Hi guys!

On the 12th of July my girlfriend and I went on holiday to Mallorca from Manchester. Going on MYT295 (Boeing 757-200 G-RJGR) and coming back on MYT296 (same A/C).

On the way there we left at 0605 and arrived on time exactly two hours later. The flight was great, and the service was super as was the food. We were sat in row 31 which is an exit aisle.

Returning from PMI we left slightly delayed after waiting a take off slot, sat in the plane were people who started moaning  . Flight back was slightly bumpy but nothing I've never experienced before. Same great service on the way back.

At Manchester, the baggage was slow to come onto the belt, unlike at PMI.

All-in-all a great flight!

Pictures can be seen on my webpage WoadyWeb click on Palma De Mallorca on the menu. Theyre not brilliant as they were taken through a smeared window (PMI cleaners on strike!).

Very short report, and the link to the webpage doesn't work either.

The link works now, for some reason it had put in extra "'s. Anyway, heres another go!

As previously mentioned on the 12th of July, I flew to PMI on the 0605 MYT295.

We arrived at the airport at around 3am, I guessed it would be better to arrive a bit earlier for checkin so we could get some decent seats. Check-in at MAN was great, there were very few people checking in at that particular moment, but the queue did build up behind us.

The check-in assistant was very helpful and efficient, even at 3am! We were offered window, aisle, or for £30 (£15 each) extra legroom seats. I decided that as I am 6'2" that we should splash out and upgraded.

Once checked-in, which took around 2 minutes, and paid the extra £30, we went upstairs to the cafe. It was quite dark outside, but we could see a BMI turboprop parked awaiting its next flight.

Once through security, which was just matter of showing a guard our boarding pass, and going through the X-Ray, we sat infront of a large window where we could see the apron of T1 and the hangars. There were a number of BMI Baby 737s, the Monarch 767, and a few others. I tried taking pics but they all came out blurred due to the lighting.

At 0520 we were called to the gate where we were sat for about 15 mins, outside I could see our A/C- 757-200 G-RJGR with the FO having a nap in the cockpit.

We boarded shortly afterwards, and found our seats at 31D/E. The seats were very comfortable, and the cabin crew were pleasant and cheerful. The aircraft was very clean, and nice and cool.

We pushed back at around 0550, and taxiied to the runway. Out of our window, which was slightly behind the seat, which meant I got an aching neck after a while, I could see all of Terminal 2. At that time of the morning there were a number of planes parked. We were the second departure of the day.

Take off was smooth and on time at 0605. The flight was also smooth with very little turbulence.

We didnt bother with the IFE which was a couple of TV shows that had been shown lots of times.

Shortly afterwards drinks were offered, we passed on these. After a while the food was served, which was a nice Full English breakfast (bacon, egg, and sausages). The food was hot and filling for that time of the morning.

Duty free was passed around shortly after that, on the outward flight we also passed on that.

We flew over France, and saw the Airbus factory. Then over Spain and Barcelona. Most of the way it was clear and could see every detail. We flew from the north of Majorca, where we were staying, over the hotel, and landed on time two hours later. Our cruising altitude was 38,000.

Landing was very smooth and taxi was quick. On arrival at the gate, we could see a Condor 767 (first time I've seen one in Thomas Cook livery), a Monarch 757 which had preceeded us from MAN, and a number of other Spannish carriers.

Disembarkation took a while as we were all going though one door, and there was a full plane load of 235. Baggage was quick to arrive on the belts. From there we walked passed a glass fronted, what looked to be the same size of a shop, room, filled with lots and lots of Wooster sized models. There was probably one of every different a/c to visit Palma- unfortunately I didnt get a picture of this.

We boarded the coach for the hour transfer to the hotel.

PMI-MAN
MYT296 B757-200 G-RJGR

On the morning of the 19th we were picked up from our hotel for the hour or so ride to the airport. Our tickets said to check-in 2 and half hours before the flight, I was very doubtful we'd make this as we had a number of pickups to do.

We arrived at the airport two and a bit hours before take off, the rep on the coach said the flight was 35 mins early and to check-in straight away, and then to departure lounge.

We got into the terminal which was littered with cardboard and paper- this was due to the cleaners being on strike. However, we got to the check in desks at the far end of the area from which the coach dropped us.

There were three fairly long queues, but these were moving quite freely, and we were waiting about 15 mins to check-in. The actual check-in was trouble free and took a matter of minutes. We werent offered any choice of seating, maybe this is because the check-in desks were manned by a third party.

Checked-in, we headed off to the departure lounge... a long long way from check-in. We arrived at security, which had a slight queue, but was moving quickly. Our passports were glanced at but nothing thorough.

We had a quick look though the duty free shop, but didnt buy anything so we went to the gate. We were greeted by a massive window, where we could see the runway and some of the gates. The windows were smeared but nothing too bad.

