushed i.e. a full LAX-LAS flight serving everyone in 20 minutes. But even then, we still try to smile at our customers!
As far as being offered a glass instead of a can, I agree for some people it seems like very little. I know personally I can easily down a can. We do it that way because offering cans produces a lot of waste and Southwest always tries to keep costs low. However if you ask for a can when you order your drink, we will gladly give it to you. Also another and another if that what you want. Because we serve off trays, it is easier for us to come back to your seat to offer you more. At least that is what is supposed to happen! lol
I got to agree with you about the lavs. They are small. Our newer aircrafts are a little better. The A320 does have a bigger lav but that A/C is larger and less claustrophobic than our 737's.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed your time in Nashville. It is a beautiful city.

Well, if you read about the flight back you will find out that I loved the service and the flight on the way back. I really was quite impressed by the flight back, the service exceeding most legacy carriers which showed me why people come back to WN time and time again. Thank you for your comments.
