Well, here is my first trip report in a while be gentle please.

Well it all started about a month ago when i found i had some spare leave to use up. I was talking to a very good friend of mine who has helped me a lot these past few months and thought, I wanna go see him. So, i checked prices and dates, and on the 31st January, i went to the staff desk at work to collect my tickets for BA2905 to Gatwick, BA8144 to Luxemberg, and
LG4983 to Manchester.

I woke really early on Friday morning to do last min sortin out, made sure i had everything, showered then ran to catch the 0707 stagecoach to the Airport. Checked in, way to early and went airside.
Walked up and down, saw the AA flt to ORD (I hear the flt the next day was delayed due to a drunk captain lol) and watched our BA flt to JFK being prepped for departure.
Ii grabbed a quick bite to eat at the eatery (YUCK) and at last our plane arrived and i set off to the gate. Just as i got there 2 crew members walked off. One of em i had never seen before but chat to all the time, so i walked over and shook his hand. Prachya just so happened to be working my flt
down to London  We finally got clearance to board G-DOCT, and i was seated near the back, window seat 22A, but no one in the other 2 seats so i could stretch out a little.

P did the PA (Why do u sound Irish on the phone, but not in real life) and we set off on the quick hop to Gatwick. Service was ok i suppose, drink was nice, and i got a all day deli box which was a cookie, Kitkat and a tiny muffin. We landed at lgw, taxied and within 5 min was meeting my mate
and fellow netter Paul and Prachya again for a coffee before they both had to go catch the flights they were working. I checked in for my flight, and was told i could take both my bags onto the flight as it weren't that busy.
I went airside 2 and a bit hours before my flt, so got bored very fast. Thankfully the time went fast and boarding soon began and i boarded
G-GFFH for my flight to LUX.

This time i was seated in 8G, exit row aisle seat LOVED the legroom.
Flight again was good, little choppy over the coast, service again was the deli box, but i had another vodka so was happy.
At last we neared our destination, and loved the views i was seeing from the window.

We had a bit of a bump on touchdown, and taxied to the remote stand. First time for me, and de-boarded via stairs, a very odd exp with BA, on a 73 or bigger anyway and got onto he bus to the terminal. Cleared passport control easily, and then met the guy that has helped me out for the past few months.
MR moe himself. Wow, he is taller in real life. He was wearing that green jacket that is shown so much in the pic threads
Great to finally meet him.

We set off from the small airport, leaving BA and all the LG planes behind and head to the mall for
a little bit of shopping. The supermarket he took me to was HUGE. I don't know what it did not sell, it did EVERYTHING, tellys, clothes, shoes, kitchens, blinds, damm, it was a retail park in one store.
We headed at last to his apartment, and i was driven thru some amazing scenery, he lives in a valley, so weird, but the views. WOW. Really nice place he has. He unpacked the shopping while i put my stuff away and we set of into one of the districts for a meal and wonder. WOW what a place. High cliffs
with lighting showing off the remarkable buildings on the top of them. We walked over a gently flowing river, and headed to a English place, cant
recall the name, but had BOB in it. I was starving so ordered a chilli burger, and we both had some very nice white wine. For some reason though, after half the burger, and most of the chips i was full, and had a bad head, so did moe. Must of been the heat. We paid up, and strolled back to the car
in the soothing cold night air. Nice drive back, and we settled in for a night listening to music and playing Flt sim.
He taught me how to set FMS on the airbus fleet, had no idea, and he did some proper flts with live atc. So weird, but fun.
Had a nice nights sleep in his bed, he had kindly given it to me, while he was on the blow up one on the floor.

We woke, grabbed some pastries from a store, and made our way to the airport for some light spotting.
Good thing was we got there at the right time and caught 3 747, a few Emb145's a prop and 737. Loved seeing the MK747, but cant say why or i will be killed and never allowed back to LUX, ask him, or there are 2 more netters that know why Was a great little trip, for such a small airport, there was a lot of different things there, and the view was great.

