Hey all, This is my first trip report so please bare with me. I have some pics of the party upon arrival but nothing from the flight. I will try and get the pics up upon my return to JFK next week.

I arrived at JFK about 6:45 for the 8:10 departure to PIT this morning. As with most friday morning at B6, the terminal was crowded. It was a little more crowded due to July 4th coming up. Between kiosk check in and dropping my bags by the counter, I was searching for a magazine by 7:05.

The flight to PIT was parked over at gate 17. Without previous knowlegde that flt 1051 was the inaugural flight, one would have no idea since there was zero fanfare at JFK. We started boarding the E190 N216JB "Blue Getaways" right before 7:40. As always a warm welcome from the flight crew and within 15 min, the plane was packed and all were seated. The flight attendant got on the PA to announce that today was the inaugural flight and that the whole crew was excited. The captain then took the speaker to tell us that our cruising alt. would be 26,000 feet with a flight time of about an hour. He went on to reiterate what the flight attendant said and to wave a "Terrible Towel" for the passengers. He commented "Most of you probably know what this is and if you don't then you will find out soon".

We closed up the doors and pushed back from the gate a couple minutes early. By 8:28 we had started our takeoff roll on 31L and made our takeoff to PIT a smooth one.

Once airborne the flight was extremely uneventful. The flight crew was efficient as I ave always found they are on B6 and I enjoyed the XM and livetv. They had a choice of the usual morning drinks, and the option of biscotti or doritos.

We started our descent into PIT about 45 min into the flight and had a smooth touchdown at about 9:35AM. With a fairly long taxi to the gate we were welcomed to PIT with the sight of 25 or so B6 empoyees standing on the tarmac waving terrible towels, and the always exciting Water Canon washdown.

Once we blocked in the door was open and CEO David Neelman got on the horn to welcome us to PIT. It was hard to hear him thought over the roar of B6 employees screaming and clapping to greet us in the jetway. Upon exiting the aircraft we were bombarded by high fives, ovations and a jetway decorated in what else but Steelers colors. When I walked into the terminal we were greeted by news crew looking for a quick word on the flight (I was interviewed by WTAE) and the colorful sounds of a steel drum band.

There was a whole area set aside for a news conference with about a whole bunch of B6 employees and employees families standing around. There was also a table with drinks and food set up for the people in the terminal.

I stayed for the press conference to see the rest of the hoopla. A few county execs spoke first to welcome the Jetblue family and kind of dug to get B6 to expand already. David Neelman finished the press conference up by speaking for a few minutes and then cut the ribbon with the big scissors that we always see on TV but never in person.

A tour of the plane was then given to the media and thats when I called it a morning.

Hope you all enjoy and I will try and get pics up as soon as possible.

Sounds like it turned out to be a fun time for all parties! Well except the dominate carrier that was PIT!

Sounds like a great trip! I've always wanted to be on one of JetBlue's inaugural flights. Anyways, looking forward to the pictures!

Not all of us can be heroes, some of us can only stand on the sidewalk and clap as they go by.
