The trip started at about 13.00 UK time and check-in was done one day earlier with seats selected on row 5, right handside of the aircraft. However boarding passes were not printed and that the passport was not readable on the self checkin machine. Therefore the queue was joined and luggage was dropped off. Manchester airport Terminal 2 was quiet in the afternoon and we sat at Burger King for a while and shortly before 14.45, boarding was annouced by row number. As we were sat at row 5, we were the last bunch of passengers to be boarded.

Shortly after that doors were shut and push back commenced. Safety demos were done by a few robots and engines started. We had quite a long taxi towards the active runway and then took off. The take off was quite powerful and the aircraft was described as 'steep'. Shortly afterwards a sandwich (worse than LH I would say - dry and hard!) was served with drinks service. An uneventful flight followed on and then we landed early into AMS. Luggage was there shortly afterwards and then we left the airport via train, into the Central Station.

3 nights later it is time to go back home. We took the same train to AMS and checked in using the self service checkin. The passport was not readbale again so we headed to the agent and have the baggage checked in again. We had like 90 minutes to kill so we decided to do some shopping at the duty free in the airside. Flight details of the return flight is follows:

Service was the exact replicate as the outbound trip but with more friendly crew. Nothing much to write home about except that a picture was taken in the flight deck after landing and we had a few words with the first officer. He is a nice guy indeed.

Overall this trip was on the average side of normal short european trip. The only bad thing is that the sandwich they provide is really hard to be eaten and that the aircrafts are rather worn out and I guess they need some new aircrafts.

I am also suprised to see that jet2 was cutting frequencies on this route as both of our flights are full. Anyone has any ideas why they are doing this? Also, I was suprised to see that there has been no cargo carried on this flight? I thought they might have got something in the belly of the aircrafts? They wont fly just passengers, right?

Anyway, thank you once again to Shirley who made this trip report possible. Comments and feedbacks are very much welcomed.

Best wishes

William

Great TR, thanks for sharing. Indeed, KLM will order a big amount of 737NGs (not official though) very soon. Those 733 and 734 will be replaced most probably by 737-700, 736 or 738. I guess they will chose the 738 with winglets. Lets see.
Again, thanks for sharing.
