A thorough, thoughtful, and truly enjoyable report! You captured alll of the glitz, fast pace and outright strangeness that is modern Japan. Made me want to go back for another visit, too! Sorry to read about your expensive roto-sushi debacle.

Very good and comprehensive. I am a AA retiree and I flew the 777 many times between US and Tokyo and the service is great. I am a missionary currently living in Japan. Once you've been here a little while you get used to the way we do things here. I live in Soka which is a suburb of Tokyo. I have found it easy to get around by train and by subway. The subway lines are color coded..very similar to the London Underground. Sorry you had to pay so much for your lunch. I have found that most places have their menus and different items on display so you can decide beforehand what you want.
The 777's are being reconfigured in business class and all first class cabins whill have the Flagship Suite configuration. Very nice.
I hope you fly AA again to Tokyo

Excellent report, as always. Hopefully you will keep posting your reports here, I post(ed) (not on as much) on Flyertalk as NorthwestCRJ. I got your personal message, but could not do anything as it said you have already been suspended. Look forward to reading many more of your reports.

There was this short girl in a baseball cap with three tatooed guys and a big buff guy standing at the front of the line. As they called first class boarding my subconscious thinking was these people couldn't possibly be in first so I went ahead of them and handed my boarding pass to the gate agent. The girl said something like "Hello..." to which I replied "I'm in first class." She responded, "well I am too!"
Great report; however; I fly nothing but First Class domestically, you'll always find me in my baseball cap, t-shirt & jeans (or shorts if I'm on my favorite AA flight to Miami) & I have several tattoo's (that do show). I would suggest for the future you not judge people buy there looks because I will say something when I get cut off boarding the airplane.
I look forward to many more of your reports; I'm about to advance to QF Platinum status and like to see someone else who enjoys the lounges as much as I do!

Well you are very welcome for the special thanks you gave me. It's too bad you were there in the winter as Tokyo Giants games are something that must be experianced to be believed.

Hey Charles (CMK10),
Nice to hear from you again! I just got back from 4 months in China and took AA's awesome new Shanghai service. It was great and I hope you have the chance to go. Did you manage to snag some of those cheapo LHR-LAX AA first tickets? I bought about two dozen for myself and friends. It's going to be a great autumn for flying AA! I just hope all those ice cream sundaes don't make me fat!
