DL 767-400 First Class Seating

Delta
Flight 269 ATL -> LAX B767-400
Flight 1579 LAX -> HNL B767-400

We were really psyched about flying Delta first class on their new 767-400 to HNL. I admit that no matter what, first is probably better than coach on such a long flight, but either way, we were really disappointed.

The seating configuration on the Delta 764 is different than the rest of their fleet in 1st. They are only offering domestic service so they don't have International Business Class seating installed.

The seats were much smaller and less comfortable than the 1st on the 757 or MD-88! It was difficult to sleep and impossible to get by the person on the aisle without having them move.

We were not impressed. We even tried to change our return flight to the trusty old L-1011.

This is why DL is having thie 764s, 777s, and I believe a number of 763s interiors redone.

Actually, I believe that the interior reconfiguration is limited to coach, which is, believe it or not, even worse than first. I have not yet been in coach on the -400, but I've heard bad things from employees and passengers alike. I have been in First on the -400 once or twice, and it was pretty much as Ghymes described it, and pretty much the same as on Delta's other 767s (except for the internationally configured ER's, which feature BizElite). Though even BizElite uses the narrow 6-abreast seating, the pitch makes them a lot nicer.
