The main reason for this trip was to hopefully see the Airbus A380 in Sydney.
Checkin at the airport was quick and painless.
However once on the plane I had the FA tell me to put the camera away for takeoff. However I have had it out for takeoff many times with other airlines and a previous flight with Virgin Blue so why now?. That annoyed me quite a bit. Same for the landing.

These pics were taken in flight.

Other than that the flight was smooth and uneventful.
However I was allowed to see the flight deck on the way out and had a quick chat to the first officer about the A380 being in Sydney.

The A380
Watching this beast takeoff was spectacular and it was quieter than I expected and the aircraft was smaller than what I was expecting also.
Although good to see it for real I still think it looks like a bloated pregnant whale. Also the hybrid Airbus-Qantas colours look awful.
There was quite a crowd to see it go. Once the A380 took off most of the crowd went.

Takeoff from Sydney was rough in cloud with strong turbulence.

Flight was smooth after getting above the clouds. As we got closer to Adelaide the sky cleared.
Had a can of Lemonade and some chips to eat.
This flight was not full so I had the three seats to myself.

There were a few bumps during the approach into Adelaide. Landing was smooth.

The Virgin Blue 737s have a very basic interior. No roof mounted TV no nothing.
What do you expect on a 1-1/2 flight?

What happened to DJ getting PTVs with LiveTV, same as Jetblue?

I dunno... Westjet and JetBlue seem to do fine with live satelite television. (Westjet has segments which are 40 minutes. 28 live channels are available as the aircraft passes 5000 feet.)

Virgin Blue won't have the LiveTV-style PTVs until sometime next year, though one promotional aircraft will be equipped by the end of this year - as to what I have been told by sources inside DJ.

Cheers.

Nope Lee, no tvs, but there is the radio entertainment to keep you entertained, certainly passed the time on my SYD-BNE flight last week.
