Thanks for the nice comments, I'm just annoyed at the photo's because I couldn't work out how to take better photo's inside the aircraft, because the camera certainly takes much better pics outside

Well the old C class seats are definately wider and more comfortable to sit in, than the new ones which are narrower, but for reclining and sleeping, the new ones definately take the cake.
Virigins Upper Class Suite are much more comfortable, but I think the distinction here being that it is aimed as a "in-between" First and Business Class product, though that being said if I had to pay what they are asking for on a regular fare, then no way. It's only worth it on this MH/VS combo RTW

Very very nice trip report.
The pic of the lady in the MH lounge in MEL - i believe her name is Anne. This incredible person went back from the lounge to the check in area to fetch my Enrich FFP card which I had inadvertantly left behind, despite the fact that I asked her not to as it is a long walk. Top asset to MH she is
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for your MH/VS RTW ticket ?
It was $5000 AUD or 2143 British Pounds or $3831 USD, a relative bargain for example:
SYD-HKG-LHR VS Upper class between $7000-$8000 AUD
MEL-KUL-LHR MH Business Class between $5700-6500 AUD
and when you look at Australia-USA it's even higher, QF is towards the$10000 region
so in perspective for MEL-KUL-PEN-KUL-LHR-LAX-TPE-KUL-MEL, which if you added up the individual legs would cost triple what I payed it was well worth it.Plus the 150% Enrich FFP points, and we got triple miles on the KUL-LHR and the VS LHR-LAX.

The food on Malaysia Airlines looks better than a lot of restaurants I've been to!!! Looks like you had fun flying with all those different airlines and airplanes. I can't wait to fly on a B747-400 some day.

Nice report and good photos!
The MH food and lounges look pretty good, as does the VS Clubhouse.
The VS food on the otherhand looked pretty piss poor in comparison, especially bearing in mind it sits somewhere between J and F.
£2150 also represents superb value for money, I've paid not much less for just LHR-IAD-LHR in J and thought it was superb value!

It wasnt as bad as it looked, I think the seat comfort factor made up for the food.
Quoting Daron4000 (Reply 16): Where did you find such a great deal, plus amazing report?
It's a standard airfare available here is Australia, I booked through Flight Centre. I think also because the airfare is limited in some respects, you can only fly to where MH/VS fly to. Therefore there are NO domestic flights included in Europe or the US, but MH/VS do fly to many destinations thankfully.
Quoting BG777300ER (Reply 14): The food on Malaysia Airlines looks better than a lot of restaurants I've been to!!! L
Well would you beleive they are actually improving the whole menu and delivery service, inline with the new aircraft upgrades!!!
Thanks for the comments everyone, much appreciated!

Quoting ZKSUJ (Reply 21): Excellent report. Some very very nice photos, I really like some of those shots.
I wish they could only be better, I forgot to take the manual for the camera, and hence all the low light shots are blurry as I did'nt want to ruin the ambient lighting... oh well better luck next time

Wow I loved your photo report. I have considered doing one like this with all photos and few words. It looks like MH and VS served you very well.
I definitely recognized the places where you took some of your photos in PEN. Unfortunately I only got a 734 when I flew MH to Penang and not the widebody: Malaysia Airlines SIN-PEN-SIN 5-Star Service! (by RoseFlyer Oct 15 2005 in Trip Reports)
My job is to make it so your flight is not delayed. Come fly the friendly skies!

I made sure our flights were on the widebody flights for the day... that way I go to experience the A332 and A333
Where did you stay in Penang?
