San Diego To Green Bay And Back On United

Just wanted to write about my recent trip from sunny San Diego back to Green Bay to visit family for the weekend. Left on on an early flight out of San Diego on an Airbus 320. Never have flown on this type of aircraft much less an Airbus for that matter. I was quite impressed. It was comfortable and very modern. Didnt touch my breakfast as it didnt look edible. Last time i flew home this flight was on a 757, not sure for the switch but it was nice to fly on a different type of aircraft. Flight was very smooth except for some slight choppiness over the rockies. Couple of interesting things to note, about an hour from ORD i just happened to glance out the window to see a FEDEX DC-10 speeding a few thousand feet below us. Quite an amazing sight, it was cloudy so you could really see how fast it was moving. Arrived in ORD right on time. Flight from ORD to Green Bay was delayed as usual but nothing major. This flight was serviced by an Air Wisconsin Canadair regional jet. This is my favorite RJ to fly on. Flight was about 20 minutes and very smooth. My flight back from GRB to ORD was again an Canadair RJ. Very smooth and comforable plane. I avoid flying on turboprops at all cost now that most airlines are using regional jets. Arrived in ORD on time. One interesting thing is when taxiing after landing we went past the international terminal, an Air France Airbus A340 was surrounded by fire engines and emergency equipment. Not sure what was the problem. My flight from ORD back to San Diego was on an Airbus A319. Flight was delayed 45 minutes because some orange county luggage was inadvertantly placed on our plane. Prior to departure the captain announced that he would broadcast the ATC 'action' on channel 9. First time i have had the opportunity to listen in. Not sure if you have to request this otherwise. It was interesting listening along the way as pilots called to get reports on turbulence etc. I would also know exactly when we would change heading etc. Even thought the flight was late we had a rare tailwind heading west and arrived 15 minutes early. All in all I very much like the Airbuses and will continue to fly with my favorite airline United. And I am still crossing my fingers that they will sometime start flying a 767 into San Diego.
