Wednesday, Aug 9th was a very nice day in western Michigan. At around 9:35am, I arrived at the small, Muskegon airport and checked in for my flight back to Minneapolis. The terminal is tiny, and so it did not take a very long time to check-in.

After I handed my bag off to the agent at the bag check, I walked around and then waited in line for the security line to open.

Here's a picture from inside the terminal:

At about 10:10am, we were able to pass through security and I went over to the seating area. Our Midwest Connect Beech 1900 soon arrived from MKE, and parked at Gate 2.

After the passengers got off the aircraft, the pilots began to pre-flight the aircraft for our flight to MKE.

At around 10:40am, the boarding process.

Flight #3

Midwest Connect #1405
MKG-MKE
Beech 1900D
90% Full

I was the first one to get up, and hand the boarding pass to the agent. After walking out the door to the plane, I was greeted by the first officer who welcomed me on-board.

Here's a view as I'm about to board the flight to MKE:
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h203/cessna55057/IMG_1044.jpg

After all the passengers got on, the first officer gave us the safety information and closed the door. We began moving right on schedule, and began the taxi to the runway for takeoff.

After waiting for a small Cessna 152 to perform a touch-and-go, we began the fast roll down the runway. We were airborne in seconds!

Here's a view of the coast of Michigan after leaving Muskegon.

The first officer then came on the intercom to say that we had reached 10,000 feet, and that all passengers could use approved electronic devices.

After about 20 minutes, we began the descent into MKE. The first officer came on again to tell us to "turn off all electronic devices" and to remain seated with seatbelts fastened.

Here's a view from the top of our descent:

After descending through the clouds, the WI coast was visible. After passing over the coast, we came down for a good relatively smooth landing.

Here's a view after the landing:

Here's a NWA DC-9-30 that had just landed:
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h203/cessna55057/IMG_1048.jpg

We taxied for a few moments, and finally came to a stop at door "C" at Gate D-52.

After waiting for a few moments, I was soon walking up the stairs into the air-conditioned D concourse. I had about 3 hours till the boarding of my MSP flight, so I decided to walk around a bit.

Here's a Midwest MD-88 "Super Saver Service" in the very nice new colors, bound for SFO at 11:50am
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h203/cessna55057/IMG_1049.jpg

Both the Beech 1900 flights were excellent, and I hope to fly on that aircraft again soon. I did, however, find it hard to read during the flight as I felt a little "car" sick.

I'll post part #4 soon!

Comments & Suggestions are welcome!

I spotted a sign in the terminal indicating that there was construction that would be completed by November 2006. The sign did not yield much information, but did have a picture of what looked like new gates for Midwest Airlines and Midwest Connect.

It's actually the C concourse so YX doesn't use it. I'm only in the C concourse to get Quizno's...but it's used by Eagle, Skywest, Air Canada Jazz, ACA, Comair, and all those other regional/major airline affiliations.

MKE is adding a small hammerhead to Concourse C. It's not really an expansion but rather just trying to get FL and MQ out of the temporary shack gates.

YX is also modifying the D concourse. I'm pretty sure the entire west side of the terminal will be Midwest Connect, and YX is also somehow relocating their bagroom to someplace under the D concourse.

Great report + pictures! I always enjoy reading trip reports with pictures that include flying out of small comercial airports.

Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

N353SK,

Thanks for letting me know! Yeah, I saw the gates for Air Tran and they didn't look like they were very easy to get to.
