Hey everyone,

It's been years since my last trip report, but today's flight on CX716 from SIN to HKG was definitely something to write home about- I was upgraded to First! I've already written an entry on my blog about it, so it'll double as my trip report because I'm too lazy to retype it. Check it out here:

My contact info is in my xanga if you have any questions. Let me know if the bandwidth for photobucket is exceeded, I'll upgrade to premium then. Enjoy!

Hi,

Photo's work just fine.

Nice report, the food looks superb.

The last time I flew this route, it was with Jetstar Asia, does not really compare!!

Rgds

Yep, 713 (BKK-SIN) and 716 seem to be always overbooked.

We were upgraded to First with just CX Green/AA basic status last time. It was nice, however I don't like the way how the product felt cheapened by 11 upgrades and 1 paying pax (no wine lists, wrong menus, less than stellar service which is rare on CX). Huge difference to SQ First IMHO. Having said that, the flight still ranks light years ahead of TG or LH.

Nice photos and report!

The first class seats look nice but the colour is so strange! I prefer SQ's F class colour.

Food also looks very nice, the presentation is superb, but I don't think they taste that good.

Light years ahead of TG/LH c class service? You've got to be kidding, when was the last time you fly TG/LH new C class services?  Wink

Let's just blame it on yields.

I haven't flown on new TG/LH C, I was talking about F and how it compares.

Last time was April on LH, SQ regularly after that.

LH intra-asia just doesn't do it for me. More like CX/SQ J - the food is generally ok to bad, wines are nice and crew are nice. While TG ground services in BKK were nice, the flight was nowhere near LH longhaul, let alone SQ longhaul. I love TG but their F just doesn't cut it, I'd choose LH over TG.

Comparing SQ and CX regional F - in this one occasion CX F (713 BKK-SIN) didn't come within 1000 miles of SQ service.

I'm intelligent enough to realize that we were all upgraded but were the others? An upgrade is a good way to market your product and CX didn't do it on this segment. We were even directed to C lounge - like the BKK F lounge would be a palace!  Yeah sure Giving no lounge access to upgraded Y pax and C lounge to upgraded C pax is extremely bad judgement on CX's part IMHO. Cost is minimal and the potential to impress the upgraded pax huge.

I will be doing HKG-SYD-HKG later in CX F and expect it to be on par with SQ.

I agree with you guys regarding SQ. I flew Raffles on SIN-HKG a few months back and I was sad to say that it trumped CX's Business Class. But being a loyal Marco Polo Club silver member, I still stick with CX. It's still a wonderful airline and leaps and bounds ahead of any of the major US carriers.

Thanks for a great report!
It's nice to read a report when the writer was really excited about the flight! I was feeling the same when I first heard the words "Main deck or upper deck, sir?" from the check-in lady!
