I arrived at terminal 2 at 550p after taking the JFK Airtrain from the Jamaica Sta. I was surprised that the check-in line wasn't very long because there were flts departing to LAX and TPA within an hour of my 705p departure. I printed my boarding pass at work and only had a carry on so I went directly to the security check point which was also pretty much empty. There was a group of Asian travelers that seemed confused and that held the line up for about ten minutes because they kept beeping as they went through the scanner and also had a lot of electronic devices in their carry on bags. When I looked back the line had grown to nearly 30 passengers. I finally got through on the first walk through and headed to my departure gate of 27 right next to security. The monitor displayed a boarding time of 640p. Boarding actually started early at 630p. I was in Zone 5 and was happy to see no one in my row. I stowed my carry on and just watched the rest of boarding hoping no one would sit in the middle seat. As 655p neared, I noticed the same group of Asian passengers blocking the aisle because they were trying to force their large carry ons into the overhead bins. The passengers behind them looked as if they were getting very annoyed and one yelled out, "Can you please step aside because you guys are blocking half the plane from getting to their seats." Well this didn't work because they continued to stand in the aisle and talk until a flight attendant asked very nicely and with a smile to step aside. The waiting passengers brushed past and grunted loudly at that time. The flight pulled away from the gate right on time however, the pilot informed us JFK was congested and we were approximately 25 for take off. Well I got to see a beautiful sunset while waiting our turn to runway 31L. Finally, at 830p we took off and made a sweeping right turn across Jamaica Bay then over the Queens/Long Island border. I noticed the DL 763 that was behind us making the same right turn we just made however it was much lower. Our flt continued over Queens and Long Island than over Westchester Co. where we flew directly over HPN. Soon after we reached our cruising altitude which was 37,000 feet if I remember correctly. Once we passed BUF we turned west and flew over Ontario, Canada north of DTW and MSP (I got a nice view of both the city and airport). During the flt I purchased a movie (The Longest Yard) and the Ole Fiesta for $5 each. I was lucky to have the entire three seats to myself so I strecthed out and enjoyed the 5 hr 48 min flt. We started out decent and approach from the south at about 11p. The moving map showed that Mt. Rainier was to the south of us however it was night so I was not able to see the mountain. We touched down and parked at gate A11 at about 11:20p. One note I have never flown cross country in completely clear skies. I could see the ground the entire time except for maybe 5 mins when we were approaching SEA.
Overall I really enjoyed Song. The movies and music selections were really good as well as the food. I love AA but really like the idea of having a large selection of entertainment and food when I fly. The flight info map is also a huge plus because I look out the window regularly and like to know where the plane is flying. The seats are comfortable and F/A's cheery and helpful.

Thanks for the report! I also got the same 10,000 bonus miles offer, and will indeed fly JFK-SFO-JFK. I just wonder how many beverage service does they do? On my previous Song flights from MCO to JFK, they only give me a glass of beverage and I wonder if they pass out full can since it is a six hours flight.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Song. I've seen their planes a few times at SEA now and have been hoping to give them a try, but don't really fly to JFK much.
You mentioned that you had a bunch of empty seats around you - what would you estimate the load as for this flight? I'm kind of surprised that DL now has 3x daily SEA-JFK considering that they used to only have 1x 757 and 1x 738 on the route, and loads weren't too high during the off-season. They know what they're doing though.
Would be great to see Song start SEA-MCO, as has been rumored.

I'll be on SEA-JFK next month on a mileage run...right now, there's only about 10 people on the plane, so it looks pretty empty. Anyway, nice to have a small preview of what to expect on this route...even though I intend on spending most of it sleeping.

I would estimate the flt was approximately 75% full. I did notice I was the only person lucky enough to have an entire row to themselves. Alot of middle seats were empty. The F/A's came around twice with the beverage and food cart. I'll post the return trip later this weekend.

My partner and I took my handicapped younger brother (wheelchair bound from partial paralysis and Downs Syndrome) on SONG last month LGA-PBI-LGA.
What we experienced was truly remarkable in regards to service. Absolutely every single SONG employee we came into contact with both on the ground at LGA and at PBI and in the air were phenominal! They treated my brother like a star and were absolutely wonderful to us in regards to making the trip as easy as possible. This included the gate agt at LGA going as far as to offer to re-seat other passengers, without my even asking, in order to get us seats together, which we werent able to do ahead of time as the flight was full.
And it wasn't just us - - everyone on board got great service (and let me tell you they had some tough customers on that flight too - -those elderly "Boca-goers" can be a tough crowd to please!) Its so nice to see flight crews able to loosen up and have a good time. They created a vacation atmosphere immediately -- and the very same thing happened on the way home - so it wasnt just a fluke of a good crew or a good day.
I'm in the process of writing a Trip Report (to be posted l8r tonight) .. but i have to say SONG was an absolute pleasure and I wish them (and, of course their parent Delta, too!) all the success possible.
SONG has the right attitude - and (i daresay), I wouldn't mind seeing mainline Delta adopt the same "happy" feel that SONG has ! In any case, evenif we weren't frequent fiers on DL, these SONG experiences would bring me back for sure and we're spreading the word. And after the fantastic service .. the next best thing? LGA-PBI for $69.00 !!??!!?!!?

I am doing a FLL-JFK-SEA this friday to see if i get the 10,000 bonus miles.
I have been flying almost exclusively on Song since June and i have been extremely satisfied with the overall product and service. I hope that DL gets out of their financial trouble and keeps expanding the Song product. I just can't imagine getting on other boring airlnes (you know who they are) as the land agents and f/a are so nice and helpful. I congratulate them for making the extra effort even through this tough times. I am loyal to delta now mainly because of Song, but aslo prefer DL over the other legacies (except for the delays in ATL).
Has anybody received the 10,000 bonus miles already? there was another promotion for double miles on Song during Sept and OCT. I flew Song over labor day weekend and still have not seen the double miles. I know it normally takes longer but it was just wondering how long it takes. I am doing another NYC roundtrip on song in 3 weeks and Vegas in October..just can't get away from Song

How was the free part of the IFE? I got a 4+ hr flight on song in November, LAS-MCO (and I'm cheap). Its nice to hear all these positive things about song, makes me feel better about choosing them to fly on.

Delta posted the 10,000 bonus skymiles to my account the same day I returned back to New York. FlySong.com sent me the offer via e-mail back in June or July and I needed to register before I departed in order to get the bonus. I accrued just under 15,000 miles for a $326 ticket.
