Saturday, 16 Sep 1995: Board American Trans Air Boeing 757 N757AT at 11:00am local time. I get seat 7B, get comfortable, check for inflight magazines, listen to the safety briefing and prepare to leave Keflavik after being stationed there the past year for the USAF. This is a DOD contract flight destined for Philadelphia with Military Personnel and their dependents. We leave on time. The aircraft rumbles down runway 29 and becomes airborne. I see the nation of Iceland slip underneath the grey clouds and settle in for the 5 1/2 hour flight to KPHL. The crew for this flight was magnificent, catering to the military crowd who were all looking forward to returning to the USA. For Lunch We we served food from Icelandair catering and it was a great fish meal. Movie time arrives and I can't remember the first movie but the second was "While you were sleeping" with Sandra Bullock. Sandra can make any long journey enjoyable. It wasn't long before Canada came under the wing, then the Northeast USA and finally the descent into Philadelphia. The movie was shut off
prior to landing, but the crew turned the movie back on so we could see what happened at the end. The plane taxied to the International terminal and I was streching my neck trying to see other aircraft around us. N757AT came to a stop, everybody began the"stand up and wait til the door opens" ritual. I bid farewell to the wonderful cabin attendants, walk through the jetway and straight to customs then my connecting Delta flight to ATL and finally CAE. N757AT was sold to Delta in 1997 and it was nice to see her at CHS last year.
