My father and step mom gave me a great christmas gift. My step mom was flying in to San Francisco on the 23rd and leaving back to Frankfurt on the 26th working the flights as a purser 2. My dad and I live here in Houston. Thats the overview.
My dad purchased two first class seats seat 1A and B (or what ever the aisle in first on the left is). The night prior to departure we went up to the airport and stayed at the Marriot at IAH. Crappy hotel I must say. We had a red eye flight, well to me it was redeye, I had to wake up at 5:30 to get ready, we had a 7:30ish departure time. We took the shuttle from the hotel to the airport with no problems. At the United terminal once through security, I got hungry, I wanted some breakfast, and what do you know, the Mexican food place was open. I asked for a Fajita and was turned away, McDonalds didnt have a McFlurry so I had to go and eat airline food on the flight. We were on an A320. Great plane, great flight. The First class F/A was a very polite gentleman of asian descent and very enthusiastic. The flight was extremely bumpy too, which I like as it adds excitement. We had a film I think, I didnt really watch it. I just listened to my Ipod until we got closer to SFO, which then I turned on CH9! Man I missed that. When we landed at SFO, it was extremely foggy, a ceiling of about 80 feet is what I thought it to be at the most.
My dad and I waited at the airport for several hours until my stepmoms Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt arrived. Turns out no Red Carpets are outside of Security anymore so we had to wait in the arrival area outside of customs. I roamed around the airport for about two hours. Came back to my dad who was at this coffee shop outside of the international customs doors was on the T-Mobile WiFi offered there. I then sat down, in a chair with a puddle of water in it. My dad conviently forgot to mention it to me. He likes to do that stuff to me.
Finally the crew arrived. My stepmom decided to get a little pushy with customs agents so she had the honor of getting all her items searched. Thats my step mom! The crew stayed at a nice hotel near that busy square in san francisco. Our hotel was across from Nordstroms and Singapore stays there too. I won't mention the name as some A.netters are paranoid and find that info to be top secret.
My first day in San Francisco was fun, some guy tried to pick my back pocket, I felt him and wound up elbowing him in the nose which then bled profusely. Some guy tried to sell me drugs right in front of my parents. No matter what major city I am in, whether it be NYC, Houston, San Francisco or Miami, I, not my friends or my parents, am the one who ALWAYS gets offered drugs. I loved San Francisco.
Now its on to the flight back to Frankfurt.
While I was eating breakfast in the hotel, my dad decided to put one of his routers into my carry on. I saw the router in my bag right before I stepped into the airport. I was like to him "I swear to god dad, I am going to be so pissed if they give me additional screening" He assured me they would NOT. Flying as the crew members family we were fortunate enough to not be in Y. We were told to wait and get our seats when we get to the gate.
Now its the TSA's time to shine! --------------
Going through security........... I GOT AN EXTRA SCREENING! Thanks to my dad. The LH crew was giggling at me. And of course, when the TSA repacked my bags, they put everything in the wrong order. Dob kit, Ipod, and round objects on bottom, flat items like magazines on top. It was a pain in the ass to find out where things were.
We got some C seats. The flight was great, seemed really short, probably because they didn't start the movies until later on into the flight... about 2-3 hours into it. I naturally drank some on the flight, and with dessert ordered a port. My dad being the gentleman he is (sarcasm people... hes a klutz!) accidently knocked the port onto my dress shirt and pants, and onto my favorite tie! We called the master (my stepmom/purser2) to tend to our situation. She made me get up, took me up to first, which had 5 people. There, she gave me a first class sleeper suit while she tried to save my tie and let my pants dry. About 30 minutes later, one of the single FA's came and starting hitting on me. My mom later told me the FA thought I was in my 20's.... im 17 . This nice FA took me to the crew sleeping quarters and showed me around. I was hoping to join the mile high club, but that didnt happen nor did anything remotely similar to it occur. lol. It is really cramped in that 744's crew rest and loud.
My flight back to Houston!
There were 3 people in the large section of Biz Class. F was full along with Y. The smaller biz section was full too. We flew back to Houston on the 1st of January, and I got no sleep that night so I would be able to sleep the entire flight home. Once we took off, I was out real soon... after I ate... and a few beers. I tried several seats in business, since there were like 27 empty ones! When I woke up, I saw a man accross the aisle who looked really familar. I finally worked up the courage to ask him... if he was the mayor of Houston, Bill White. He said yes. So I flew with Houstons mayor! I slept from just after Ireland, until somewhere inbetween Cincinatti and Memphis. You do the math... a nice long sleep! We had a nice landing, and I got to see the cockpit after we landed. Crew was nice.
Customs was a breeze and it was nice to get back home!
Hope you all enjoy my report!
ps. United still hasnt given me my miles on my revenue flight from IAH-SFO!!! I am pissed at them

Wow at 17 I certainly wasn't that much of a player to hit on flight attendants, get offered drugs on the street and drink (although I guess it is legal since Lufthansa is a German airline) multiple beers or glasses of wine.
And by the way, this is more of a trip report than a civil aviation discussion.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

I must say thats pretty awesome, some guy tried to pickpocket me in Costa Rica but i didnt elbow him in the nose. Also my brother almost got pickpocketed in Arusha, Tanzania, but i was behind him and the two pickpocket-kids figured i was just some other random guy, and when i saw them reach for his pocket i just yelled at them, no words, just yelling lol, and they ran away pretty freightened, id say they were 9 or 10 years old.
life wasn't worth the balance, or the crumpled paper it was written on
