Hey guys. First trip report, so go easy on the criticisms!
DATE: May 17, 2006
FLIGHT: CO 1854
AIRCRAFT: Boeing 757-300
Departure: 4:07PM (scheduled 4:05)
Arrival: 6:59PM (scheduled 7:09)
I left my house at 1:45PM last Wednesday for my first ever trip alone. I was going to Boca Raton, Florida, to visit my friend Mike for a few days and play some golf. I got to EWR at 2:35 and had checked in with my e-ticket by 2:58 because there was a line and I had to check one bag. The flight was leaving from gate C71 and boarding was scheduled for 3:20PM but they didn't start until 3:35. Here's the plane waiting at the gate. First time on a 753!
I got into my seat and was happy to see that there was nobody next to me. We pushed back at 4:07, only two minutes late. The flight attendant who sat in front of me started talking to me, and I found out he graduated from the same high school as me, albeit 19 years ago, where as I'd finished in 2005. Takeoff was from runway 22R and we started our roll at 4:23PM. Here's pictures from taxi and takeoff. Sorry about the quality on a lot of them.
Can anyone ID this airport? There was no route map shown during the flight so I have NO idea where it is, but was probably about an hour into the flight.
The flight was very smooth the whole way, and the only thing that disappointed me was that we only got ONE drink service. The snack (a small Turkey sandwish, a TWIX, and a small bag of pretzels) was enough to eat, but I'd have liked another drink. I watched some sitcoms (Joey, Phil of the Future, Stacked, That 70's Show, Two and a Half Men) and while a few were funny, some were horrendous. It did help to pass the time.
Descent started at 6:20 and we landed at 6:56 on runway 09L. We taxied for a few minutes and were on the stand at 6:59. We had to wait a LONG time to de-plane, and I didn't get into the terminal until 7:17. I got my luggage pretty quickly, but my friend Mike who had arrived on a Song flight right after me had to wait, so I joined him at his baggage claim and we left the airport at 7:45. We got to his house in Boca Raton at 8:25. Here's some pictures of descent and landing.
I spent my three full days in Boca playing golf and I also saw Mission Impossible III. I loved the movie, and it felt great to get back onto the golf course after a long absence. I was never very good and shot a 146 the first day, and a 120 the second (for any of you who don't know, PAR, or the accepted normal score, is 72). I took some pictures but none of them are any good since it was VERY bright and my camera's fastest shutter speed is only 1/1000 of a second, and even at ISO 50 it wasn't fast enough. Everything got outblown. Mike and I saw a huge 7-foot alligator our first day on the course, that was about 3 feet from where my errant drive landed in the water. We didn't want to go near it since 3 women have been killed in the last few weeks in a string of attacks. My short vacation was great.

FLIGHT: CO 455
AIRCRAFT: Boeing 737-700
Departure: 8:14PM (scheduled 8:15)
Arrival: 10:58PM (scheduled 10:59)
SORRY, NO PICTURES OF THIS FLIGHT AS AND Irtysh-Avia (Kazakhstan)">IT WAS NIGHT AND THE WINDOW WAS DISGUSTINGLY DIRTY!!!!!
I left Mike's house around 6:28 and got to PBI at 7:04. Check-in was completed by 7:06, so I went to a store and bought Car and Driver magazine, and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, since Maria Sharapova was featured in it! Boarding was at Gate B4, and was scheduled for 7:30. The plane from EWR came in late, and they turned it around in about 10 minutes. We boarded the aircraft at 7:43 and managed to push back one minute AHEAD of schedule. Taxi to 9R was a little lengthy and we took off at 8:28. The entire flight was a little bumpy, and again my only complaint was that we only got one drink service. There was also no food, but a solid dinner before the flight kept me from complaining. I'd already seen the sitcoms on the way down to Boca, so I put my iPod on and listened to Flogging Molly all the way to EWR, except for the last 20 minutes, when I switched to Tchaikovsky's violin concerto since Flogging Molly had finished. I was on the left side of the aircraft and had an amazing view of NYC as we came in. We landed on 22L, and the wing dipped severely right before touchdown. The cross wind was from the West at 15-20 MPH and we certainly felt it. (They actually switched to runway 29/11 right after landed) Touchdown was at 10:45 and I was reminded how much I hate CO's terminal location at EWR, being as the 22's are the most commonly used runways. Taxi is quite long there. We were on-stand at 10:58, one minute early. I got off the plane, bought a bottle of water, retrieved my bag (which took a while as there were 6 flights sharing my flight's baggage claim). I was in my car at 11:28 and home at 12:10AM.
What a fun vacation, even though it was a short one.

I think that the main reason that you only received one drink service was because of the size of the cabin. It takes the F/A's nearly the entire flight to make it all the way down the aisle; when I was on a 738 back from PBI to EWR, they had time to come around twice.
