Date: 27th April 2006
Departure Apt: LHR
Arrival Apt: YYT
Aircraft: Boeing 767-300 (C-GDUZ)
Flight No: AC861

Warning, many pics

On April 27th I flew across the pond to St. John's, then onwards to Torono, ready for the YYZ A.Net meet later that weekend Big grin

In the early hours of the morning (0500), I boarded the train to Doncaster, ready for a connection onto London Kings Cross.

After a short trip from KX to Paddington, I jumped on the Heathrow Express to LHR, arriving into T3 at around 0900hrs.

I had already used web checkin at home, so I used the self service checkin machine to reprint my boarding pass, then went to the baggage drop area, then thru to Security control.

Our gate was soon called and so I set off to find my aircraft. Here she is.....

Boarding commenced ontime at 1120, and we pushed back ontime just after 12 noon.

A short taxi to runway 27R saw us takeoff at about 1225.

Soon, we were served Lunch, with beverages, and a hot towel service as well.

The inflight movie was "Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire", followed by "In The Line Of Fire", between which I open the window shade for a quick picture.

We commenced our descent into YYT about 20 mins before the 2nd movie finished (in fact in didn't finish, as the IFE had to be turned off), and as we were on approach to runway 29, I took a few pictures of St john's, which appeared on my left.

I spent about 24 hrs in the city.

Pics from my stay can be found in the YYZ Meet April 2006: Lets Wrap It Up! (by EmiratesA345 Apr 30 2006 in Non Aviation) thread Big grin

That evening, AF10 en route from CDG to JFK arrived (diversion) with an engine out, the passengers were then put up in Hotels for the night.

Here is the aircraft on the ramp.

Leg 2:-

Date: 28th April 2006
Departure Apt: YYT
Arrival Apt: YYZ
Aircraft: Airbus A321 (C-GIUB)
Flight No: AC695

The flight was due to leave YYT at 1250, so I got to the airport for around 10am, and took a few pictures of the terminal, which is only 4 yrs old (they were building it on my last trip to the province back in 2002).

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/leebrompton/Canada2006/IMG_2986.jpg

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/leebrompton/Canada2006/IMG_2988.jpg

I then made my way to the checkin area, dropped off my luggage and then went upstairs to the observation deck. It was good to see an airport actually providing facilities to be able to watch aircraft movements from, and this was in the area before security as well, which is an added bonus.

Traffic....

Pretty soon, at about noon, a DL 764 (N832MH) arrived on runway 34, much to my surprise. I thought "Wow, another diversion!", but then when i went to ask a member of staff about this arrival, she told me it had been ferried in from JFK to pick up the pax from the AF10 flight, which could not leave as the engine needed to be replaced on the A340. The 764 parked at gate 1.

About 5 mins later, my booked A321 (C-GIUB) arrived, and taxied to gate 3.

We were also offered a buy on board service of snacks, sandwiches etc, for which i bought a pizza.

I spent the rest of the day chilling out, doing a bit of spotting etc, and meeting Myt332 and Trekster off BA99 when they arrived.

Following that, myself, Aerobalance and 2 late arriving brits  Wink went to the bar in the hotel for a few beers Big grin

I arrived at T1 in YYZ at around 1500, to find huge lines at the AC international check in Zone (Zone D). I was informed that the baggage conveyor system was not working as it should, hence why all the Checkin staff were loading tagged bags onto huge carts and taking them away for processing.

I eventually was checked in at around 1645, less than an hour before my flight was due to board. I managed to clear security in under 5 mins, then went to the gate for my flight. Heres my aircraft.

My aircraft was an A330-300 tonight, and we boarded on time. I sat in seat 12K and took a few shots during taxi to runway 6L.

In the morning, Breakfast was served about 2hrs prior to landing, roughly about 750 miles from LHR..

We finally landed at LHR 10 mins early, at around 0605, on 27R

Finals.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/leebrompton/Canada2006/IMG_3171.jpg

We deplaned, after waiting 20 mins for a gate agent to arrive at the aircraft. I made my way thru the arrival formalities and reached my house via a train journey, at about noon.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/leebrompton/Canada2006/IMG_3173.jpg

Overall, great service on AC, and even though the aircraft lacked PTVs, I had a great time, the view was great and the planes seemed in good shape

I can't wait to fly AC again, soon

Hope you liked the report, and as usual comments are welcome......

In case you're curious, the airport you did not comment on is YKZ, or Buttonville Municipal Airport. I train out of there so I had to point it out!

BTW, just remembered, Im sorry if I caused you some emotional harm at "Le Biftheque" when I said you resembled Frankie Muniz!!! No harm was intended!  smile
