Adelaide To Auckland Part 1 With Pics

Background
This trip had been in the planning for a while. I have been to Auckland once before in 2004, so a return visit was due.
At least this time I will be going direct and not having to bother with connecting flights. This will be my first flight with Air New Zealand and on a Airbus A320.

Check in was slow due to the queue, but when it was the turn of myself and dad it was quick and painless. Security was no problem either, which left us with some time to kill. Dad had a wander while I found a convenient window and did some spotting.

Boarding time came and was done in an orderly fashion.

Takeoff was not much different to that of a 737 and the aircraft did not shake and rattle as much as I was expecting it to.

Seats were comfortable and covered with leather.

IFE consisted of a movie shown on flip down screens from the ceiling and audio entertainmment.

Meal was a rather small roast beef in pastry which could have been warmer and a slice of chocolate cake. The other choice was chicken teriaki.

Rest of the flight was uneventful with a glorius sunset over the tasman.

Landing was at night in Auckland and was a little bumpy in places. However the landing itself was alright.

I would also like to thank the crew for letting me see the cpckpit after we had landed.

Going through customs and immigration was painless, and was out getting the hire car in no time.

So far my first impressions of Air New Zealand have been great and the airbus A320 is a good aircraft to travel in.
