430am - I wake up after having a bad dream. Got a drink of water and played on the internet for a little bit
545am - Go to sleep
6am - Wake up again. Shower. Get dressed
700am - Leave home. Took the bus ride up to LA Union Station
The time is estimated 47 minutes if you go to LA Union Station
808am - Arrived at Union Station. Had time to take some pictures and grab cinnamon rolls, etc.
850am - Went to Track 5B where I found Metrolink train 205 to Lancaster. I accidently bought my ticket to Palmdale, which is the station before Lancaster
915am - Train 205 departs LAUS for the 2 hr ride to Lancaster via Burbank, Glendale, Sun Valley, San Fernando, Newhall, Santa Clarita, Princessa, Vincent Grade-Acton, Palmale, and Lancaster.
1104am-Arrived in Lancaster. My friend Adrian picks me up. We head off to his place where he would show me his buses for the next few hours.
Adrian took # 2591 out for a spin. The only thing wrong with this bus was 1) the transmission would skip 2nd gear and take a long time to go into 3rd gear. I Drove it on the return trip back to his place…and it drove good .. Rather bouncy too
2739. A 1989 Flxible Metro 401026C transit bus
We also had a look at # 2739 …. Which has some problems in keeping air. We transferred air from # 2591 into # 2739. We discovered that there were some wires underneath the bus that appeared to have been chewed off, prolly from some kind of an animal. Ex LACMTA 2739 will be repainted and fixed up as if brand new. It will be called “OPERATION 2739”. Mainly the bus will be repainted, a new layer of tri-stripes and other decals will be applied on. The interior will be fixed up after repainting. Estimated time to complete project will be approximately by Summer or Fall 2006. After completion, it will be used on fan trips, excursions, etc
125pm-It was time for me to head back to the Metrolink Station
138pm-Metrolink shows up. It departs for Los Angeles 2 minutes later. This trip was a little bit busy.
245pm-I awake from a little nap. Two girls and some dude they were engaging in a loud conversation. I eventually moved until after we arrived in Union Station.
330pm-Boarded MTA 7930 on Line 446 home.
450pm-Arrived home. I started to pack all my stuff , do laundry, and clean the house … as I prepare for a trip to Arkansas, and NYC.
9pm- Finally leave home in the taxi. I also made sure the rent was paid for January before I left too. Also made sure that the manager would sign for my package from UPS …. X-Plane version 8.21
935pm-Got to LAX Trminal 5 ( Delta)… so after a while, I went ahead and checked-in at the kiosk. I had one bad to check in … didn’t feel like lugging it aroung
10pm-Finally got through the long line of security. Seemed like it took forever. Proceeded to the McDonalds for a little high fat n chlosterol. Ironic that my total came up to $7.77 at the checkout line. At this point, I don’t know whether to think if it’s a good luck sign of is it a bad thing.
After I got my food, I took it over to Gate 57, where I sat down and watched China Southern Flight 326 to Ghanzhou, China load up and depart. Announcements were made in both English, Chinese, and I think Mandarin.
After that flight boarded everyone, I went to Gate 59 and waited to board Delta 166 to ATL. I was very careful in booking this flight … because this would be my first time riding the Boeing 772ER.
Boarding began at about 1055pm. The flight left on-time at 1130pm. My seat was 49F … YES AN AISLE SEAT. I did make a request to change to the window seat earlier, but I don’t like sitting by an exit door. The last time Ive done that was on a Northwest Airlines B752. I had a very bad ear infection for 3 weeks, in which I wouldn’t hear anything out of one ear. Anyways back to this flight …..Though after being awake since 330a, I was having difficulty keeping awake. I managed to stay awake until after takeoff, and until we were flying over Seal Beach. After that, I fell asleep through the snack sevice. I was probably a nuissance to my neighbor, because I snore. Though I think he was asleep too, so no harm done.
I was awaken at the end of the flight. We was already on final approach into ATL at about 634am. The landing was smooth, and the weather wasn’t crappy.
I deplaned and decided to take a picture of the aircraft from the airport window. I used my jacket to filter out the lights inside the terminal … it came out pretty good, what you think of it ???

Anyway .. I look on the display board to see where that same plane would go next. Turns out it would go to NRT as Delta 055. I snapped a picture of the message board, and then proceeded to my connecting flight… luckily it was in the same terminal.

