Sorry I had to rush off to work before I could finish my report. My next flight was another early take-off at 8:20.
BKK - HKG
May 15 8:20
CX700
Seat 66A
B777-300
Irnwas really impressed with the quality of the new 777 and the FA's onrnthis leg
and after thisrnshot of Don Muang they served up some Dim Sum shrimp which was not veryrntasty
Again landing andrntransit was smooth and a Thai heavy was in for me to snap a pic ofrn

This being a short flight I didn't expect much but they served a great egg sandwich and refreshments that I ate up without taking a pic of. I arrived at CKSrnin the fringe of a typhoon and took the Aloha travel bus down tornKaohsiung - the rain made for a blase ride - if you ever get the chancernin Taiwan to take these bus trips I highly recommend it. Its like first class travel on the bus. They even have a stewardess that serves coffeernand snacks. Greyhound can learn something from the Taiwanese. Living inrnKaohsiung for 3 years I knew the best place to stay was the Splendorrnhotel - and it didn't disappoint.rn
Here is the view from myrn65 floor room
I had a nicernvisit with friends, and my ex-fiancee (long story but we remain thernbest of friends) took me out for a desert at Morton's which has the most bizarrerntheme of toilets and urinals. Here is my mammoth ice desert served in arnmini-uninal
I decided onrntaking Uni-Air the EVA domestic service back to Taipei. The KHHrndomestic airport is so old school, all the boarding is done on walk up.rnThey have a cool golden dragon statue in the waiting loungern
I asked the Mandarinrnairlines rep if I could go out and snap some pics outside - No Problemrn
rn
and lucky for me a CI 747rnwas arriving as well in the international sidern
rn
rn
My flight was delayed arnbit and to my surprisernwhen we were called it was in an EVA livery not the orange UNI as I hadrnbeen expecting
rn
rn
KHH - TSA
May 17 11:55 - this was my only delay on the trip
Seat 8C
MD-90
one last look at KHH. Flying into Shung Shan I guess is the closest thing to the old Kai Takrnthat I will experience
rnwith the buildings all around it makes for an interesting approach. ThernGrand Hotel pictured there is like a fine painting - a beauty from arnfar but lousy to stay in. Upon arrival at the Taipei domestic airportrnthere were a few spotting treats. One being the Hercrn
and a SinoPacrnlivery for Far Eastern Transportrn
I couldn't help myself torntake a picture of this luggage carousel - a little FAT TNArnanyone???
I stayed at thernIntercontinental Hotel, which when first built was probably a 5 starrnbut the rooms need some updating. I guess that doesn't stop the localrncelebrities from parking their rides out frontrn
Taipei has a lot to offerrnand after shopping at the 101 I went to the CKS memorial hall
finally my trip was coming to a close and it was off to TaoYuen to fly my last flights
The windows are all green at CKS which makes for lousy picture taking but the smoking rooms have open windows so I snapped this Philippines Air bound for Manila.

ThisrnEVA flight had just landed as we pushed offrn
rn
again as I snapped up thisrnpic of CKS they served us another great little sanni - this time a Ham and Cheese
The typhoon Chanchurnhad by-passed both Taipei and Hong Kong and actually cleaned out thernpollution making for great pics of Victoria Harbourrn
rn
As we taxiedrnin to Gate 1 this 747 followed us to Gate 3 - This would be myrntransport back to YVR!
rn
Through transit and on tornthe duty-free to get some Mild Seven Internationals, I sadly did myrnlast round of spotting at HKIArn
rn
rn
rn
rn
The flight was full thusrnmaking for the longest wait to board but we were off on time once again
HKG - YVR

Thernday was a beauty to fly out onrn
rn
and my last dinner wasrnserved - they had run out of the fish from the Peking garden so I hadrnthe Beef Stew
the girlrnnext to me had the Fusili and I must say it looked like throw up - I watched King Kong and some terribly predictable Queen Latifah movie where she has 1 week to live, and surprise, surprisernwas given misdiagnosis... snooze - anyway after a bowl of Top-Ramen thernlights came on and they served breakfastrn
again the weather wasrnclear as we made for our descent to YVR and there is the Alex Fraserrnand the silty Fraser river belowrn
everything was classyrnexcept that first flight crew from Cathayrnand I intend to do another Asia Pass next year if the continue to offerrnit. And just when I thought my spotting and journey had finished wernpull to the gate and see JA8917 parked next to us
I hope you all liked my first trip report on Anet - CHEERS!

Hey YYZflyer - It wasn't my fault, though it looks like I am one crappy speller - I guess when you run a trip report through the Anet spell check it puts these in automatically - I was given the heads up a bit too lat - sorry - cheers - Thanks for all the good response!!

Excellent report, my sister and my bro both live in Kaohsiung and being an AC employee I visit often. I have tons of pics from travelling in Taiwan and I've always thought I'd do a trip report but never get around to doing it.
I've always wanted to see what the view of Kaohsiung would be from that building. Again great pics.
