Hello Guys,
My first trip report.
Will be many from now on, will try to publish as many as I can, also from past flights.
In July I flew to Barcelona with LH (my fav airline for connecting European routes), great flights.
Arrived to the airport at 2:45PM, schedule for take off was 4:30PM. checkin was fast, business class line, same for security.
My seat assignment was 5A, I reserved the seat as I always do.
After that, I went up, to the passport control, went to the Dan Lounge in TLV (the lounge for the foreign airlines) and sat there for quite a while, I really like the Dan Lounge, It's nicer then the Elal lounge in TLV, much more comfy and stylish.
Flight info:
Route: TLV-FRA
Flight: LH687
Aircraft: Boeing 747-400
Boarding was pretty fast, the procedure in Israel is not like in the states, like in Europe, business class / first are called last to board the planes (I really think we should start working with zones)...
I went to my seat, great F/A's welcomed me, as always, LH have great F/A's, took my coat, and started my journey to FRA.
We took off from Runway 30, DEENA1FS departure (if anyone is interested in more detail :P), after reaching to Cruise alt service has began.
We were offered as a starter a salad, sliced meat and some other thing I can't remember, that's the normal starter for flight from TLV to FRA and back, I always get the same starter when flying LH!
For main course we had a choice between a Pasta Bolognese (sorry if I misspelled) or a Lamb. I took the Pasta, best choice!
For desert, we got the normal Cheese plate and a fresh fruit salad, again, the normal desert for LH flights to TLV and back.
Flight went smooth, great weather during the flight, for my surprise, we had a very young F/A (always nice) that spoke Hebrew, she insisted that we will talk with her in Hebrew and not in english.

The departure hall C in TLV
We arrived to FRA at approx 8PM, right on time, and my connecting flight to Barcelona was in a 45 min difference, had to run.
I arrived to the boarding area for BCN, and due to a major storm FRA had that day, we had a 3 hour delay! So I headed to the Lounge in Terminal A, which was VERY crowded due that all the flights were delayed, so I decided to go out and drink in a cafe, much more comfortable then the lounge!
Okay, after a 3 hour delay we finally departed, flight was EMPTY! we were only 2 people in business class, and from what I saw, only 20-40 people in Economy, most were Chinese tourists.
After reaching the crz alt, we got our meals, cold meat balls with a salad, I just gave it back. Was really disappointed with this, I told the F/A I'd prefer to get the Economy sandwich instead, so she brought it to me.
Overall this flight was fine, could've been better, but ah well, domestic European, can't expect much more.
We reached Barcelona, I just love Barcelona, great place, my brother was waiting for me outside, and off I went to enjoy Barcelona again! .

Flight back:
I reached El Prat airport, I reserved myself the morning flight from BCN to FRA, so I could do some spotting at FRA, reached BCN about an hour before departure, seat assignment was already reserved, 2A, great crew in the check-in, VERY friendly!
After going thru security, which was fast, I went to Spanair lounge, quite nice, I always enjoy visiting there, great food , took a Business Week mag and went to the plane.
We took off right on time, this flight was much better then the flight from Frankfurt to BCN, much more friendlier crew, and a very nice brakefast was offered, which was an Omllete with Cheese and a very good Salad. Right behind me a A300 Captain was seating, I asked him if I can bother him, and talked with him about LH, a very nice guy!
We reached Frankfurt, parked at the Alpha as usual per European flights.
Some pics:
After reaching FRA, I put my luggage in the business lounge in Bravo and went to the terrace, met with some mates, it was a fantastic day, Can't wait to do that again soon!
At approx 7PM I went back to the terminal, went to the lounge in Bravo, and drank a coke and ate something, and did some checking with the nice crew in the lounge about my flight to tel aviv. I finished with that, and off I went to the flight.
As usual, flight from FRA to TLV leave from C, quite a walk, and then after boarding, you go into a "cage" that what we call it, and stay there for about 15 min, and then you board the plane, not very friendly, but due to security, we go through there.
Unfort. the plane today was the A332, instead of the A333, not sure what happened, I had a few trips on LH's 333 with the new Business Class, and it was fantastic, really wished I had it this time also. (ah well, I'll have it soon enough)
After boarding, I was greeted by the normal friendly crew of LH, took my coat as usual. We took off right on time also.
The meals were the same as before, only change was instead of the Lamb we were offered a very nice Veal Stake (if I'm not wrong).
Overall this flight was great, We arrived right on time to TLV, Gate C9 as usual for LH.

I really enjoyed this trip, like I always enjoy flying LH, and my next trip with LH is to Amsterdam, in a month, stay tuned for another trip report!
Hope you liked this report, please bare in mind It's my very first, I'll get better slowly :P
And also, those pictures were taken with my old camera, not with the new 350D, sorry for the quality if there's any problem.

Royi,
Nice trip report; looking forward to your LH-trippie to AMS.
Lately, they've substituted the 319/320 quite often to AMS with ARJ's (from FRA that is): have you ever flown these beauties ?

The A332 looks like the old Sabena planes LH bought/leased. Too bad because they are dated indeed from the pre-flat business chair era.
The good thing though, is that these old Sabena planes are the only LH planes with personal TV's in Economy. But you flew business class however. If you flew economy you would have surprised I think to find tv's on a LH plane!

Quoting Royisher (Reply 6): SNBru, yep I know it has PTV's, also the Ex Swiss one has PTV's in the Economy.
But those aren´t AVOD, are they ? And how´s the y-class pitch on those planes ? Somehow I have the feeling that it might be better than usual LH economy.

Great report, thanks also for the pictures!

No, they don't offer the AVOD feature.

In 1999 I flew BRU-ATL on a SN A332 and I had a middle seat in the Economy Class. Guess what? I couldn't complain, the seat pitch was great, even for a 10 hour flight.

Very interesting report - we don't get to read many reports covering flights to or from Israel around here. Also, the pictures from TLV are the first ones I have seen online.

thanks for sharing your trip report with us.
Great work!
Looking forward to reading more on reports on flights ex/to TLV.
Make sure to post a report on your AMS flight.
Will be flying FRA-TLV-FRA in DEC, time to go and visit my mother-in-law in TLV.

Hi Royisher,
thanks for your great report.
I have a question to your Check In on your flight LH 690 from FRA to TLV. Do you remember that you passed through the big and mostly empty security hall on the ground floor at the high risc gate C?
I worked at Frankfurt Airport (Fraport) for a while and sometimes I helped in the high risc gate for flights to TLV. But when I was there, it was only used by El Al. Do you remember, if Lufthansa used it, too?

Stefan,
LH use that one too. IIRC C22-23 are shared by LY and LH , yet LY have a separate entrance.
Strange thing I've just saw on fraport's website: I flew out of there many many times, always C22-23, yet now the site indicates that tonight's LH690 departs from B...

Hey Stefan,
Yes, indeed, those are the "Israeli gates" in fraport! Actually for my past few flights, I took off from C21 hehe
FYI - Elal will NOT use those gates anymore, they complained to Fraport about this, and they got them to move them, more info soon!
Lp0815 - I'm very sorry I didn't reply you! I forgot all about this, I'm very very sorry!! Well I'm on Wednesday on the 691, if anyone is on that one, let me know hehe .
Ly7e7 - according to LH site LH690 tonight will depart from C21
