Hello Again. This is my second trip report and indeed the return trip report for the first one I wrote last week. Again, I am afraid that there are no piccies but I hope the text is sufficient to give a good idea.

Date:- December 30th
Flight:- AR1480
Aircraft:- Boeing 747-400
Sheduled Departure Time:- 10.50
actual Departure Time:- 11.00
Seat:- 7K (Lower Deck)

We left out hotel early morning arrived at Barajas Airport really in too much time!! Any it did have its advantages as the check in desks were empty so we proceed to the Club Condor desks to check in our bags. I mentioned in my last report that I have never had a good checkin with AR and they didn't disappoint. This time, I had asked for a seat in the lower deck and the girl on the check in gave me 6K which is on the upper deck. I asked it to be changed to which she replied that it was the lower deck..... Anyway I wont go into the details of the cat fight but I eventually won and she gave me seat 7K.

After a quick security check we headed for the SpanAir VIP lounge. This lounge is used as AR code share with SpanAir.

The lounge was of course airside and like its counterpart in EZE had one huge window at the far side of the lounge which looked out onto the runway, taxiways and the aprons which was excellent.

After depositing my carryon infront of the window I went to check out the refreshments and I have to say that the lounge is very well stocked indeed. Red and White wines, Champage, Local Beers, Soft Drinks and of course tea and coffee. That was coupled with biscuits and other savouries which to me was just right - I am not a big fan of eating too much in the lounge as AR food in Club tends to be very good!

Once our flight was called me made the LOOONG walk to terminal A where our plane was being loaded with PAX and baggage but as is always the case with AR we were transported in a bus which personally I hate as I always seems to arrive on the plan flustered somewhat.....

As per the trip report I made last week (Aerolineas Argentinas Business First - EZE > MAD) the seat and cabin were the same as it were the same aircraft so I wont go into detail of that here as I dont want to bore you all repeating myself  Smile

Once again chamagne and conopes were served along with a good selection of newspapers and magazines again in Spanish and English and the female and male 'kits'.

After an un eventful taxi and takeoff and a well stocked bar service later out tables were laid with a white linen cloth and our food served.

This time we had a salmon and orange salad and I went for the Duck pate with cranberry sauce with warm bread which was very tasty indeed.

Following from that there was an option of Cod, Salmon or Muscles to eat and I went for the Cod via the head pursers recomendation and it again was excellent.

I skipped the desert of cheese cake due to my addiction to the AR cheese board and was not disappointed!! If anyone asks me the best things about the AR Club Condor my response is always the same - The Cheese Board!!!!!

There was no sound in Club Condor which made viewing a movie difficult so I passed the flight reading, watching the moving map and chatting to the crew.

Again I was lucky enough to have another excellent crew whom I made sure I thanked as I left the plane in EZE - they just seemed to go that little bit further for us.

A hour before landing a snack service was given - Salad, Mushroom Crepes and fruit with of course a Bar Service.

Before I knew it was back in Buenos Aires and my holidays were over but I was in plenty of time to start celebrating the new year.

Overall then, I have to say that the first leg of the flight was marginally better than the return because of the food service and the fact that it had sound I suppose is another good point!! My one critisim is that the food from Madrid was too fish based for my liking - certainly if you are not seafood lovers then you would go hungry MAD > EZE!

Aerolineas Argentinas could be one of the greats if it werent for disorganised airports, rude and arrogant ground staff and the lottery that is your inflight crew. That said, with AR the positives far outweigh the negatives and I guess that is important. The seats are massive and very comfortable, the food very tasty and fresh, an excellent bar service and a very spacious yet comfy and private cabin.

I would never hesitate to fly with them again in Club Condor - and as I said in my last report AR really is one of those airlines where I would say to anyone... "Go on give it a try - You might never fly with anyone else again"

Hope you enjoyed my final instalment - again any comments good or bad would be appreciated!!!

Cheers

Mark

While Madrid is a city of Fishlovers, I too would have expected to see Argentinean Beef as one option offered as it was on your first flight ...  Wink

Same with me !

Quoting Treeny (Thread starter):
seat 7K.

Don´t you like to fly on the upper deck ?
I prefer it over the main deck, as I found that usually the upper deck is quiter than the main deck (less people = less noise).

Oh yes!!!! The thing was I was travelling with my wife and 6 month year old son and this time we thought it better to be downstairs so that we could walk him around a bit more freely!!!!!

But yes in general you cant beat the upper deck!

Yeah that it strange isnt it. But then the starter contained spanish ham so it seems that AR generally just take on board the local food rather than, as you say, asking for something more argentinean... maybe there is a cost issue involved?

Two really nice trip reports, Treeny! Makes an Argentine somewhat proud of its national airline, seeing they offer a decent product. Although I have mostly flown AR for national flights from AEP and from inner-Argentina airports, never ever did I have a problem while checking-in. However, I don't know about EZE.

Saludos,
Marambio

Hola Marambio como andas?

It could be that I am just a bit fussy and all that but it just seems that with AR checkin in Ezeiza they just dont want to be there and are slighty robotic. I always make a point of being polite and curteous when I do checkin as it often helps me more than anything improve my seat as I am very tall and thus when travelling in tourist class need a bit of extra room to be comfortable.

Their only defense (and I dont wish to sound too snobby) is that the AR terminal is ALWAYS busy and really is too small for the quantity of passengers that pass through it every day and from what I have seen not all people treat them well so I just think they tarnish us all with the same brush!!

But yes, was very proud of AR these flights!!

Saludos Marambio

Aeropuertos 2000 escuchen a este hombre! AR's Terminal B must be completely re-done quickly. It is a complete joke, and not only because it can't handle the current amount of passengers - hey, it was built for the 1978 World Cup!  ashamed

Maybe they are waiting for us to co-host the World Cup with Chile.  Yeah sure

Great report on both flights, Treeny!