My connecting flight would be Delta Flight 1704 to Memphis ( Boeing 737-800 ).
This flight left ATL at 755am on-time. However, due to the turbulence in the air, there were no in-flight snacks serviced. The crew apologized for not serving us, and gave us bottled water on the way out the door.
Coming into MEM
NOW THE INTRESTING PART …. After not seeing my mother in over 5 months, this was one reunion that I will never forget. I went downstairs to claim my luggage … not realizing I passed by her. She changed her hair-do dramatically … and so have I. In fact, Ive maintain my curly hair for about 2 months so far. We laughed at each other for a few minutes along with a long hug.Like mother like son of course.
After claiming my luggage, we head off to the Woodchase Mall in East Memphis … before we would make the 45 mile drive to my home town of Marked Tree, Arkansas …. Population 2800. I would spend the next 3 days here with my mom, grandmother, cousins, and my aunt.

This is the day that I would leave my family, and head off to NYC to visit friends on the east coast.
1030am-Its time to say goodbye to everybody except mom…whom would drive me to KMEM. We picked up another family friend, whom would tag along with my mom to the mall afterwards.
1125am-We arrived at MEM. I said goobye to mom … along with some pics curbside.
129am-Im inside .. And I check-in at the kiosk. My cell phone goes off …. And everyone, including the DL employees, heard that ringtone on it … “HEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYY, ANSWER YOUR DAMN PHONE. GLASSEN IT ONLY RINGE ONCE, GIVE THE GUY A BREAK”. It went off for 3 more times until I answered it. It was of course mom.
After I got off the phone with mom, all the employees and supervisors loved my ringtone … so they wanted to hear it again. One of the agents called my cellphone, and EVERYBODY was ROFL.
After about 10 minutes of BS’ing with the friendly DL employees, I proceeded through security and onto Gate A27.…where I would await fot DL 1609 to ATL.
The plane ( MD88 ) pulled up at the gate at about 1253pm. I took advantage of the $125 upgrade on both legs of the trip.
Boarding commenced at 110pm, and I did make a recording of Delta’s famous automatic talking announce as well.
I was welcomed on board by 2 friendly F/As on board the aircraft… one of them took my coat, while the other one pampered me with peanuts and drinks to go around. The boarding process was normal. Pushback was on-time … though we had to wait 15 minutes in MEM due to traffic in ATL.
The ride to ATL was smooth for the most part… a lil bumpy on the initial decent…but it smoothen out later on. We arrived in ATL at about 425pm. Still had 2 hours to kill. I went scrolling through Concorse B, making various announcements of the boarding calls on my minidisk recorder. In addition, I walked to the food court area and got food to eat.

After the food stop, I slowly make my way to gate B2. And still making various recordings of the talking announcement systems throughout the concorse. On the way back to the gate, I ran into the same F/As that were on DL 1609... In fact, they were headed to LGA with me…since that is where they are based at. It was funny too cuz they were the only F/As to even have on their Happy New Year hats.
They rushed to B3 to prepare N995DL …. And I made it there a few minutes later.
Boarding started at about 6pm … and this was an overbooked flight too. I thought about giving up my seat for somebody that really needed to get there. Since I checked in my bag, and since I already paid to upgrade to First on this flight … I thought to myself “ The hell with this, don’t change it”.
One thing about N996 is the interior, it had all leather blue and periwinkle blue seats … and this particular aircraft had a nice whine to it while idling.
Push back was on-time more or less. We took off on-time. For snack, we had a cheese quesadilla with a salad and chocolate cake. I ate everything except for the cake.
After the light snack, it was time to come down into NYC. We came down under the clouds, and into a wet NYC. Landing was smooth, but the taxiing part was a but bumpy towards the gate. We arrived at LGA approximately 831pm instead of 9pm. We were towed into the gate, so that makes it another 10 minutes down the drain. Claiming baggage took about 20 minutes or so.

That was my first time seeing a SAA aircraft up close before.
Yeah ive been into transportation ever since I was a little kid pretty much. Ive started doing recordings in 2003. I have some pretty funny safety feature announcements saved up here...one of those recordings I made on DL339 (ATL-PHL ) which was too long, but recorded it anyway.
Stay tuned for my next trip report. Next week, Ill be flying to the Miami Area via WN in both directions. Flying into FLL of course ... a few more credits and another free ticket on them.

Another excellent report! I'm a transportation fanatic myself, have been since I was a kid. More into trains and planes than busses, but to each his own. Makes for interesting reading, in any case. I also love the recorded announcements. My signature line is a recorded announcement from the Budapest metro.