We then headed into the city and he gave me a tour in the car as there were no spaces around. We finished that then went to
a nice bar in the Utopolis building. The bar is great, a ideal place for a netter meet. We sat under a wing of a prop plane
In front of us was a prop, and loads of airline stuff on the wall, but weirdly to my left was life size models of alien and the predator
and by the bar was some Star wars stuff. Then there were 2 tables near the entrance that had people in them, did not see what though lol
Had a nice snack there and as we did not go the night before, we went to the pies to see Rumor has it.
Funny flick, and the cinema , well puts the UK ones to shame. Really comfy seats, everyone has there own arm rest. Was weird seeing foreign
subtitles at the bottom, but not off putting. Flick finished, we had another little wonder around and set off home.
Wine was opened, as were my little vodka's, and we started flying. Moe then made a really yummy Chinese. He's a ace cook
We flew around for a bit, then watched a move, which strangley was nearly along the same lines as the one we watched eairler in the day.
Then came the sad bit. I had to go home

I, well moe had set the alarm for 9 so it gave us plenty of time to get up shower etc etc and get to the airport for 10am. BUT i was still groggy and
went back to sleep, and woke at 0930. Ran to the shower shouting at moe to get up along the way, and got ready. Made sure had everything, and we set
off  Check in was a breeze, there was no que, and i was seated in the last row, 18A, did not mind, as was tired and it was a single seat.
Now time to say good bye, gave him a hug and said I'd be coming back to annoy him a lot more from now on, now that i have discovered the place.
Went thru security and waved goodbye. Made my way to the gate and the view was great. Would of wrote some regs down, there was a all white DC9, all i can recall is the reg was TF- something, there were even a few AN's there. Finally my plane was ready, and i was driven with the rest of the pax to lx-lgv. A few smart looking EMB-145

Boarding was fast, and the crew came around with refreshment towels (moist towlets) a nice little addition.
Take off was very smooth, not as fast as a BA emb, was not pushed back as hard, but still good. Cloud level was very high, so we were served still in cloud.
Now, i do like BA, but there euro food has to get something done to it. On this flt i was served a freshly made baggete with very nice pate in it, with a little salad.
My drink was kept topped up (only coke, tired and still hungover) Cabin crew were amazing. And as a finally shock, we were given boiled sweets before
landing. Never had that happened before.
Landing was typical for Manchester, RAIN. Only saw the ground about 3 min before we touched down. Smooth touchdown and we taxied to the corner remote stand and deboared from the stairs and walked into the rain. For the first time at MAN, i was in TI, never been in there before. A Little bit bare i thought but hey.
I was now knackered, little sad at being back, and had to run to get a bus. Bag was first off  and ran but had missed the bus
I could not be arsed to wait so got a cab. Not as expensive as i thought it would be, and got home in 10 min where as the bus would of been 45, longer than a flt to LHR or LGW. Now im back home wishing i was back in LUX, i did not have enough time there to see the city, and i would not mind using it as a base to see more of Europe cause of its location to so many other places

My thanks to BA and LG for great service as always, Paul for coming to LGW early to meet me even though you were flying all day, and
a Big thank you to Moe for being a great friend and letting me see some of what i think is a very nice city, thank you

Dare one ask, Mr Trexter, how many little vodkas accompanied you to LUX? Sounds like a great trip!

Plane Spotting with an A.nutter

Current Mood: Humiliated

I was spotting at the airport and had the most embarassing happen to me. After having seen a few Cargolux B744s some Luxair E145s and B737s, there was another B744 taxiing to the holding point and I was waved at (for the 5th time on the day) by the pilots. I got so excited that I wanted to point this out to the a.netter and while doing so, slipped on the snow and fell right on my bum and mud! I was the laughing stock of the pilots on this flight. I was so humiliated I just wanted to sink into the floor and disappear! I bet the pilots had a lot to laugh about for at least a significant part of the flight. An a.net photographer (I believe Emmanuel Perez) was there too making photos, and I was glad he didn't see me slip on the snow.

Also, following false accusations that I snore at night, it has finally been deduced (and proven) that in fact my snoring is cute and more like heavy breathing, not snoring, and that in fact the my friend from a.net (Dan) is in fact the one who snores. These allegeations were justified by having a cold and being tired and tipsy... yeah right  Wink Muahahahahahaha *har har har*

That's all for today. I am knackered. Here are a few photos from the "adventure"... more stories next time!

And you were not goin to post anything about it hey Moe:P

This is from moes great blog site
