I flew on Emirates's new fifth daily flight EK030, to Dubai from London Heathrow. I had purchased the ticket through a website for £314 (which is really cheap, considering Emirates normally charge £400+).
At the airport, check in was a breeze, even though I was 10 KG over nobody said anything, After check-in I went straight to the Servisair lounge, which I had pre-booked. The lounge was ok, with a selection of snacks such as nuts and fruits and a full bar.
My aircraft was an Airbus A330-200 (2class), I had preselected my seat 7A (enormous legroom and 2 windows, fold out pvt, in effect a business class seat without the recline) being a skywards member.
All in all a good flight, food was good but only 1 meal service, flight started with a savoury biscuit round and ended with a ice cream round prior to landing.
No amenity kit though.
On arrival at DXB airport I was met by the Jumeirah Beach Club representitve who arranged my transfer to the hotel.

Quoting Bigpappa (Reply 1): how does the 330 compare to the 777 (if you've been on one) on ek?
I was due to fly back on EK029 09:55 but the flight had been overbooked and I was therefore put on the last flight of the day EK005 16:15.
At check in when I was informed that my flight was overboked, the check in lady was very helpfull, she said I'd have to wait 10 minutes as she was going to try to book me on the flight I had booked. She said if I was put on that flight I would be given a 100 usd or if no seats could be found I'd be given a free flight voucher.
In the end I was put on the later flight and received a free flight coupon (yipee).
The flight was uneventfull, a full Boeing 777-300 (3 class). Th flight was full because of Emirates being overbooked on a previous flight and BA's unoffoicial strike.
The only thing was the cabin crew member who was serving our row missed us when passing by with the scened towels.
In terms of the A330-200 (2 class) V B777-300 (3 class) I'd go for the A330-200 as there is only 1 person sitting next to you (2-4-2 seating). Also it seemed to be quieter. Best seat in EK's economy class is 7A/7K.
What I would reccomend is to join skywards at www.skywards.com prior to flying EK, this will enable you to pre-select your seats.
