I arrived at Luxembourg Airport at 05:55 and directly went to the two Luxair Business Check-in counters. The lady was very friendly and after I asked her she also checked my luggage all the way to MIA and also attached the Star Priority tags which they don't have to often in LUX. She handed me my Boarding Pass to FRA and the invitation to the Lounge and I was done in 5 minutes. I went trough the Security directly which only took me 5 min as well. Thats why I try to only fly from/and to Luxembourg, the airport is really small and you get things done really fast. After spending 10 min in the Lounge I just had to step out of the Lounge to my gate. Once on board, the flight attendants offered refreshing towels and a variety of newspapers. The new Luxair seats onbord the 737's are very nice and look very modern. After take-off at 0655 the flight attendants served a full breakfast including two danish's and a small roll with ham and cream cheese they offered coffee and orange juice as well as champagne twice. The flight to Frankfurt takes only around 25 minutes and the cabin crew does a great job on that short flight. We arrived at Gate A 42 in FRA at 07:35. After arrival I went to the US Airways Check in Concourse C. The lady asking the security questions was barely able to speak German and I wasn't able to understand her until she began speaking English. The Check-In Agent at the Envoy Counter was very friendly and gave me the boarding pass for both US Airways flights. Since my flight to CLT woudn't leave until 11:45 I went back to the International Lufthansa Senator Lounge in A (Gate A61 I think).

Boarding was really uneventfull and on this segment the seat next to me was occupied. The US Airways Envoy seat is better if you compare it to the old LH Business Class seat still flying to MIA but the new LH C Seat is better.
The flight attendents served sparkling wine and orange juice (in plastic) before departure. The offered some newspapers and magazines but the variety is very small on US. Before push back from the Gate the FA's also handed out the Menu, a small "overnight bag" and took the orders for the after take-off drink. They offered grilled beef, roasted chicken, pesto tortelloni or an Express meal with cold roast beef and salmon.
US 193 left FRA at around 12:05. After the climb the cabin crew began the drink service with some roasted nuts. The starter, smoked Salmon and salat, were served shortly after that. US Airways is not doing a cart service but still service seemed to be really quick. The lunch was good and portions were really big. If always find it a little odd that US serves the dessert and the cheese on one plate but since I only eat the dessert it is still ok. The entertainment system is really nice especially the big screen. But on that flight the FA's had to reset the system twice before it was working. In the afternoon there was an ice cream service but I was still filled from lunch so I wasn't able to taste it. Between both services the FA's went trough the cabin from time to time and offered juices and water. Before landing in CLT the Cabin crew told everyone that there would be a pre-arrival service which would include a salat and pizza. I don't know why that is not printed in the Menu because it is same service since I flew US for the first time in 2003. The salat is always really good and the pizza was not bad either but I think they could change it from time to time. We landed in CLT 15 minutes before schedule. Immigration in CLT is very convient since there are only a few international arrivals.
After I cleared the immigration I still had to wait for my luggage but not to long. I cleared customs and rechecked my luggage and went to the the huge US Lounge in CLT. The lady on the desk handed me a drink voucher but than asked me to return it after she asked me about my age and I said that I'm 20.
She also gave me a new Boarding pass because my flight to MIA would leave from a different gate now.

When I arrived at the Gate in I realised that this Airbus was painted in new US colours. This flight was fully booked in First and I think there were many last minute bookings, because on the Tuesday before I left I went to my Travel agent to pick up my tickets and then we looked over the flights there were only 2 more seats booked in the F cabin to MIA. Maybe US is also upgrading many pax I don't know?! We were pushing back from the Gate ontime but I don't know about take-off since I was sleeping. The domestic service is really nothing special the FA took the drink order after our climb and gave everyone a refill during the flight. She also offered a "snack basket" twice. You can't really compare it to the European domesic service which is much besser even the flight times are sometimes shorter. But since September 2005 domestic First on US has already improved they have blankets and pillows again. We were touching down in Miami early again arriving at the Gate approx. 10 minutes before schedule. I don't know how long US is still using the H Gates with Delta but I think there is a common facilty for all Star Alliance Carriers planned in MIA. So as long as neither Lufthansa or Swiss are using planes with their new C classes on board to MIA I'll continue flying US.

The US Airways club in CLT is great! IMO, the best club in their system.
You're absolutely right about US domestic service . . . but that's the same these days, unfortunately, on ANY us based carrier. Even domestic F doesn't offer much in the way of rations . . . although some airliens continue to excel.

I don't know about that...the reason here that many frequent flyers are fiercly loyal to an airline is their upgrade program...US (along with DL, NW, CO and AA ExPlats) all receive free upgrades from any paid fare domestically if there are seats, and I'm sure many elites would switch if this was changed. All in all, I don't mind US domestic first service...I'd rather just have the bigger seat and the free drinks.