Waiting for boarding a number of aircraft took off and landed, these can be seen on my website. At about 10.20 we began boarding, this took a long time, although we were one of the first few on there. We were sat in 34A/B which are normal seats. Leg room wasnt too bad, although I couldnt have stayed there longer than 2 and a half hours.

Push back was delayed due to lack of take off slot, so we waited at the gate while other flights were going. Finally after about twenty minutes we pushed back, and taxiied to the runway.

The captain seemed to be a friendly guy and kept us up to date with the situation all the time.

The flight back was bumpier over Spain and France, but nothing serious. Drinks were served shortly after take off. I bought a can of Pepsi from the trolley, 80p for a small can. Expensive, but I really needed a drink.

Once at our cruising altitude of 36,000, food was served, which was Sausage and Mash potato, with gravy, along with a Chocolate sponge cake. The food was very nice, hot and filling. My Travels way of serving food was a lot better than the traditional tray. One box was handed to us with a mat folded around, in this box were cutlery, a bread roll, milk, sugar etc, and the chocolate cake. Another box was handed to us, this contained the hot food. Then when finished it's all put into a small bag and handed back.

Duty free was passed around while flying over France, I bought an Airbus A330 model, as the Boeing 757 had sold out. This was quite cheap compared to retailers at £8.50.

IFE was a movie, Oceans 12. Having already seen this we passed on it and just looked out the window. It was clear all the way back to the south coast of England, from there it was cloudy all the way home.

We flew over Wales where we started our decent, then Liverpool, and north of Manchester for a 24 approach. Once under the cloud, we could see my house which is on the approach. Landing was smooth and taxi was quick. In total we were about 45mins late.

Disembarkation was slow at MAN too as only one door was being used again. We went through security which was just another glance at our passports.

Baggage reclaim took ages as a number of flights had arrived together. We waited for about half an hour for our bags.

Then from there it was up the lifts to my dads car and home.

All-in-all it was a great flight with MYT, it was our first, and I'm sure it wont be our last.

I hope thats better   But if not, then nevermind.

Now this is much more detailed, thanks very much!

So the meals were free but you had to pay for the drinks? I'm surprised!

Regards, Alex.

Well, we had to pay for the meals but that was included as an extra in the total price of the holiday. We got tea/coffee/OJ with the meal free, but the drinks trolley was paid for.

Some people on the flight didnt have a meal... I knew I should have asked for another Big grin

Hi,

Great Trip Report! Really enjoyed reading it! Can't wait for my MyTravel flights!

Meals are mostly free of charge with MyTravel Group Holidays unless booking a Sun/Snow Deal, Star Buy or a Late Deal.

Did you take any on board pictures?

Regards

So how does the cabin crew find out what kind of ticket you have?

The last time I took a charter flight (MAN-IBZ on an MYT B757), we hadn't paid in advance for food but got some free anyway. I guess the travel agent/tour operator has the chance to 'con' some extra revenue out of pax at the booking stage (and I guess most people pay), but it would be too difficult to dole out food to some and not others, so everyone gets food on board.

We were on a Sundeal so we had to pay the extra. As far as I could tell they had a list of people/seats that were eating as they missed out the ones who werent, they didnt come down and ask who was and who wasnt.

Unfortuantely I didnt get any pictures on board... I knew I should have done! Ah well.

Theres always next time  Smile

That's OK! Maybe next time.

The system used to book holidays by travel agents (Viewdata, Gemini etc...) will only add a meal on to the cost of the holiday, if the holiday is a Sun/Snow Deal, Star Buy or if it is a Late Deal. This can be removed at the discretion of the customer anyway. Otherwise, meals are always free with MyTravel.

Quoting Ndebele (Reply 6):

On the Passenger Manifest, it tells the Cabin Crew which customers have a free meal or have paid for it in the case of the above. If the customer has accepted a meal on the Sun/Snow Deal, Star Buy (Short Haul) or Late Deal, they will receive one. If they have made a brochured booking, they will get a free meal which is indicated on the manifest to the crew.

Hope this helps!

Nice pics also Big grin

BTW - The "My Travel A320 possibly A321" is an A321-200 as the plane has 2 forward doors which an A320 doesn't have  Smile

Small world! Believe it or not I was sat next to you on the 19/7/05 in 34C (The guy reading Airliner World)

Have to admit that My Travel were excellent and could not fault them going on the 5/7/2005 or on the return.

With regard to the food it was OK, Bangers & Mash would not be my first choice but was better than the Fish,Chips & Peas I once got when they were Airtours.

According to the Airtours brochure I booked from your food was included in the price of the package and does not cost anything extra.

Wow! It is a small world!

My girlfriend whispered to me "you (being yourself) was in good company"!  Smile

First I knew we were going to be eating was when I saw it on the tix. I know that up until this time, everytime I've been on a package tour, food was included, but now, everything seems to be add-ons like transfers etc.
