Saw plenty of great planes at EWR. For example DC8, El Al 747, and too many COA ERJ's (which I now cannot stand because I saw too many of them.) Now for the report:

April 7, 2001
Flight 571
Equipment: 737-500

A full flight on the tightly packed -500. We pushed back 7 minutes late, and taxied for takeoff. We were 11th in line for takeoff, but for some reason, EWR was using only ONE runway for takeoff's AND landings. So we sat on the taxiway for about 55 minutes. While we were sitting there, some people got up and walked around and the flight attendant and the captain made announcements telling them to sit down, but they ignored the announcements. I cannot believe how rude some people get. The way I see it, they are lucky COA is giving them the ride. Anyway, we finally took off for a short takeoff roll and I could see a line for takeoff that stretched almost the length of the runway. Roast beef sandwiches or a sickly looking chicken salad and a can of soda was the lunch service. There was no inflight entertainment, and I entertained myself on my 70 question Math homework assignment. (Thanks, teach!) It was a quick flight as we arrived 20 minutes late in Tampa for an excellent grease-job landing on 18L. I had 20 minutes to catch my connection flight, I knew I could make it, but I hoped my bags would.

Equipment:Gulfstream Intl. Airlines B1900D

Well, my worries about my bags were eased when the 1900 was announced as arriving late from Miami. It was scheduled to arrive in Fort Myers sometime after 3, but it arrived in Tampa at 3, and had to be refueled and loaded. About 12 pax on this flight, the 1900D is nice compared to the C, giving more room to stand up. This was an ex Continetal Express plane labeled with Continental Connection. I got a show of the cockpit as the pilots did not close the door untill we were holding short of the runway. Darn, would have been fun. A quick 40 minute flight to RSW with heavy turbulence in one area, but it quickly smoothed out as we decended below the clouds. Another greaser landing as we taxied in 45 minutes late.

Classic Air Venture Flight Tour
1940 Waco UPF(forget the number)
Fort Myers Page Feild tour of Sanibel

My first ride in an open cockpit biplane.. and was it excellent. I recommend taking Classic Air Ventures if your ever in the area.

April 14, 2001
Flight 9292
Equipment:Gulfstream Intl. Airlines B1900C
Seat: 5A

We departed on time with 15 pax in the dark blue livery 1900C. This time, the pilots left the curtain open the whole time! I don't think they forgot, I couldnt see a curtain on the door. I got to watch the whole flight, the best part was watching the runway come up in front of us on landing! Before takeoff, they ran up the engines while holding short of the runway for about half a minute. I dont know what that was about. Maybe because it sat overnight, I really don't know. A nice short flight to TPA, we arrived at gate A1 10 minutes early.

April 14, 2001
Flight 570
Equipment: 757-200

I was packed into row 32 of 34 on this 757. I had hoped to move to an empty seat in the last two rows (they were completely empty) because my brother and I are both full sized hockey players, and it was a tight fit. But, alas, a huge crowd piled on 5 minutes before pushback and took up the two empty rows. Oh well. The inflight entertainment was a horrible CNN thing, an episode of that lame WB show Sister Sister, and a funny episode of Taxi. The lunch was turkey sandwiches, and I wish I got the flight attendants last name, his first name was Jeff, because I will promptly write Continental a letter telling them about this wonderful flight attendant. He was the most friendly and helpful flight attendant I have seen in years. Congrats Jeff.. sorry I didnt think to ask your last name. I bit of a rough landing at EWR, and we pulled into the gate 30 minutes early. However, being in row 32, it took us 20 minutes to get off the plane.

And that was my trip! I hope you liked the report. Feel free to make any comments.

What do you mean by "they should be glad that CO gives them a ride" ??
They are paying for it. Of course I don't want to say that it's ok to behave like this (absolutely not) but hey, any airline would be glad to give them a ride.
Airlines need passengers.
Anyway, nice trip report.

Thanks for the idea. I'll do that.
I meant it as they are lucky the be allowed to stay on board, (and yes I know they will never be thrown off but...) myself and many others wanted to kick them off the plane.

Good report.

I have heard that CO's food isn't that great. How was the sandwich on the return flight?

Sandwich was good. I forgot to add from EWR-TPA they also gave carrots and a energy bar that wasn't bad. They gave caramel and chocolate covered almonds on the return flight which were delicious.
